Review:Back from Dawn 7/17 to 7/24 -AWESOME!!!

Recommended Posts

My husband & I just got back from our Norwegian Dawn cruise {7/17 to 7/24} I can sum it up in one word: AWESOME!!! From start to finish our cruise was thee best. The entire staff, cruise & all our new friends were great.

Embarktion: Got there at 11:30 am, we were on board at 12:15 having lunch

Room: Tenth Deck- THEE BEST FLOOR. Our room was great.

Food: Awesome. We literally ate morning, noon, night, snacks, midnight, etc.

Staff: FANTASTIC!!! Colin, Lance, Ana, Marco, Pasquale and all our friends we made along the way are the best staff. They made us feel like celebrities. Our friends in housekeeping, Cigar Bar, restaurants, pool, spinnaker lounge, treated us like royalty.

Shows, Games, bingo, classes: Awesome again. The shows were the best, loved edge & charles bach. My husband & I were on the Weakest Link- too funny. All our cooking demo's, dance classes, and hundreds of other activites were GREAT!!!

Casino: I did VERY VERY VERY well at slots. :)

Weather: PERFECT!!! 1/2 a day of rain, some rough weather Friday night, but ended up ok.

Disembarktion: took advantage of early leave- was off ship by 9:45, & home by 11:00.

Our ship was filled to the gills with people; however, it felt like the energy & fun never stopped. We had the best cruise. Everything was perfect.

If you're going on the Dawn- You will love it- we did!!!

It's so much fun to see people who have enjoyed themselves so much...it really says as much about their terific attitude as it does about the cruise. Of course, the Dawn IS fabulous, and Ms.TravelPrincess' review could have passed for our own last winter...I envy all of you sailing on her soon, but our time will come :)...

Hi,

Im glad to hear you had such a good time. I am going in August with my family and can not wait! I have a question.....How did your stop in Nasau work out? I know now they are doing an overnight stop and leaving earlier the next day. WIll we have time to explore Atlantis at night and shop the next morning? What time do you need to be back on the ship? We are trying to figure out what to do in Nassau becuase we had planned to do both Atlantis and shop. We woudl have liked to do a city tour to but we are unsure if we can swing everything. Did the shops on Bay St. stay open late? or open early? Thanks in advance for the info.

Heather

We also back from 7/17 cruise - first time on Dawn.

Was on ship by 12:30.

Party of 14 did not like the Freestyle. Difficult to get reservations. People were booking in the beginning of the week. I thought it could not be done until the day before. We would rather have a set time and place to eat.

PT. C - Don't bother to go to Disney - not enough time - long lines - too short a time there. Not worth the money. Bus did not get there until about 1pm. Last bus back leaves promptly at 7:15pm.

MIAMI - we booked the Deep Sea Fishing, but the party that ran the excursion said they did not have people interested in this much anymore so it was cancelled. So we took cab to South Beach - water fun - walked the strip - had lunch.

GREAT STIRRUP CAY - make sure you go to the beach on the left of the tenders. Large rocks are on the right side, although beach not as crowded. Water was beautiful after you walked over the large rocks. Get there early to get chairs and umbrellas. BBQ was good.

NASSAU - Went to Atlantis at night - beautiful. No charge for seeing the fish tanks. Shopped in the morning.

Weather was great except for Fri. night.

FOOD - small portions given. Especially appetizers.

Colin was great - Lance was stiff.

SHOWS - South Beach Rave - excellent. Bollywood - So So. Farwell show boring.

All entertainment in the lounges (except at Spinnaker) stop at 12 midnight. Wished it was later.

Loved the casino.

Don't forget the sunblock.

In all - we did have a great time together.

more to add-

about 10 games were broken in the kids video game room. my son not happy about that.

you think that the pit bosses would give my husband a free drink for being at the blackjack table for 4 hours even though he did win. other casino's have. although service was very good throughout ship. all very friendly.

small pool. there were enough pool side lounges.

i liked the sanitizer for hands throughout the ship.

stateroom very small for 4 people, why can't they have 2 beds that come down instead of having a cot for the 4th person like other ships have.

but once again i will say, we still all had a great time of it.

Hi mykidsmom,

quick question, on GSC, when you say to the LEFT of the tenders, (we've never been there), do you mean facing the tenders from shore or facing the beach while on tender. which left (if that makes sense)?

Facing the beach from the tender, however, if your not into swimming and use the water just to cool off, the right facing the beach from the tender is closer to the music, bar and food. It is generally less crouded as well, less kids because of the rocks so a little quieter.

Was wondering how you were going to make out!

My daughter and niece were about the only ones sick out of the 14 of us. Very rocky during the chocolate buffet which was at 2pm. I felt sick from eating and smelling all the chocolate. Felt better a short while later. Had to hold on when walking. Rocky thru the night and then very calm in the morning. It was scary and fun at the same time.

We were on the Dawn on 7/3 and it was great. It was our first cruise so we did not know what to expect ( and didn't know about this site until after we got back). We were in 10212 which was a great balcony room. Towards the stern but never felt any motion even though we had about a day of rough seas. Close enough to the rear elevators to make it convenient.

Our usual drink spot was the Kings Pub, say Hi to Edwar and ask to see his puzzles.

The stewards were great and took care of everything.

Food was great in each of the restaurants, we ate in La Trattoria surrounding were not great but we had a nice view out the windows and in Cagneys. The upcharge was worth it. Spent Sunday evening, after dinner, in the Tex-Mex bar and the appetizers were good, Manager ordered us two rounds of drinks on him since we were the only ones there.

The shows were good and actually had a great time talking to the entertainers afterward in the lounge.

It was a great time!
