  1. I love this forum. It has so much information on everything anyone would want to know! Thanks for all who answer everyone's questions!!

We will be cruising May 22-29,2016. We are doing the Inside Passage. I was wondering if there is any chance that we will see the Northern Lights at that time. I know it's better in the winter, but I'm hoping to see some colours. :)

  2. Yes we are mobile, and we do plan on doing "walk off" debarkation. We will each have a backpack and a rolling suitcase.

We are going to be booking a shuttle service, but not through Celebrity. I would prefer to not use the SkyTrain, as we are not familiar with it, and how it works.

We port back in Vancouver on a Sunday, so I'm hoping that there won't be a rush hour to worry about.

Thanks again for all your responses! They are all greatly appreciated!:)

  3. I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum or not for my question.

We are going on the Infinity next May for a cruise to Alaska. We port from Vancouver.

We get back to Vancouver at 7am, and I was wondering if a flight out at 1:15pm is going to be good. We plan on taking a shuttle to the airport after we disembark.

Should I be looking for an earlier, later flight or would this be a good time? We are from Ontario, so it's just a Domestic flight.

  4. Thanks for all the answers to my questions! I think we have decided it would be best if we stay by the airport. It's cheaper, and we can get the hotel shuttle to our hotel. The day our cruise departs we can take a shuttle service for $15.00 ea. to the port. Post cruise we will take the sightseeing tour with airport drop off booked through Celebrity. We have lots of OBC so it won't cost us anything!

Again, thanks for all your responses!!:D

  5. We are looking at booking the Pan Pacific Hotel. Is Stanley Park (totems) very close to this hotel? I have knee problems but would love to see the totems.

Also, what is the cheapest, most economical way to get from YVR to the Pan Pacific? There will be two of us.

Has anyone done the Vancouver Sightseeing with Airport Drop Off? We were thinking about doing this tour, and just wondered if it's a good tour. Seems like the best way to see some of Vancouver and get back to the airport.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  6. Thanks so much for taking time to answer everyone's questions

    shoppie .

We are considering a stay at the Pan Pacific Hotel. Mostly because we won't be renting a car while in Vancouver. Is Stanley Park quite close to this hotel? We will be walking and I have bad knees, so I would like things that are close.

You also mentioned an airport shuttle. Is this shuttle $12.00ea. to this hotel?

And post cruise, we were thinking about the Vancouver Sightseeing With Airport Drop-Off. What are your thoughts on this excursions? Do we get picked up right at Canada Place?

Any help would be gratefully accepted!;)

  7. If you are not wine drinkers and you can tolerate the beer on the Classic package, I would not upgrade; most frozen drinks (except the ones at Slush) will be included (i.e., mudslides, pina coladas, etc. are included.) Specialty coffees are included in classic.

However, keep in mind that one non-included drink per day will probably offset the price of the premium upgrade if you get one everyday. (The premium upgrade is $11.80 pppd, and one premium martini will cost more than that.) You may want to wait until later in your cruise to try the martinis, and only upgrade for part of your cruise.

I didn't know that you could upgrade part of your cruise. I thought that even if you upgraded a few days into your cruise, they would charge you for every day.:)

  8. Pay as you go.

I find on longer cruses, I drink less as time goes on. SO I've sopped paying for drink packages, though happily take one if available to me.

It boils down to doing the math and seeing it it makes sense or not based on your preference.

For some, having 3 martinis at martini bar (3 @ $13 + 18%) is $46.02 already. Add a $9 glass of wine ($10.62) at dinner, $7 Triple americano at Al Bacio ($8.26) and you're at $64.90, the classic price, (though Martini's aren't included in this, need to upgrade for $11.80 more)

That's with no Coke, no bottled water, no fresh OJ, or any fancy frozen drink at pool.

So figure out realistically what you will drink and see.

Can you tell me approx. how much the frozen drinks cost? We are not wine drinkers, but DH likes beer, mixed drinks and we both like frozen drinks. We have the Classic Pkg. included, plus $500. OBC, and we are trying to decide if we should upgrade to the Premium Pkg. We want to try some of the martinis, and specialty coffees. What are your thoughts? Should we upgrade or not?

  9. Sorry if I seem a bit stupid, and ask what may be a simple question, but we have never cruised before.

What are tender tickets, and how do we get them?

We also don't cruise until May 2016, so it sounds like we might not need it, but I'm curious as to what they are.

  10. Can anyone please tell me what nights are formal nights on a 7 night Alaska cruise?

I was thinking day 2 and day 6, because those are not port days, but someone else had posted that the second one was on day 5. Day 5 is a port day and an afternoon port day at that.

We have never cruised with Celebrity before, so I just needed clarification.

    Thanks!!!

  11. Lois R, can you please tell me the cost of frozen drinks such as the Mudslide? We have a Classic pkg. included with our cruise, but we are trying to decide if we should upgrade to the Premium. We love the frozen drinks, and this sounds wonderful:D!!

  12. Lois R, can you please tell me the cost of frozen drinks such as the Mudslide? We have a Classic pkg. included with our cruise, but we are trying to decide if we should upgrade to the Premium. We love the frozen drinks!!

  13. We have never been on a Celebrity cruise. We are doing Alaska next May, from Vancouver RT. And I have so many questions. I apologize in advance for all the questions! LOL!!

-Can you tell me the approx. prices of the Martinis, and if you had any frozen cocktails too. We have the standard drink pkg. included but we were debating weather or not to upgrade to the Premium pkg. Was it worth it?

-Did you try any of the specialty coffees at Café al Bacio & Gelateria?

-It seems like most of the restaurants have an extra charge. Are the MDR, buffet and room service the only free restaurants? And can you get food other than room service later on at night?

-Are there shops on board where you can purchase Celebrity merchandise and duty free alcohol?

-do they have a drink of the day, and do they have souvenir glasses?

-it says that the drink pkgs. can be used in all restaurants. Do they have someone coming around in the buffet to take drink orders?

That's it for now. LOL!!! Again, sorry to bombard you with questions, but it's nice to hear of someone from the same ship and places we are going!:)

  14. We are going to be leaving from Canada Place for our Alaska cruise. Can we check our luggage somewhere so we can go to the Fly Over Canada show before we cruise? Also what are your thoughts on this show? Is it worth seeing? Any help would be gratefully appreciated!

  15. Thanks for all your replies everyone. I will just pack a variety of clothing, and be ready for whatever the weatherman throws at me! LOL!!

It seems so long away, but we are VERY excited for our first trip to Alaska! :D

I would love for it to be warm and sunny, but if it rains the whole time we are there, I don't care. We will have a blast whatever the weather will be! It's Alaska and we are going to explore regardless! A little rain or cold won't hold us back!

  16. Thank you so much for posting your review. It sounds like you had a lovely trip.

Your reviews definitely will help with my packing list. We are going about the same time as you did. Hopefully we get lots of sun and warmth.

    Thanks again for posting!!!:)

  17. Thanks again for everyone's responses. Really appreciated!!

I will be taking clothing for all weather types for sure. I live in Canada and I'm used to cold winters. I was just not sure if I would need a winter coat, mitts and boots or not. It looks like most of the time it will be in the 50's so I'm thinking a spring jacket with layers underneath should work. (I hope)!! :)
