First timers on Hal, just received our Doc's. Can you buy liquor by the

bottle from a bar for consumption in your stateroom? The doc's just

state gifts packages. DH would like to get a bottle of gin or vodka. They

state that any liquor bought from their shops will be held until final night

before disembarking.

Any info would help.

Thanks

Ann

Yes, you can order a bottle from the ship to use in your cabin. You can order reduced rate packages through room service. It is discussed in your "Know before you go" booklet you will receive with your documents before you sail.

You can pre-order liquor for your cabin by calling ship services 1-800-541-1576. They have a couple of packages that include either 3 cans of soda or tonic. Or you can order just the bottle alone. Most liters costs around $27.50 via the phone.

Or you can wait till you get on the ship and order through room service or go to a bar and buy a liter. Prices start at $25 plus a 15% gratuity. If you are sailing out of Florida, and you buy your bottle before the ship is 10 miles out to sea, they will add on a 6% Florida tax.

Thanks to all for your replies. Krazy Kruizers, I think we will take your

advice and wait until we are out at sea before ordering. I checked over

our "before you cruise" and they did not list individual bottles of liquor, only

packages of wine, etc.

We leave Dec.3rd on the Zuiderdam. Really looking forward to that

S suite.

Thanks again.

We just got back from a great week on the Zuiderdam. We ordered a couple bottles of liquor about a week ahead of time through ship services. It was in our Suite when we got there and we were not charged any Florida taxes. It works out great that way because you can have drinks on your veranda while waiting for sailaway. A three minute phone call is all it takes and it couldn't have been any easier.

  • 2 weeks later...

If you bring your own wine on board (as permitted by HAL policy) can you bring your own bottle to the restaurant? How does that work? I may preorder some vodka, but we are definitely bringing a few bottles of wine and a bottle of champagne.

Thanks for any info!

Hi Ann - Congratulations on receiving your docs!!! Just wanted to let you know that I just ordered the gin and tonic package (1 litre of gin with 3 cans of tonic) and the total was $32. I think there must have been a price increase recently. I said what the heck and ordered it anyway. I enjoy having a drink before dinner, and will also enjoy it in the evening on the balcony, I am sure.

See you on board :).

Marie
