  1. Sorry that I haven't gotten this review complete yet. I have been so busy and was out of town again this last weekend. So here it goes for day 3.

Day three found us in Cozumel bright and early. It was hard getting our daughter out of bed (as always). She is a night owl like myself. The husband and I headed down to the Windjammer for some breakfast and brought our daughter hers when we were done eating. Yeah this created a monster, and this is what we did the remainder of the cruise. She decided that she would much rather have her breakfast on the balcony than in the Windjammer. Lol! This was our 4th time in Cozumel and like always we spent it shopping. We bought lots of things to bring home for our older kids, made a stop at Caraloha and bought a few items and ordered some bath towels. These are seriously the softest things I have ever felt. I also got my usual bottle of Mexican Vanilla. I can't ever seem to visit Cozumel with out getting some. We also stopped into Starbucks since my daughter thought that no trip would be complete without it. Then we made a stop for our typical lunch at Margaritaville. This was a hopping place as always with lots of music, games and entertainment. It was funny because our daughter was convinced that we were going to let her have a real strawberry daiquiri. Lol! She ended up with a virgin margarita instead. After we got done with lunch, we headed back to the ship. Once we got back to the ship, we dropped of our daughter at AO (per her request) and the hubby and I headed down to the pool. Some cold drinks and a dip in the pool were just what we needed. By the time we picked her up from AO the wind had picked up considerably. The hubby and our daughter decided to take in a round of mini golf while I found some shade and a deck chair to relax and watch. Normally I would have joined them, but since my hair was not pulled back and it tangles really easily, I decided to just watch instead. When we got back to our room that evening before dinner, there was a gift certificate for my daughter for $50 towards a full facial or a full body massage. It was for her birthday. I thought this was rather odd given that she is only 11 years old. I spoke with one of the ladies from the spa and was told that she could just use it towards a mani/pedi but was then later told that she couldn't. I was also told that due to her age that she couldn't get the facial either, but with my signed consent that she could get a massage. She was pretty excited about it so we decided that she could get the massage, and the sweet hubby booked me the Spatopia package as well for the next day. That night in the MDR I got the Cilantro crusted cod loin. This was by far one of the best dishe I've ever had on a cruise. I was expecting some fishy taste, but there was none. The curry sauce was so delicious. By this night our table mates (who we had run into multiple times on the ship by now), were just like old friends. Their oldest son had already introduced us to several different drinks and it was so fun to see the different drinks that would show up at our table each night. The assistant waiter already knew our favorites and would get them quite quickly, but we always managed to throw him off now and then with a new one. The dad had a new joke for us every night or "bad jokes" as he would call them. The mom was super friendly and happy, and the youngest son was an easy going fun guy to be around as well. I think my daughter was crushing on him. Lol! After dinner, we spent a little more time walking around and looking at things and mingling and then called it a night.

Oh I'm not sure if I already mentioned this or not, but our room attendant wasn't to bad. He knew us on first name basis by the second day so that was awesome. On most days though he would come in the mornings before we had already left the room, apologize and then just come back later. In the evenings he would usually drop by our cruise compass early instead of leaving it in our room at turn down. We did end up with 3 towel animals instead of the two we got last year. My daughter got a kick out of them. There were two mornings that he never even turned the sofa bed back into a sofa, so not sure why that was, but oh well. He was always very friendly and one evening we had a nice long chat and learned a little about him and his family. I love finding out where everyone is from and always make it a point to read their name tags to see their name (even if I can't pronounce it) and where they are from. I kind of felt bad for the people down the hall from us as their room attendant wasn't friendly at all. I would always greet him when we passed in the hall and usually didn't get so much as mumble that made no sense at all.

And one more note. I have come to the conclusion now that it has been a week since we have gotten home, that I don't remember what all I ate on which nights. I tried to take pics of everything, but sometimes I forgot until it was to late. Going back and looking at the menus, here is what I know I had (in no particular order), just can't always recall what days.

*Mojo marinated grilled pork chop - as I mentioned earlier, the flavor was great but it was a little on the dry side.

*Royal Shrimp Cocktail - not much to say about this, just your typical shrimp cocktail.

*Simple and Classic Caesar Salad - it was pretty good but in my opinion it had to much dressing on it.

*BBB Creme Brûlée - As always, this is my all time favorite dessert and I would have gladly had this every night. Small confession there were two nights that I had two of them. Lol!

*Blueberry peach crumble - I didn't get this but snuck a few bites of my daughters and it was very delicious!

*Sugar Free Strawberry Charlotte - this wasn't to bad, but it wasn't very flavorful.

*Bittersweet Chocolate Souffle - This was really good. It was light, not to rich and the espresso sauce was really good and tied it all together perfectly.

*Bay Scallop Gratin - This was amazing. So full of flavor. The only complaint (if you can call it that) is that I wish they would have served it with 2 bread sticks instead of one. I didn't have enough bread to soak up all the buttery goodness. Lol!

*Carved Filet of Beef Tenderloin - This was so delicious. Perfectly cooked, tender and full of flavor.

*Conchiglioni Pasta - This wasn't to bad but it seemed a little on the dry side. It would have been much better if it had more sauce.

*Garlic Tiger Shrimp - I loved this dish

*Caprese Salad - not to bad

*Dessert Sampler- I only ordered this one ONLY for the Flourless Chocolate Cake, and since I raved about this so much from day one, our waiter brought a plate full of nothing but that and not the others that are on the sampler. I was in heaven!

*Royal Seafood Salad - This was quite delicious.

    * Fisherman's Plate - Nothing better than some lobster tail (My daughter ate 5 tails).

*French Onion Soup - this was really pretty good, but the bread that was in it was a little tough and hard to cut through, especially with all the cheese on it.

*Rigatoni Pasta - I thought this was a fairly good dish but it lacked some flavor. It might have been more that it just didn't hit the spot for what I was in the mood for that night, but not to sure. This is the only meal that I got that I didn't finish.

Well that's it for day 3

  2. There is one thing that I forgot to mention about our first day. We got to the MDR a little late and totally missed out on the bread and the drink waiter forgot my iced tea, but I didn't hold it against them as they more than made up for it the rest of the cruise. This was really the only problem we had while dining in the MDR. Our main waiter was named Leonardo (forgot his last name) from Nicaragua and the assistant waiter's name was I PUTU from the Philippines. He looked like he was about 16 and was quite charming. We had to ask his age because we were both trying to guess it. He is 19 and will be having a Birthday soon.

  3. Day 2

I started out my morning at about 6:30 I hate the fact that even when I'm on vacation my internal clock will never allow me to sleep in late :-( So while the husband and daughter slept, I enjoyed some time on the balcony taking in the view and the morning sun. We had breakfast in the Windjammer (this is where we had breakfast every morning). After breakfast we took our daughter to AO and then did a little shopping on the Promenade and bought us some hats since both of us left ours in the car back in Galveston. At 10:30 we went down to get registered for the art auction. Ever since our first cruise this is something that we love to do and have added some pretty awesome pieces of art to our walls at home. We enjoyed this one as well and added another piece of art. While there we also won a mini facial at the spa too. The only thing that we regret is that since we went to the art auction, we missed the Port & Shopping Talk. If you have never cruised before, this is something that you really don't want to miss. They provide you with lots of info and shopping tips as well as give out coupons and lots of prizes. We were sad that we missed it but since we can't be in two places at once...Lol! We tried a few times to catch some of the Dream Works characters so my daughter could get her pic taken with them, but we were always to busy and never made it there in time. We did lunch that day in Sorentos and found the pizza to be pretty good. This became my daughter's favorite place for lunch. The coconut macaroons they have were really good so that was my go to snack when I was craving something sweet. After we had lunch we headed to the main pool to soak up some sun. While we were there they had the World's Sexiest Man Competition so we decided to stick around and watch it. I have to say this was pretty hilarious to watch. We had some pretty good laughs. Glad we decided to stick around. About thirty minutes later and a fairly good sunburn, we dropped of our daughter at AO and did some more walking around the ship while having some drinks. We really didn't participate much in the on board activities just because we were pretty much on island time and seemed to never get to anywhere when things started but then again, we were on vacation and didn't want to have to stick to time frames. Lol! We also visited the Next Cruise staff again. I forgot to mention that on day one we booked our next cruise with a man named Brian Alvarez (from Mexico). He was very friendly and helpful and made booking our next cruise a snap. We went back on day two and booked our son and his girlfriend for the cruise as well. We added three more cabins for friends and family while on the ship as well. We are hoping to add even more to our group by the time we sail again in April. The more the merrier right? So back to the MDR for dinner. It was our first formal night and also the night that they brought our daughter her Birthday cheese cake and sang for her. For my appetizer I had the Bay Scallop Gratin. OMG this was so delicious! The only thing that I regret is that I didn't get more, that's how good it was. My main dish was the Carved Fillet of Beef Tenderloin (I had it last year too). This was also another great dish. It was perfectly cooked, very tender and full of flavor. For dessert I got the Bittersweet Chocolate Souffle with light chocolate espresso sauce. I was very pleased with this. Not to sweet, not to rich. Just right and add the sauce with it...YUMMY! We had another great night at dinner with our table mates and get to know them a little better. After dinner was done, our daughter wanted to go back to AO, so while she was there when walked around the promenade again. I wish that we would have taken in some of the shows and sadly never even went to any of them this year. We were just content with walking around and meeting some new faces. After we picked up our daughter from AO we stopped off at Johnny Rockets for some malts and shakes. I love that place! After that, we made our way back to our cabin and enjoyed the rest of the evening on the balcony. This wasn't exactly an eventful day, but we still enjoyed ourselves and in my opinion that's all that matters.

  4. Great start of your review. We were in cabin 9294........just across from you on the other side of the ship. It gave us a nice walk to the stern elevators, where the food is located. As much as I tried to watch what I ate, I gained 2 pounds in the 2 weeks that we were aboard.

I look forward to reading about your week on the Liberty. Ours was one of the best that we have ever taken with Royal Caribbean. Even with what has been taken away over the years, we have learned to have no expectations, even being Pinnacle Club members.

    Looking forward to your review.

    Rick

Cabin 9294 is actually the cabin that we have booked for April. We wanted the GS but it wasn't available :-( I will keep calling though to see if one opens up.

  5. Hi all! The hubby, 11 yr old daughter and I just got off the Liberty yesterday morning (Sunday June 5th). We've cruised multiple times and I always tell myself that I'm going to write a review or do a blog and just never get around to it. Last year we cruised on the Navigator and had a WONDERFUL time and really thought that was as good as it would get. Well I was wrong, so this time I told myself that I WILL NOT forget to do a review. So with out further ado I shall begin.

Since my husband had knee surgery a week and a few days before we left (and we always drive to Galveston), we decided to leave a few days early so that he would have lots of chances to stretch his leg and rest. We are from Kansas so flooding was a bit of a concern for us as we traveled down, but we were lucky enough to not have to deal with any of it. We stayed in two different hotels prior to leaving port but I'm not going to bore you with those details. Both the internet package and the beverage packages were purchased online prior to sailing.

    Day 1 Embarkation day :-)

We got to the cruise terminal at about 10:30, got our car parked and all luggage but our carry ons checked with the porter, and we were on the ship in about 5 minutes flat. There was no line to wait in and check in was a breeze. We are C&A Platinum members (Emerald now at the end of this cruise) and booked in a suite so we were able to go through the priority check in lane. Of course things were a little chaotic when we first got on the ship but that is typical. This was our daughter's 2nd cruise (first one was the Navigator last year), so she was more than a little eager to check out the ship. One of the spots she was most excited about was the Cupcake Cupboard because of the decorating class (more on that later). For lunch we ate in the Windjammer which (as we expected) was packed. We all were happy with our lunch and the wait staff was attentive as always. We really didn't have anything to complain about there. After we were done with lunch, we spent the rest of the time (prior to cabins being available) just exploring the ship. We loved the layout of the ship. Everything seemed very easy to find and never found myself wonder where I was at or where I was going. Our daughter was excited about the kids Splash Away Bay, which ironically she spent ZERO time at because she prefers the Adventure Ocean over the pool. Our cabin (Jr Suite #9594) was available promptly at 1:00 as they said it would be. At this time we went to our room, checked everything out and found it to be very clean and quite spacious, and took lots of pictures. We booked the Jr. Suite and surprisingly this was our first time with a balcony. I will NEVER go back to a room with out one. Lol! The only issue that we had was that one of the drawers was broken but that was quickly fixed. I happen to be a very organized want everything in it's proper place kind of person so after we ooohhed and awed over our room, I unpacked everything and quickly got it all organized. I hate a cluttered room. We were in and out of our room several times before pulling out of port, but it was really nice to know that we could watch the ship depart from the comfort of our balcony instead of having to try to find a place on the crowded decks. After the ship left we did more exploring, enrolled our daughter in Adventure Ocean, and checked out our table in the MDR. Last year we were less than happy with our arrangements as we were sat in a corner by one of the crew entrance into the galley which was noisy and left us sometimes feeling a little isolated. This time around we were very pleased with our location. Though we didn't have a table right by the window, we were just one table away and could still have a pretty good view if we wanted. We were also seated with others at our table. This is only the second time we have been seated this way so we were excited to meet our table mates. Turns out that we were sitting with a family of four. The first night they didn't talk to much but from that night on, it was as if we had known each other forever. We had the late dining so it was nice to not feel rushed. For dinner I had the shrimp cocktail, the Mojo Pork chops which were really delicious but a tad bit dry, and I forgot what I had for dessert . I forgot to get a pic of it. After we had dinner, we did a little more exploring, looked at some of the pieces in the art gallery, had a few drinks and then turned in a little earlier than normal since we were pretty well exhausted. That was it for day one. I have added a few pics that I took from our first day. I hope you enjoy them. I will post on day 2 later on this evening if I get the chance.

  6. Yes opened yesterday. My DD and her husband were the second passengers down. The women all screamed a lot....I was too chicken to try it. They didn't really announce it so lines were short . We just happened to be by the flow rider when it opened. Glad our group could experience it.

Maybe I should add the details... It is a double tube ride. Two people are required. No one under 100 lbs or over 250. Total weight 400 pounds. They have a scale there to check anyone in question.

We just got off LOS yesterday. My husband said he would be upset if they opened it the day we got off the ship. Go figure! Lol!

  7. I am considering NOT bringing "formal clothing" for my family. How out of place would we look in MDR- ladies would still wear a nice dress, just not a cocktail dress and guys would wear button up with tie, no jackets. Yes, I am 100% aware that we could 1) go to the Windjammer 2) people dress in a wide variety but we enjoy the MDR experience with our kids.

    Thanks and enjoy your cruise!

I've found that things aren't near as formal as they used to be. Last cruise I wore a semi formal on both nights. I just don't want to spend a fortune on something I'm going to wear once.

  8. We are sailing on the 5-29 sailing of LOS this next Sunday. We have been C&A members for years now, but just added our 11 year old daughter to it this morning. The agent that was helping me stated that there is a youth value booklet that will be loaded onto our daughters Sea Pass card, but she didn't know what things would be on it. Can anyone tell me what exactly will be on her card so that she will know ahead of time. We are so eager to hit the seas again. This will be our daughter's second cruise. She fell in love with the NOS last year and is so excited that LOS is a bigger ship. She is a planner like I am so she is already getting her game plan in motion. Lol! She was addicted to Adventure Ocean last time which really made me happy. She tends to be kind of shy at times and has never been one to just jump into a group or something when she doesn't know anyone. I really figured that she would want to live in the pool, but she surprised us. She only swam twice last time and spent most of her waking moments in AO.

  9. 5 lbs and 17 inches? You must be tiny????

I lost 50 in the past 6 months and only dropped 1 pant size!!! 36 to 34 lol.

Not as tiny as I used to be. Before losing I was at my all time heaviest. Since I'm 5 ' short that doesn't help matters either. Having kids pretty much changed my metabolism :-(

I was HORRIBLE today with my eating so I know tomorrow I will regret it but oh well, whats done is done.

  10. 1. Fill out special request form to ask for lactose free diet

    2. Yes you can bring protein shakes no restrictions if it's powdered

    3. Same on snacks

    4. MDR more difficult but again you can ask your waiter about carbs in meal... Sauces will be your big issue so watch that and of course all the bread, rice etc..typical carbs

    5. Tons of stuff, a lot of meat, veggie choices it's buffet style so a lot of options

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

Do you bring your snacks and protein powder on your carry on or checked luggage. Thanks!

  11. Hi all, I'm leaving on the LOS May 29th sailing and just need to pick some brains. Iv'e asked some of these questions in some other threads and I think they must be getting looked over because I have yet to get a reply on any of them.

I have recently made the change over to low carb/hight fat and protein lifestyle. I have since lost 5 lbs and almost 17". I lost some weight prior to our last cruise and sabotaged my diet and gained it all back and then some. I DO NOT want to do that this time around as I am loving how I feel so much better than I did before. So here are a few of my questions. I'm hoping to find answers to all of them. Thanks!

    1) Is there anywhere on the ship that I can get almond/coconut/soy milk? If so, is there an additional cost for that? I've seen the little juice box type ones at the grocery store but not sure if that's something they will allow me to carry on or to bring on in my checked luggage.

    2) Have any of you brought your powdered protein shake mix on board? How did you bring it, carry on or in your checked luggage? Did you bring it in the original container or in something else? What was that something else that you brought it in? I thought about bringing it, but I don't want to risk them taking it from me especially since it's so expensive.

    3) Have you ever brought any of your low carb snacks with you? I know there is a lot to eat on the ship, so I don't want to hear about that part because I already know. just kind of looking for something when I get the munchies and don't want to hit the Windjammer or in the evening when we are already settled in for the night.

    4) What are your go to meals in the MDR that are low carb? I'm not a picky eater at all so I don't have that to worry about. Lol!

    5) What items have you found in the Windjammer that you like that are also low carb?

    6) We are looking at possibly dining in one of the specialty restaurants while we are on board. Which in your opinion would fit the low carb diner the best?

    7) Does Sorento's offer salads? And is there a fee to eat there? Man I make it sound like we have never cruised before. Lol! I've just never eaten at any of the other places but the MDR and WJ.

    8) Does it cost to get something at the Cupcake Cupboard (asking for my daughter, Lol)

    9) Squeeze juice bar, I've heard serves protein shakes. True? Can they be purchased on the beverage pkg?

Sorry for all the questions :-)

  12. The hubby, daughter and I are on the May 29th sailing and I have been on a low carb diet trying to lose some of this pre-cruise weight. I did this last year as well and was down 18lbs when we walked on the ship and totally sabatoged (sp) it by eating horribly and it all went down hill from there and I gained it all back and then some. I don't want to do that this time around and would really like to remain low carb during the cruise. Their food has always been awesome no matter what I get. Just wondering if any of the other low carb, high protein peeps out there can suggest some meals off the MDR menu that work for me. Thanks!!!
