Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Gala night now on December 29, Roaring 20s theme. Another gala on New Year's Eve, no theme announced.
  2. Looks like the night of the 28th is smart attire...wonder if they will have a third gala night on this voyage!
  3. Some of us were hoping for USB ports, and more accessible outlets by the bed -- any chance these were added?
  4. My husband uses a CPAP (BiPAP actually, but I don't think that affects the question). On our last trip (which was our first on QM2) we used an extension cord that crossed the room to the outlets at the desk. I read somewhere (but can't find it now of course) that you can plug the machine into the outlet next to the bed, (where the lamp is?). It sounds like that is a UK style outlet, and our plug is North American standard, so for our upcoming trip we could use an adapter. But then there's no lamp for him? Anyone do this? It really was a bit inconvenient with the cord stretched across. We are traveling in a sheltered balcony cabin.
  5. This may be a ridiculously naive question -- and I've only done one trip on the QM2 (NY/Halifax/Boston/NY), but --- in the evenings on our cruise in the Queen's Room, there were one or two people that I assumed were female host dancers -- they sat on the side, and they would dance with the various men who asked them. They were excellent dancers, clearly did not really know the men they were dancing with, seemed to never do two dances with the same man...But here, I only see mention of gentlemen hosts. Any idea what this was about?
  6. I'd agree that talking on cell phones in a restaurant/ in the Britannia Dining Room is very rude. But does everyone else really think that reading, for example, the newspaper on the cell phone is rude? It doesn't intrude on anyone else's space...or is this against the decorum we all hope to maintain on the QM2?
  7. By dinnertime, some of us elderly couples have spent 12 waking hours together, and could use a bit of time to catch up on other family, friends, and the news!
  8. Before our cruise (we just left the QM2 this morning) I asked for low sodium meals. Every evening the server brought me a copy of the next day's menu and I indicated what I wanted. The food was superb, brilliantly seasoned, and not salty at all. You can ask what kinds of special menus they can cater to.
  9. Yet another dress code question: for a black and white night, would it be permitted to wear a silver ballgown? I know, I know, but I don't have a long black dress, only a fancy shorter black cocktail dress, and I am so eager to wear the ballgown...
  10. Does the medical center have Paxlovid or should we bring our own supply?
