Recommendations for a active/waterproof camera for cruise?

Recommended Posts

GoPro is the definitive brand of action camera. I think the current version is the Hero5, but I bought a refurbished Hero4 Silver and saved a ton of money. It does need a waterproof case (which comes with the camera) but it doesn't add much extra bulk at all. Just be sure to bring a spare battery or two!

I heard gopro's are great. They can be mounted on almost anything (Bikes, head bands, chest bands, selfie sticks). You may also check out waterproof point and shoot cameras. Most camera companies carry them.

The GoPro is great. However, if you want a simpler waterproof camera, have a look at Nikon Coolpix 100 for about $157 or the Coolpix W300 for $386. Some sources are B&H Photo, Amazon (some discounted discontinued models), Best Buy, etc. I got amazing stills and videos snorkeling in Moorea with a Coolpix. It looks and feels like any other camera - except it's waterproof.
