  1. And you actually believe them? The food served at Crab Shack is sourced the same as most every other item in the larder: shipped frozen in a container from a supplier far, far away from the ship's actual homeport.

I was lucky enough to be on Island Princess which is the only Princess ship calling at Icy Strait Point. A pound and half of King Crab with all the fixin's for $55 at The Crab Station. Way more food than two dinners at Crab Shack. (All the online reviews calling that restaurant overpriced must be from yokels who consider Red Lobster a good value).

They were serving Tracy's Crabcakes on the ship the other day. Just felt the rumours were true since Crab Shack is on the same day we are in Juneau.

  2. Nope. Unless you want to be squeezed together with people smoking cigars and drinking rum to watch a cabaret, go ahead. I went with family (we are Cuban) on a "land" trip to Cuba and it was probably the only part of the trip we didn't like.

  3. I wouldn't really focus on the ship in this case. They are all "new" compared to the rest of the fleet. The Vista/Horizon will have like the "Skyride" or the "Imax" theatre, but that's not enough to pick one ship over the other. They are both practically the same ship, just the Vista/Horizon is larger and more crowded.

The "premium" to go on the Horizon or the Vista is not worth it. You will have fun on either cruise. Just pick an itineary you will enjoy the most.

  4. I am currently looking at cruises for Spring Break 2019, and don't know what to book. I know I want to go to the Caribbean, want at least 6 days, but I don't know what else. What ship, what itinerary, and why? FYI, we are first-time cruisers.

Vague thread. Would list options before posting as itineraries vary by week.

  5. I will be sailing on the Dream in May. Which dining room is used for the early dining. Does anyone know what the seat is for the tables by the windows? thanks for any help

All of the AFT dining room is used for Early and the upper floor of the MID dining room is used for Early as well. Can't help you with the table #s, but we prefer the MID dining room as less vibrations from the motors. We chose YTD for that reason as YTD is only in the MID dining room on the lower floor. You can ask for a window if you get there early enough :)!

  6. We were a group of 4 on the Eurodam. We were going to pay about $900 to upgrade to a balcony, but we decided to stick to the interior. The J cabins on the bottom are very roomy and we didn't feel cramped at all. The only issue really was just having one bathroom, but luckily, Deck 1 has rarely used (and very clean) public restrooms conveniently just a few doors down from our room. Our TA just advised us that the balcony cabin was going to be a squeeze and even deterred us from an ocean-view as it is the same size as the balcony. Anyways, hope whatever you decide works for you!

The bunk was also over the top of my mother and I's head. She frequently bumped her head the entire week, but I never had issues ;).

  7. Years ago, when our ship docked at the Outer Mole pier in Key West, the shuttle driver allowed us to get off the shuttle once we left the Naval Base. Do they still allow you to do this, or do you have to go all the way tot he Mallory Square drop off?

If I recall correctly, they stopped either right out of the Naval Base or close by Nov 2016.
