Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Yes, and a few days later they were right back at the same level, And we were onboard 30 days. We never watched TV but they felt compelled to watch a movie or news every afternoon 2-5/6 PM Luckily they did not at night.
  2. I believe that Blacklane uses Google Maps. It will be booked based on the fastest, not shortest, route. However, recently on the way to the airport, we were diverted due to road construction which took us out of the way about 10 miles but took 45 mins extra. There was no additional charge. We are lucky we live about 2 miles beyond the 50-mile gratis. When we have an early morning flight, we always choose to travel and stay at a hotel near the airport and take their shuttle bus the next morning. Blacklane doesn't care where you want to go and they have dropped us numerous times at a hotel within the 50 mi limit without issue, so it's something to consider.
  3. My guess is they are outsourcing to countries with call centers that are much less expensive. Who knows, CS may improve as the log term SS employees have gotten lazy, and I have seen numerous complaints on here and other sites complaining about the CS. But who really knows.
  4. Posted this on another group but it was removed bc it was a negative post against SS. We were on the Muse from 17 April until 16 May. The Muse has the televisions built in to the mirrors, a dreadful idea because the TV can not be watched without severe glare. The sound cannot radiate from the TV, so there are external speakers placed against the walls.. Our neighbors played their TV so loud we could easily understand the words coming from the TV. We complained several times and I finally had a meeting with the office in charge of the suites, but not the Hotel Director. He offered to move us to a same size suite if we liked. This was about 8 days into a 30 day cruise, and we were very settled, plus we loved our butler. I asked why can't you move the perpetrators. He stated that the next sailing was completely full and these folks were on that cruise also, so they would have to move them back to the original suite. Well, disembarkation day came, and guess what? The neighbors were disembarking also, not continuing onward as the officer said, lying directly to my face. This officer I found out later is only a 2 year employee of SS. Pretty bad when an officer of SS lies directly to your face.
  5. One ISS e on the Muse currently is 0C. (32f) and 40 knot winds, forcing all inside from outside venues. SS mistakenly designed Indochine and Atlantide the same size. Indochine is seldom more than 70% full
  6. So first full sea day tomorrow on the Muse crossing the Pacific from Japan to Alaska. The day is filled with many events connected to the spa and boutique, but otherwise the most boring agenda I have ever seen on a SS sea day. Just booked a Seabourn cruise. Getting fed up with SS and won’t even book a new cruise to save 5%. And BTW, Seabourn future cruise discounts booked on board are good for 3 years even if a floating deposit, SS good for 3 months
  7. My experience on the Muse currently. If you come to Atlantide at 700 you most likely will be seated right away, it’s those that prefer to dine after 800 that have to wait sometimes over an hour for a table or choose another venue such as Scappolopi (sp) or Inchocine. All other venues are reservations only. Indichine has been good, but the menu is rotated every three days back to the previous menu. Never changes from the two menus.
  8. Ship is not 100% full. We were offered to move to another ste because our neighbors play their television too loud. We too have never experienced waits like this. Something does add up here. And last night my duck was not edible it was so tough.
  9. Both pre and post . Atlantide overwhelmed by customer at 700. Then customers sit around chatting We arrived at 835 pm tonight. Not seated until 905 pm. Missed 930 show. We just booked a SB cruise. Fed up with SS and the RCL management
  10. On a past cruise, I left my jacket on the kitchen bar stool at home. I was denied entry to Tge Restaurant. They found a jacket for me to wear from the mailer D station to the table but it was 2 sizes too small. Looked ridiculous. I was able to take it off and enjoy my meal without wearing a jacket. I did have a tie however
  11. We are booking a late 2025 SB cruise in the Med. When will flightease options become available? Only have done one SB and it was pre-covid. TIA.
  12. On the Muse now. I have seen jeans and sandals on men on Casual Elegant nights and no one has said a word to the folks. At least nice slacks, nice shirt and closed toe shoes should be required of men.
  13. I wholeheartedly agree about the piano player. His piano playing is not too bad if the volume were lower, but he is an absolutely horrible singer, Must have been low bid. On previous ships the piano players have been pretty good (not my type of music) but did not sing. we too sit more toward the reception desk and if possible behind the wall near where the solo travelers gather. On the Wind in December there was the most horrible guitarist and singer in Dolce Vita which is much smaller. The waitstaff knew where we would sit every night, as far away as possible.
  14. On the Muse currently. Have 130 days on SS. We have two more booked but we just booked a Seabourn where we only have 18 days onboard. SS has basically no enrichment or learning, the quality of the entertainment outside the Venetian has deteriorated, and the food quality has gone down. There is and rush for dinner at 700, and we have often not even been able to get in to Atlantide until almost 850. Too many people at one so food is slow coming out and then folks sit around and chat while others are waiting for a table. There is a lot of new competition out there, Ritz, Explora, Atlas, Four Seasons and Eclipse not to mention Seabourn and Regent. SS needs to step it up a little but afraid the new CEO will take it down further.
  15. Is there a chance that Crystal is going to grow (they certainly need more ships and itineraries) but are or could be a great line and that BM i moving back under Manfredi? Or the other ultra-luxury lines, Scenic, Ritz, and upcoming Four Seasons, really need some seasoned guidance from someone deeply embedded in the ultra-luxury trenches.
