No what happens is these rate codes are often capacity controlled to only a few cabins and when somebody clicks on the offer, it holds a cabin for them for a period of time while they check out. If they don't check out, the cabin goes back into the queue. So check back often in case people abandon the website and don't end up booking.

thank you , i should have called weeks ago everything is sold out till sept for offers. i have oct nov and feb booked already, so was just looking for last min to hop on .

With embarkation or debarkation...now that I've done it I can clear things up..

Embarkation...if you are driving in then you have to park at cedar Grove parking lot.

Lot opens officially at 9:45....if u come earlier you will be turned away.

The Norfolk police control lots. Carnival has zero responsibility there. The lot opened 7 min early.

    Handicap parking is very close.

The earlier you arrive the closer to the busses you will be. Porters get your bags quickly and get you on a bus.

Your checked bags go on a uhaul and they take those later. Just take a carryon.

At the port they filter you in and get you checked in. Follow appt times. We were onboard at 10:45.

You can be dropped off if u live local. Porters are available.

Debark...self assist people were walking off at 7:15...

If u don't self assist you go to a location and wait until the bags in your assigned section are offloaded. They will then let u know and you just have to be patient in line...

Thank you . Do you know how much is parking there per day?

I will try that, then. I was thinking they used an all-in-one product like shampoo/bodywash combined and I couldn't rememeber the colors of any of it either. Last time we sailed was 2019, I just could not remember the products they provided at all, lol. Thank you all for your help.

Crazy the products they use aren't clear colored, though.

no problem its greenish blue color and its very lightly scented, so my clothes came out perfect, washed socks boxers shorts and t shirts.  then hung them in the shower daily, each took about a day and half to fully dry so do it a day or so before you need them, lol worked great on my last b2b.

I've used the body wash when we ran out of Tide travel packs. Works fine. Their body wash doesn't have a very strong or lingering fragrance either, I think, so if your toddler is sensitive to that it should also not be an issue I assume.

Our experience unlike the drain plug not working was that the drain pull didn't have the knob to grab onto to pull it up. Maintenance came and just bent the end into a 90-degrees turn.

yep so many using the shampoo, but the greenbody wash they provide is much better imo.

I don't think so.  And we aren't sure of the nuances of what the waitstaff told the OP.  Lots of conclusion jumping here...

i was told later by a dinning room manager that it was at the chefs request. but not sure if it was fleet wide or just that ship that we must finish the first one before getting the second one at the table. now i did send something back one night (dessert fully cooked not melted cake) and i got a replacement fast. so no problem  if you didnt like it you couldnt get another,.

So, so far no one who responded has had the same experience as the OP.

Let's give Carnival the benefit of the doubt that this was an isolated incident instead of going off on Carnival as a whole.

yes , this may be just a chefs rule aboard the elation, it is what i was checking, ill be on celebration next month so i wanted to know if this is a new thing.

I've always been able to get them at the same time of the rare occasion I do actually order 2 entrees, so unless this is a very new (like, within the last 6 weeks) policy, then there shouldn't be any reason why they can't do so.

Yes this was last week on elation.  Not sure if chef on board policy or fleet wide now.

We (me and my wife) will be on this ship in January for the 1st time ! 🙂 The only thing I wish was that there were a steakhouse and an Italian dining venue available. Still can't believe folks would rather eat sushi INSTEAD of some great Italian food OR spending $80 for the Chef's Table ? NOT that there's absolutely anything wrong with those dining choices I just never could develop a taste for Sushi (except the veggie type) and as good as the Chef's Table may be $80 per person is a little stiff in the old wallet. But that means we won't have to pack any 'business casual' clothing for the specialty dining venues. We both are so excited to see the Elation before she eventually sails into history and becomes a personal fond memory for us both.

Yes I do miss the italian place. I totally forgot it didnt have one when I boarded.  I like to go at least once and if dinning room food is poor. Ill go the rest of the trip.

  10. Pleased to say all went smoothly ,security and checkin, fast efficient and i was on board by 10:50am as a platinum guest.

Buffet on lido  so far is ran really well no big lines like out of the Breeze-texas .  Staff is friendlier too. Seem like will be a great cruise.

Apparently a lot of people have no problem paying $48 per person for a meal on a ship where your meals are included.  For us, there are still several steakhouses around us where we can get an excellent steak meal for $25.  We've paid more for steaks before, but those places certainly were no better than the ones where we paid $20-25.  In fact, they weren't really as good.  So we will just let others pay that if they choose to do so.

you are correct , no way im paying $50 out of principle.    ill go to the italian place till they jack that up too i guess,

  12. nothings a deal breaker for me in this latest email. i do have 2 entrees at dinner at times . never 3 .  seems odd iv been on so many cruises not once have i seen anyone order 3 entrees. im not sure why they felt they need to put a charge on it.  the steakhouse is over priced, keep in mind you wont be eating in the mdr that night so an extra 50 is a bit much imo.

Carnival Diamond here. Their constant cuts and cheapening of the cruise experience, going back way before COVID, have pushed me to Diamond Plus with Royal and Platinum with Princess (Elite after the cruise I literally just booked).

Now I only sail Carnival to try a new ship, travel with one specific group, or combine with a family visit to Louisiana because only Carnival has ships in New Orleans year round.

Good idea, ill go on the new celebration in dec and that will be all ill book with Car till they reverse the cuts.

Considering a large portion of these employee’s pay is the gratuities that Carnival bills to its guests - it is very possible the food costs Carnival more than the crew. So it makes sense to cut back more on the food.

Yep, i keep hearing short staff excuse. Not what im seeing at all.  Cutting back on food and open sections saves them money.  Iv even skipped breakfast on none brunch days.   Thats what they want.
