Ms belp Posted April 6, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2008 Has anyone experienced being in the hallways and hearing or feeling winds, blowing/whistling down the hall from the balcony suites doors being open? It happened on our last cruise, but not the first two. Is it because of the weather, or the position of our cabins?
Cosmopolitan Posted April 6, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2008 Has anyone experienced being in the hallways and hearing or feeling winds, blowing/whistling down the hall from the balcony suites doors being open? It happened on our last cruise, but not the first two. Is it because of the weather, or the position of our cabins? We have heard the winds whistling in the hallways on windy nights. And, we have had staff come to our cabins and advise us to close our balcony doors on windy nights. If everyone follows the rule...who knows;)
Rare ohioNCLcruiser Posted April 6, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 6, 2008 The more the better! On the Norwegian Wind our cabin was on deck 10 all the way forward and those doors to the outside were impossible to get open..just to stand there was great! You really want to get into a discussion of Bernoulli's Principle? :) Suffice it to say it has a lot to do with the speed of the ship, the relative wind, and the position of the cains where the doors are open. AFT_LOVER Posted April 6, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 6, 2008 inside the stateroom when the balcony door is opened & someone opens the stateroom door & all paperwork, magazines, anything light take off all over the place. The George Smith case on Brilliance of RCCL fame. The FBI photo of a room trashed with paperwork all over. Got me to email Greta, the investigator from Court TV who went to MSNBC. I told her the wind factor in a stateroom with balcony door open & stateroom door opening & watch stuff take off. So she was with the Captain and had him open the balcony door as she opened the stateroom door & away stuff went & landed just like the FBI photo. She thanked me for the clue. raudacruise Posted April 6, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 6, 2008 We've had our balcony door open and the pressure in the cabin was such that you could not even open the door to the hallway.
