  1. Can anyone tell me if they assign the ships a terminal the day they arrive or how does that work?

I wanted to book transportation from the cruise port to Ft. Lauderdale airport but they need to know which cruise terminal I will be at, and there seems to be quite a few.

Any help would be appreciated! 🙂

Our time in Rome has been lengthened by our ship for 2 extra hours. Im wondering if Italytours would let us remain touring Rome longer than we would have been? Maybe for a price

We will be using them for 3 ports, are all the extra tickets bought online by us? Are we going to be in any lines to purchase tickets when we get there?

Also, once we have 8 people, do we have to pay then, or can we wait closer to the tour date?

What is the date that you will be in Rome? Because our day in Rome is Friday Sept. 27th, and our time in Rome has not been extended. We still leave port at 7pm from what it says on my calendar.

Thank you so much for your response! You alleviated my stress level. We were thinking about booking Pompeii/Amalfi tour but thought it would be too much for them. That’s the only part of the trip that I haven’t booked for them.

If you think the Pompeii part will be too much for them, you could contact Italytours.EU to see if there are any spots left on our tour. It is the Classic Amalfi Coast tour. It goes to Amalfi Coast, Positano, and Revello. I'm not sure if it's full or if we have room for more. Just a thought! 😄

You should probably tell people the day of this tour and make sure you post on your roll call too! Also, look on the other social media sites to see if there's a group set up.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will post on the roll call as well. We have 5 people so far. They will check 10 days before the cruise to tell us what our options are if we still don't have enough people. I hope we get to go as it sounds amazing.😁😁

Since it is through the ship the bus will be parked just a few steps from the ship so no worries.

Thank you Keith for easing my mind.🙂  I feel a lot better about taking this excursion now. I know the ship will wait for us, but I didn't want to be "that couple" to hold the ship up. This is the first time our excursion has been that close to sail time.

Today we are docked at the port.

This is my third visit to the port since the port entrance gate was moved.

On the first visit we were disembarking the ship.  Most recently last September  we were embarking this ship.

Today the port stop is a stop on our voyage.

For those who want to get off the ship and walk to the new port entrance I would recommend against it.  It might be a long walk but it also would involve walking not only on a sidewalk but on the actual road.

Some have asked about catching the train.  Give yourself a lot of time.  Why?

Because you need to take the in port shuttle and how often it runs varies.  Today it took awhile.

Once you are dropped off the walk to the train station is a greater distance than before.

Your other options are a bus or a taxi.

For those who like to have the option of finding a tour on the fly the one positive with the change of entrance for the port is that you have a bunch of vendors at the in-port shuttle drop off trying to sell you tours.  I didn't take a photo of all the vendors but just took one of a sign.

Personally I am sorry that the entrance was moved.  I always enjoyed the simplicity of walking from ship to the entrance and walking the town from that area.

I do realized that the benefits to the change is better port security and the ability to handle more ships than ever before.

This will be our first trip to Europe. Can you please tell me how long the walk is from the ship to where we would catch our bus for our tour? Our tour is scheduled to get back at 6:15pm and our ship leaves at 7:00pm. I am not a fast walker and I'm wondering how much time it takes to get back to the ship. (It is a ship sponsored excursion.)

I would love to but it doesn't look like we'll be there on the same day according to your signature. I'm there on August 14th. 😞 I've even tried looking up which other ships are in port with us that day to try and post on their roll call but we all arrive at different times so that wouldn't work either.

That's too bad. Would love to have you along on our excursion. You could try calling Italy Tours to see if they have a group started for  this tour for the date you will be there.

I have them booked for the same four tours (although still waiting on 2 more to get our minimum # of participants for Florence).  Just hoping we make it to Positano on the Pompeii tour. I am half tempted to switch to and try a get enough people to book the Amalfi Coast tour bc I really want to see more of Positano than just from the viewpoint from above. Thanks for your post!

We have a tour of the Amalfi Coast already going and we still have room for more if you're interested. The tour is with Italy Tours.  😁😁

  9. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone.

And kokopelli-az , I was looking at their website, as I have read a number of great reviews on them. I think this is who we will go with. They are the only ones so far that said they could drop us off at our hotel. But I think we will just take a taxi from the hotel to the cruise port.:classic_rolleyes:

  10. Can anyone who has been to Barcelona suggest a company that will drop us off in front of our hotel on La Rambla?

There are only 2 of us, so a car would be fine. I have e-mailed a few companies and they say that they can't promise this, but they will do their best.

Apparently sometimes they close La Rambla down to traffic at certain times of the day, etc. There is a taxi stop right out front our hotel.

I have bad knees and can't walk far pulling a suitcase. Thus the reason for the drop off AT our hotel.

Any help would be wonderful! :classic_rolleyes:

We used ItalyTours.EU (Classic Amalfi) last November when sailing on Holland Aerica's Veendam. Cristina at ItalyTours.EU was very responsive, organized and reliable during the booking phase, which helped ease our minds about the excursion. She was also a pleasure to deal with and very helpful.

As for the excursion itself, our guide, Mimmo did a wonderful job of giving us a lengthy, but scenic drive along the breathtaking Amalfi Coast with a couple of stops to take photos and a lunch hour (approx. 90 minutes) stop in the town of Amalfi itself. The tour ended with a drive around Naples and back to our ship. We enjoyed Mimmo's charming personality and his knowledge and expertise when he responded to our many questions.

We will definitely book with ItalyTours.EU again in the future when we return!

I noticed there are no prices on their site.Do you have to send them a request to get a quote?

  12. I Was just looking at a site to book a private transfer with a company. When I got to the payment part, it wouldn't let me make the payment with my CC. I tried twice. Then my phone rang and it was my CC company asking if I was trying to buy something in Japan. Turns out that this (I think) is the same company. When I googled Veltra.com it said that it used to be City Discovery and Veltra took it over. They are from Japan. I did not go ahead with my purchase. The lady from the CC company said she could not see any connection to the company I was trying to book with. It was called TouristActive.

  13. We don't plan on buying anything real expensive. Souvenir t-shirts for our kids, and a few souvenirs for us.

So I think we will be bypassing that long line as well.

My main concern is getting to the airport and on my plane  on time so I can get back home without missing my flight! 😀

Thank you so much for all the information. I wonder just how many people know about this VAT tax Recovery.

  14. WallyNDiane,  I was just reading about the VAT tax, because II have never heard of it. This is all new to me as we have never travelled to Europe before. So if we do not want to claim the tax, does this mean that we Don't have to get a stamp of any sort.

  15. Can anyone who has been to Barcelona please give me some insight. We are doing a Mediterranean Cruise. It is return to Barcelona.

We arrive back in Barcelona at 6:00am on a Monday. If I book a flight for the same day for 11:45am, will that give us enough time to get to the airport. We have booked a private car to take us from the port to the airport. Thanks in advance!!
