mustang67 Posted March 12, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2007 Any recent Royal cruisers notice or actually consumed the wheat beer brewed exclusively for Royal ships? It was supposed to be a "limited time" kind of thing but I last heard it was going to be available indefinately. I'll be sailing on the Enchantment in a couple weeks and wondered if I'll be able to try some. Thanks

vtoria98 Posted March 13, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2007 I thought it was good. Tasted like a heavier Tucher, i had mine with an orange. They had it on Soveriegn and I was surprised to see it since i thought it was a limited time thing as well.
M&M Hayden Posted March 13, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 13, 2007 Had it on the Jewel last October...but wasn't offered on the Empress last week. Heard it was still being offered on the other ships....it is quite tasty......
papermans Posted March 13, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 13, 2007 We had it on the Rhapsody in Feb. Planning to get it again in April. It is very good. We get the bucket of assorted foreign beers.
mustang67 Posted March 13, 2007 Author #7 Share Posted March 13, 2007 Thanks all--Hopefully I'll be sipping a glass or 2 (or 3) in a couple weeks. papermans--What ship are you on in April? Gary
Mach1 Posted March 13, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 13, 2007 It was good, didn't have it w/an orange - I bet that was good. It was a hair cheaper then Bud/Bud light ;)
pickleo Posted March 13, 2007 #9 Share Posted March 13, 2007 This sounds good. I hope this beer is on the AOS when I sail on April 8th.
mustang67 Posted March 13, 2007 Author #10 Share Posted March 13, 2007 Bells Oberon and Blue Moon are very popular wheat style beers around my area and are served with an orange slice. It is a very nice summer beer so the Royal beer should be especially refreshing....

Aprille Posted March 14, 2007 #12 Share Posted March 14, 2007 It's bottled beer (don't remember the cost). DH and I found it quite tasty on our Splendour cruise in January. What's Brewing Over at Royal Caribbean? From the above-linked article dated January 19, 2007: Royal Legendary Belgian Ale is a limited-time offering on all ships -- but a spokeswoman tells us that due to its popularity there's no end date in mind and that the line will continue production in the immediate future.Hoping it's still available on our October cruise on Voyager.

Ruggermags06 Posted March 14, 2007 #14 Share Posted March 14, 2007 I like Blue Moon a lot so I'm looking forward to trying this on the AOS in June. I don't like oranges so I always put a lemon in my Blue Moon (similar to my hefeweisen's). My FI will be happy about this as well.
mustang67 Posted March 15, 2007 Author #15 Share Posted March 15, 2007 UMMMM...lemon. I'll give that a try in 16 days on The Enchantment!!!!!!!!!!!!
zantedeschia Posted March 16, 2007 #16 Share Posted March 16, 2007 Lemon is traditional for wheat beers, haven't done the orange. I tell you servers often give me odd looks when I request lemon. They all pretty much know about the lime in Mexican pilsners tho.
MILEMRKR63 Posted March 16, 2007 #17 Share Posted March 16, 2007 My buddies and I drank a few while on the Majesty and to be honest, we can handle a fair amount of beer, but this beer got us very relaxed very fast (AKA drunk) We will be steering clear of it when we sail on the Liberty for sure!!! Belgian white ales however are traditionally served with an orange. Belgian whites are a wheat cousin of the hefe'.

Glaciers Posted April 2, 2007 #25 Share Posted April 2, 2007 We just returned from the Explorer and tried Royal Beer based on reading this thread before we went. It was a wonderful beer although difficult to come by. Only a few bars had it. At the meet and mingle one of the staff said she had been with RCI for 4 years and hadn't heard of it. 7.5% alcohol content. $3.95 plus gratuity.
