  1. @kazu I'm glad the nurse came over yesterday and I hope you can get to the bottom of the foot issue today. @ger_77 Thanks for keeping a list of the drinks we want to try. Probably should have a recipe for some of them in case the bartender has never heard of them. That helped when we taste tested the Chocolate Chicken on the Koningsdam. @VMax1700 Welcome home! I love your sense of humor. @JazzyV I hope BFF's ankle isn't broken. You're quite the pair, aren't you? I used to love Bar Harbor until last summer. We were there twice and I understand the frustration of the locals. The place was just over run with people. We usually go out to Acadia and hike and even that was unenjoyable due to the number of people there. We gave up the hike halfway through and came back to town. I think some of the congestion in the park would be alleviated if people used the Island Explorer shuttle bus instead of driving their own cars. There is not enough parking in the park for the number who want to park. If we go back it will be after school starts on a weekday. As for diets, I don't do diets, but I do have a meal plan that I try to stick to most of the time - lean protein and lots of non starchy vegetables. I normally don't eat rice, potatoes, pasta, other grains, or bread due to the carb content. They tend to spike my blood sugar and I feel so much better when it is in normal ranges. I'd like to lose a few pounds, but the Cushing's syndrome and the gall bladder issue have made that difficult. Occasionally I will drop an ounce or two. At least I know why I have difficulty losing, unlike before.
  2. Good morning, everyone! According to the forecast, we have another beautiful day in store for us. Mostly sunny skies with a high around 70F. But, the pollen count is high, so I'll be carrying the tissue box around with me. Welcome back to heading the Daily to @kazu Jacqui. Safe travels home for @StLouisCruisers Sandi and Dennis. Thanks for the great job while Jacqui was cruising. Also, welcome home to @Overhead Fred Fred and Mitzi. Today after the gym I will be sewing the borders on my quilt to take it in for quilting. It is too big to fit through my machine. Today's meal sounds good for a summer day. I like the toasted seeds on top of this one. There is good protein in the salad and carbs are at a reasonable level. https://www.eatingwell.com/recipe/277838/feta-kale-pear-salad/ Kale has so many health benefits it is worth a try. It can benefit the digestive system, help regulate blood pressure and contains tons of vitamins and minerals. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/270435 I like the lemon dressing in this one, but then, I like anything lemony. https://detoxinista.com/kale-pear-feta-salad/ This one sounds really good, but it is an example of taking something healthy and making it not so healthy. The calories are way up in this one as is the carb count, but if you can handle it, I bet it would be delicious. https://www.blueapron.com/recipes/fried-feta-kale-salad-with-pear-roasted-sweet-potato Wishing you all a wonderful day!
  3. Good morning, everyone! We are going to have lots of sunshine and temperatures in the low 70s today. Sounds good to me! Slept well last night, but I sure was stiff this morning. I can tell all of the numbing agent they injected has worn off. I have an appointment with Pain and Spine people on Tuesday and hopefully they will order the full nerve ablation procedure. Today we are going over to Mt. Pleasant to have dinner with some friends from Ohio. I had the daughter in class back in Ohio and she is now living in Ohio and working at Central Michigan University. Her parents come up for extended periods to help with the kids while Stacey is working. Welcome back @kazu Jacqui. I'm sure Ivan was super excited to see you. Bon Voyage to @Heartgrove and @YourWorldWithBill. @StLouisCruisers Congratulations to Morgan. I'm sure the whole family is excited for her. Today's meal is not Eleanor. Since it is Cinco de Mayo, let's have fajitas! We'll start off with some easy chicken fajitas. You can use the low carb tortillas and Greek yogurt to keep it really healthy. https://www.spendwithpennies.com/easy-chicken-fajitas/ This is another chicken fajita recipe. I like the addition of the lime and avocado. https://natashaskitchen.com/chicken-fajitas-recipe/ And here we have a recipe for beef fajitas from Ree Drummond. https://www.thepioneerwoman.com/food-cooking/recipes/a11595/beef-fajitas/ Wishing you all a wonderful day!
  4. Good morning, everyone! It is cloudy this morning, but no rain in the forecast. Temps are supposed to get to the mid 70s. A perfect day to me! Heading to the gym this morning and then to nephew Samson's soccer game this afternoon. Sue has been busy planting flowers. The front of the house is looking pretty good! Today's meal sounds good to me. I like cod and snow peas. This recipe is super easy and sounds so tasty! https://www.eatingwell.com/recipe/279032/crispy-cod-with-charred-snow-peas-creamy-herb-sauce/ This is a unique recipe in that I did not find any variations of the same thing. So I did find some other crispy cod recipes, just not with the snow peas and sauce. This one is similar, but it has snap peas and leeks. https://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/cod-lemony-leeks-snap-peas-and-herbs This last one actually has a coating to make it crispy, but still sounds pretty healthy. As with the others, you can serve it with any vegetable you prefer. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/276893/crunchy-pecorino-baked-cod/ Here's hoping one of these looks good to you! Wishing you all a wonderful day!
  5. I did wear two different shoes to school one day. We were halfway through the day before I noticed. I was surprised none of the kids noticed. If they did, they were too polite to say anything. Back from my regularly scheduled PCP appointment. My A1C has recovered nicely since my surgery in December. They tend to pump you full of bad stuff for the A1C and it took its toll on me last winter. But, I'm back in the 5% club and that makes me happy. So, @Quartzsite Cruiser Lenda, I am going to turn down the carrot cake, as much as I do like it. I want to keep the A1C where it is.
  6. Good morning, everyone! It is a rainy start to the day here in mid-Michigan. Temps are supposed to get to the low 70s today. We have a string of great weather coming up. Sue went out and bought flowers for her pots yesterday and got them all planted. The long range forecast does not show any chance of frost. If there is, what is planted is in pots and can come into the garage overnight. My back is still happy after the test injections yesterday, but it is showing me how bad the problems are in my neck. The neck has taken over in producing pain for me. If it isn't one thing, it is another. Carrot cake is divine. You might think it is strange that I would like carrot cake when I dislike cooked carrots so much. Well, the carrots are disguised well in carrot cake. All that sugar takes over. I don't have carrot cake very often due to the carb count, but I enjoy it when I do. If you want to take something to a pot luck or family dinner, this will get the raves. Here's our first recipe: https://scientificallysweet.com/ultimate-moist-carrot-cake-with-cream-cheese-frosting/ The last recipe did not include coconut and pineapple. I happen to like them in the carrot cake. This one cuts the calories and carbs by making the cake just one layer with frosting on the top. That is doable, but it would be my whole meal. https://www.skinnytaste.com/super-moist-carrot-cake-with-cream/ I'm sure this one is exquisite. Or it should be for 770 calories per slice along with 123 g of carbohydrate. That is more than my daily allotment! It uses applesauce as a sweetener and for moisture. No pineapple or coconut in this one. https://www.lecremedelacrumb.com/worlds-best-carrot-cake-with-cream-cheese-frosting/ Wishing you all a wonderful day!
  7. Venue on South Industrial Hwy. It is just off Stadium Drive.
  8. @ger_77 Wonderful news! I think we all let out that breath we've been holding at the same time. Did anyone notice a hot wind? And I think the Dailyites are thrilled for you and Maurice.
  9. Good afternoon. The test injections were quick and easy. We went to Lowe's right afterwards and normally walking around the store would be painful. Today it wasn't. Even standing in one place did not produce pain. When we got home I took a walk around the block and was able to go all the way with only one stop to talk briefly with a neighbor. The trillium is in full bloom here. These pictures are for the Garden Club.
  10. Good morning, everyone! It is going to be a bright sunshiny day here in mid-MIchigan. I made it home last night around midnight. I stopped in Detroit for a program that a friend was involved in. After the program he wanted to go to dinner, so we went. But the restaurant was in Ann Arbor, just a tad out of the way. It was worth it, though! Sue was waiting for me when I got home. So we sat up and chatted for a bit. I have the test injections for the nerve ablation today. If these help for a few hours, the nerve ablation is a go. Fingers crossed! That is the only thing on the agenda for me. @marshhawk Annie, hugs to you and Chuck. I hope you can get some help from Chuck's oncologist. I'm delighted to hear how improved things are for you, @JazzyV Vanessa! It is a shame that it took so long to get to this point, but thank goodness the surgery was successful! @smitty34877 Terry, be careful with the shoulder, but you know what you can do and not do. @ger_77 Gerry, I am thrilled that you have tentative surgery dates for Maurice. We do want him in tip top shape for our Dailyite cruise in November 2025. Yesterday's pesto chicken looked good to me. We may have that or something similar for Farkle Friday tomorrow night. For those who want something a little different, the sorrel pesto could be used. This recipe replaces some of the basil in the pesto with sorrel leaves. https://www.greatbritishchefs.com/recipes/sorrel-pesto-recipe Sorrel is described as a lemony flavored green. It is a powerhouse of vitamins and help support digestive health, eyesight, and more. But, it comes with a word of caution as it is high in oxalates and those with kidney stone histories may want to opt for lower oxalate foods. This next recipe adds in some hazelnuts. https://sabrinacurrie.com/sorrel-pesto-recipe-west-coast-food/ What do you do with sorrel pesto? Pretty much the same way you use basil pesto. It is perfect for mixing through a pasta dish. Here's a sorrel pesto rice bowl. https://plumscooking.com/recipes/sorrel-pesto-rice-bowl/ Wishing you all a wonderful day!
  11. @kazu Hugs to you. Holding you close today. @atexsix Bruno, I am glad you trusted us enough to tell us how things were going and how you were feeling. This is a hard time, but we will send you warm thoughts whenever you need them. I am near Toledo killing time. I’m going to a friend’s presentation in Detroit at 6:00 pm and I am way too early.
  12. Rabbit, rabbit, white rabbit! Good morning, everyone! Breakfast with Tom today and then I hit the road towards home. The dinner sounds great. Wishing you all a wonderful day.
