On my Galaxy S10, I went into settings/display and there adjusted the screen "zoom" and made the font size smaller.

Wow Wow Wow!!!   we are getting on in Rome and don't plan on being connected to the internet until we are safely on-board and connected thru medallion-net.

    Thanx,Jim😎

A question for those who have already been on a Medallion cruise.  How often do you actually have to produce the medallion to use it?  Just to get on and off the ship?  Or is it also necessary to produce it for all of the onboard functions?  I'm trying to decide about the accessories.  Wearing it as jewelry doesn't really appeal to me but if I have to keep pulling it out of my pocket all the time, maybe I'll go that route anyway.

The same number of times that you would have had to present your cruise card. Except at your cabin door. 😉Getting coffee at IC, whether you have coffee package or not, to get on/off the ship, to show port security. To buy a tube of toothpaste at the convenience shop, to buy your DW a trinket, Get a drink at Crooners, whether you have drink package or not, play the slot machines, go to the Spa, get a specialty burger on Lido deck. I always kept my card in my pocket in a special wallet, and keep medallion in my pocket also. No problem whatever.

If you have put a deposit down on a cruise and then buy future cruise credits, can you get your deposit back and

    use the future cruise credit??

Prior to final payment, I believe that you can apply the $100 to your booking, you will then get the appropriate OBC. Your initial deposit will not be returned but will still be applied. I think that we have actually done this.

We already have our cabin assigned for our January cruise on the Sky. Waiting for our assignment on the transatlantic on the Sky for November.  We usually get a great cabin

We too are going to be on the Sky Princess, 21 day T/A from Rome and again in January, getting on the 11th for 21 days. Are you on any of the roll-calls for those cruises?

See you aboard, Jim and Jean

Does anyone know if the fish I made on my prior Medallion cruise (CB last October) that followed me around will come back on my next medallion cruise, or do I have to make a new one?

Yes, your fish, turtle resides in your 'Play Ocean' app. Go to it on your phone or tablet and say hi to the little guy. Just checked in on mine and he is playing nicely with Jean's (DW) and Lindas (DD) tag-along.

Can't wait to see him again aboard the Sky Princess.

  7. Here is our 2cents worth. You might want to get the 3younger ones an early burger or pizza and send them to the kids club while you enjoy your dinner at the Crown Grill. You can retrieve them in time for them to join you for dessert, and if you schedule it with the head waiter once you board, there  might even be a special birthday surprise for your nephew.

On the issue of the coupon book. If you arranged through a T/A, ask them to gift each of the mini-suites the coupon book. Never hurts to ask.

I notice people on here refer to scanning your passport - does that simply mean taking a photo and uploading it or scanning in the traditional sense.

You have to align the code line on your passport to a window in the app. It then scans that line and creates a page with all of your passport info. Really kind of cool.

    Hello,

Anyone know if I can track family members that's not in the same stateroom as me with the Ocean Compass?

    Thanks!

Yes you can add other people to your 'shipmates' status. You go into Ocean Compass, click on manage shipmates. Invite other person/people to be your shipmate using their name as it appears on the ship's log. Once they have accepted your request you will be able to chat with them and locate where they are, as long as they have kept the 'find me' function of their Ocean Compass on.

Remember that when receiving  message from within the OC ap that the person receiving the message will receive no notification that a message has arrived.

The only way to see a received message is to periodically look at your ap.

I hope that they figure out a way to add a “received message” notification of some sort.

    Not true.

This texting app works just like at home. An audible ping and instant communication. This works much better than the system on the non-medallion ships.

Does that sensor just outside the door, sense the presence of your medallion and unlocks the door...

The answer is yes. I hung my pants on a hanger in the closet with the medallion in the pocket. While lying on the bed watching TV, I heard the door unlocking, frequently. After moving the medallion away it stopped. Now you must understand that I don't think of this any more than a funny anecdote since I don't believe there are people on a cruise ship looking to get into my room.

Please help me.  what am I missing?  My wife and I are baffled about all the pomp, hype, and promise given to this project over the past two years for what apparently is a glorified cruise card.

Only you can answer this question. Please come back to this thread when you return and let us all know exactly what you got out of it.

How doyou hear this ping?  Is it on the medallion or do you have to carry your device to hear it on the Ocean Compass app? I think I know the answer but just for clarity.

Same as texting at home, the audible alert that you have an incoming message is on the device that you are currently using to text with, your phone or tablet. as others have pointed out, there is no need to be on the internet to use this function or any of the other functions associated with the medallion. Oder drinks from your phone, find your shipmates, locate and navigate to a particular venue, check your folio, gamble, order room service breakfast, etc. The medallion itself is a silent disk.

We are taking a family cruise to Alaska in June.

The published Medallion info indicates that we will be able to communicate throughout the ship, the Royal.

Does anyone know how this will work?

Yes we do. If medallion is completely up and running it is a wonderful 'new' communication device. You will need to download 'Ocean Compass'. Once aboard the ship everyone in a cabin will be listed as "shipmates" automatically. You can add other shipmates by typing in their name ( as it appears on the ships register) and inviting them to be your shipmate. They then have to accept that request. It is that simple, but also a little cumbersome for a big group, but well worth the time taken.

You can message anyone of your shipmates directly, and they will get an audible ping just like texting at home. I believe that you can set up groups but we do not have first hand knowledge of that.

Once you have linked everyone together you can use the large screens by the elevators to communicate with or 'find' any of your shipmates as well as your smart device. The 'finding shipmates' function is fun and easy to use, it is real-time, and provided my wife the comfort of knowing I had made it back to the ship before sail-away, and she watched my progression thru the ship back to the cabin, stopping briefly for a gin and tonic.
