  1. If you go to Princess.com, scroll to the bottom of the main screen and find “Accessible Cruising”. All info should be there. Email should be sent to both accessofficeprincess@princesscruises.com guestmedical@hagroup.com After sending back forms - and a letter from nephrologist stating that passenger is in good health to travel - we received clearance from both of those offices. It did take them quite a while to respond btw. (I should mention that my husband has mobility issues so he rents a scooter, too, and we need to send a form for that.) I believe that since you’re bringing the dialysate with you, it’s pretty straightforward.
  2. We are just back from a 7 day cruise from NJ to Bermuda. DH did manual - but we could have brought machine with us. I’m less afraid of issues (in case of power or internet outages) when he does manual. We brought the dialysate cartons with us and put large, white stickers with our names and cabin # on all 4 sides. When we arrived at port to drop luggage, they added one of their stickers and they transported them, along with our suitcases, to the cabin. Very, very easy. Celebrity provides plastic waste bags and a sharps container (in case he needs heparin). We are on a 14-day Princess cruise in November and he’ll probably do manual again. We’ll bring the cartons with us to Brooklyn, label them on all sides and drop them with luggage. The boxes are too heavy to carry on board! We have already filled out all the special access forms for Princess so we should be good to go! We really hope you will go. It has really been wonderful for both of us to be able to cruise again. Celebrity makes it very easy; we hope the same is true of Princess. Please share your experience with all of us after your trip. Thank you in advance!
  3. Weather forecast shows rain/thunderstorms through next Thursday. So glad you're coming in a day early. Travel safe!
  4. Very, very excited to follow along with you and Iain. Greenland/Iceland is on our radar for 2024. Travel safe!
  5. I think you’d like him a lot: Fun and funny with a wicked sense of humor. At the very least, say hi from Carole and Aubrey please!
  6. I believe that Lyle is a Retreat Concierge - didn’t realize he was in training. We originally met him on the Millennium this past December, where he was an Effy Ambassador. We thought he was fabulous, just the right amount of contact without becoming intrusive. There seemed to be quite a few Retreat passengers on our cruise who kept Mar and Lyle very busy. Looking forward to following along on your next adventure, Jim!
  7. We’re just off the Summit. We were RS - #6139 - and loved it. Unfortunately, as the ship was near capacity, we were not offered Blu menus - only Main and Luminae. Btw, we found that it was chilly in the bars and casino in the evening. AC working at full blast, I def should have brought heavier sweaters.
  8. It was a real pleasure meeting Charla and Jeremy during our Summit cruise. I do not at all want to hijack Charla’s review: she’s a wonderful and thoughtful writer and I love her reviews. But a few additional comments, if I may: We were in the Retreat - #6139. It was lovely and Ronald and Pres were outstanding and super-helpful with some of my husband’s special needs. We thought the food in Luminae was only ok; the excellent service was far better than the food. We had dinner twice in Tuscan Grille and once in Sushi on 5. I can’t say enough good things about both. Thoroughly enjoyed! Retreat concierges Lyle and Mar are absolute sweethearts. You will love them. The casino: DH and I enjoy playing in the casino. The slots were paying well. We also played 3 Card Poker and did very well there too. It has never happened to us before that we came home with quite a bit more than we started with. Final comment: On our last sea day, the chairs on the pool deck were all taken by 7:30 am! One of the women I had been chatting with said that she got down to the pool at 5:30 am and quite a few had already been “reserved”. I’m not sure that there’s any solution to this issue but just be aware. Charla - hope you don’t mind my 2 cents, fwiw! Happy sailing, everyone
  9. Hi Jim - we also had a terrific experience in Tuscan. Based on some of Charla’s recommendations, I also had the rib-eye, small portion of lobster rigatoni, small garlic mashed and broccoli. We thoroughly enjoyed, so much so that we’re going again tonight. (Just a note: we asked for - and received - tasting portions of the sides. I hate calling for the wheelbarrow to help me out of the dining room!) Looking forward to following you again on your next adventure!
  10. DH and I are on the cruise with Charla and Jeremy too. I had the pleasure of meeting them today in the casino! Charla is charming - even more gracious and lovely in person, if you can believe that!
  11. Jam packed indeed! I found one single, lonely chair on the crowded pathway but that’s all there was! Spent quite a bit of time in the pool but the waves in there - yes! waves!! - were pretty rough at one point and I retreated to my chair. Just a note about the deck chairs: lots of towels and “things” to hold the chairs - but many stayed empty for quite a long while. I know this is a recurring issue but with ships at near capacity, come on people!
  12. Our sweet daughter is on her way over to make sure everything goes smoothly for testing. I am not to be trusted, it seems. Sangria spritz sounds perfect for toasting your birthday! See you Sunday!
  13. Can’t wait to meet you, Charla - and, of course, Jeremy too. I am working from home this week, avoiding everyone, hoping for negative tests tomorrow. (I had to work in Atlanta last week, flying both ways, meeting with buyers. It was not ideal timing but so far so good.) Will we all get to see “map dress” at sail away? What is favorite sailaway drink? When do you fly in?
  14. Thank you very much. Yes - we always used to use the service but it had been discontinued for a while. Happy cruising everyone!
  15. Can anyone on a recent Princess cruise, arriving Port Everglades, let us know if they’re offering Luggage Forwarding service again? Thank you in advance.
  16. Oh no! So sorry to hear you canceled. After our first experience, we will not hesitate to cruise again. In fact, we have about 5 more cruises already booked. We have two more this year - but those leave from NY area; we'll bring supplies on board with us. The other thing is that both Celebrity and RCCL are affiliated with DialysisAtSea cruising so, perhaps, they're more used to having supplies delivered. Once on board, the medical officer located the boxes and the dialysate arrived 10 minutes later. He only left after the boxes were safely delivered to our cabin. (Our Retreat Host was also actively involved in the process.) We had followed up repeatedly with our product supplier (Baxter) pre-cruise and it was all done to perfection. We are curious, however, how it would work if we decided to cruise out of the UK. Wondering if anyone has had that experience.
  17. Charla - you are a treasure and I can’t wait to follow along with you on your Summit Bermuda cruise. Thank you so much for all the fun. Oh wait - I’m on that cruise too and I’ll get to tell you in person how much I enjoy your cruise reporting! I’ve already booked some spa appointments but haven’t yet been able to book Specialty Dining. I’m hoping to get that accomplished once on board. Safe travels home. See you next month!
  18. We have one more Princess cruise booked for this November and after that, we've solely booked on Celebrity. We enjoyed a B2B on Celebrity this past December and that was all we needed to convince us that the Celebrity life is for us. Our Elite status on Princess doesn't do much when the rest of the experience is so lacking.
  19. Absolutely loving your review! Thank you so much for taking time from your amazing cruise to bring all of us along with you. We are on the Equinox a year from now. Already can’t wait. Meantime, I noticed that you’re also on the Summit to Bermuda on July 24. We, too! Do you mind if strangers just walk up and introduce themselves to you?
  20. We are on this sailing. The first check-in time was 11 am. See you on board!
  21. I'd be very interested to know about this, too, please.
  22. It looks like I’ll have to wait until we board. It keeps telling me that all time slots are taken. I’m actually looking for a later time slot - 8/8:30 - and still nothing. Lesson learned. Appreciate everyone’s feedback!
  23. Good to know. We’ve only cruised twice before on Celebrity - once many years ago and once this past December on the Millennium. There were fewer than 500 people on the cruise so didn’t seem to be an issue. We were in a Penthouse Suite and they were very accommodating.
  24. Thank you very much! I guess I should have looked earlier. We’ll try once on board, as you suggest. We tend to dine later in the evening so, hopefully, we’ll find a time slot available.
  25. We are on the Summit in July. We have already checked in. Trying to make reservations at Tuscan Grill and it appears that every time slot is unavailable. Is it too early or is it actually completely booked up? Thank you for any insights you can share!
