If my memory serves me correctly in the evenings they usually served  a red and a white by the glass. I don’t recall a wine by the glass menu in the evening. If you had a drinks package they served their choice of wines

You must be thinking of some other cruise line. Oceania has always had a list of choices by the glass with multiple reds & whites, not just either a house red or a house white.

I did notice on my recent Marina cruise that there were a couple of wines not listed on the Terrace menu that were on the GDR & Specialty restaurant menus, but if you asked for them in the Terrace you could usually get them. I guess I'll find out if that works or not in a couple of weeks from now on Regatta.

  2. I've never worried about #1, I figure that's between the worker and Oceania.

#2. Which one is the Lido deck? Never seen one of those on Oceania. Do you consider that 9 with the Pool, 10 above it, or 11 where the walking track is?

I have noticed some blankets on the pool deck area.

MEFiowa, I am wondering how you are able to cruise on O at 350-500 per day per couple. The prices I am seeing are more $350-500 per person per day. Any info would be appreciated.

You did have to go and say Beetlejuice 3 times, didn't you? 🙄

That being said, we met some folks (at the bars) who did not even know anything about Adele or her music.  We are a pretty old group of cruisers (typical of long crossings) and some are completely out of touch with contemporary music.

Oddly enough over the years I've found this to be something I've encountered again and again with Oceania cruisers. I'm not really sure it's age related, they simply are not interested in pop or rock music. Not everyone, but enough to make me ponder it over the years. I'm ok with it, when there are rock trivia questions it usually gives me an advantage.

I've wondered why the string quartets are always female?

  5. I'm not sure there are any wines by the glass that are not already on the Simply More list. When did you book? What program did you book under?

    More information needed.

There’s no definite answer to what way is better - ship's tour vs private. Not just for different people but also for me personally. We used to participate in a lot of private tours, and while many of them were throughly enjoyable on several occasions our experience was so bad that we regretted joining that tours completely. And I’m not talking about the guides or program inclusions, it’s the fellow travellers who made it unbearable. For some different reasons we started to book more ship's tours lately and we found some of them to be better than others with many that were very good choices as well. And at least we never felt being so badly affected by the other people on the tour simply because of no need to be in so close contact with all of them.

So I don’t think I would recommend anyone to do ship’s tour or private because it all based on personal needs and expectations.

So did you get stuck on that tour with the couple that were end time preppers that spent most of the tour telling you about their Subaru Outback that is the best car ever made? I thought I was the only one subjected to them.

Boarding in different grade suites happens at different times …. upper suites first followed by PH, followed by Concierge, followed by the rest.

So, if you have a lower suite have a ‘local lunch’ and board leisurely  later in the afternoon. Most people board early, have lunch onboard, wait for their suites to be called. PH are usually 1pm,  Concierge 2pm, Others 3pm. (Not sailed Oceania for 14 months so please correct me if I’m wrong).

Well, not quite that simple. Actually the time your room is READY is determined by your suite grade. Your time to board is determined by what you select when you do the online check in. For my upcoming cruise I'm in an Oceanview room, yet my boarding time is 11 am. To further complicate the issue those that are Platinum or higher have Priority Terminal Check in, whatever that means. Since I have it I just get in the shortest line and if anyone questions me(which has only happened once) I just tell them I have Priority Check in.

On Riveria now. I have booked all the current release cruises I chose to take. There will be a new cruise release for booking on 4/17 which is four (4) days after we disembarked. I can buy a FCC now anboard, getting all its benefits, and have my TA book our newly selected cruise on 4/17. This is the primary advantage of a FCC.

Are you sure you're getting the same amount of SBC? Ours in Feb was $250 if we picked a cruise or $100 if purchasing an FCC, or to make FF happy I'll call it a FCDC, not to be confused with the FDIC or the Federal Communications Commission.

  10. I guess no one is trying to get a Brazil Visa anymore, or they're not having trouble with it from the lack of post on this thread.

I, along with several others, posted about being charged twice for the visa. I never did anything about it as I didn't want to screw up getting the Visa. Yesterday while checking my credit card account I see an $80.90 credit on my card from VFS America. FWIW, I did receive mine and my wife's Visa in the last few weeks. Today I got this letter.

    Dear Customer,

I hope this email finds you well.

Regarding your recent application for a Brazil eVisa, upon reviewing our records, we noticed that a duplicate payment was inadvertently received for your application.

Please rest assured that we have promptly taken action to rectify this issue. A refund for the duplicate payment has been processed and credited back to the original card used for the transaction. You can expect to receive this refund within approximately 25 working days, depending on your bank's processing time.

Should you have any further questions or concerns regarding your eVisa application or the refund process, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

    Thanks & Regards,

    VFS Global.

Thanks. Do you know whether it is possible to leave the ship at 4 in the morning?

This is something you need to discuss with your TA or Oceania Rep. It probably is not an issue. FWIW, I agree with the other poster about 4am not being early enough. I wouldn't go so far as to say stay in a hotel, but I'd probably shoot for getting off at 3am. I have no idea how far the airport is from where the ship ports. That might be good information to find out. Of course, handling your luggage will all be your responsibility.

Do you have an opinion about B&R's soft-side/fabric vs. hard-side plastic luggage for checked baggage?

I have no experience with the hard side, but I do have 4 pieces of the black Baseline soft side. I have had good luck with it, although I did have to send my carry on in to have it repaired. I don't know the weight of the hard side, but if it's lightweight that might be a factor.

I am worried about some of the new restrictions as my carry on is the shorter, but wider international version with 2 wheels. If I had it to do over again I'd get the 4 wheel spinner that is narrower, but a little taller. I do like the compression feature.
