  1. I think the S in S. Bergen stands for “salty” 🙄

I’ve organized (I’m not a TA but my family treats me like I am 😜) large groups of 16-20 family members on a few mostly NCL cruises. I’ve NEVER encountered these issues that old salty here has—even our dinner reservations have worked out well.  We always sets up our dinner reservation months  in advance.  We always eat dinner together and I always meet with the Maitre d’ well before the first nights dinner to make sure they have us sitting together (usually at 2 large tables next to each other.)

Old Salty is trying to sound like a seasoned cruiser with a very good travel agent daughter but after reading this review that is really difficult to believe. I wish they had listed what other cruise lines/ships they’ve been on. I agree with others who say it reads like a letter to NCL hoping to get reimbursed some of their money. Buyers remorse maybe???

  2. All of the Seashore oceanview cabins are on deck 5.  Has noise been a problem in these cabins?  I'm concerned being under the theater, Times Square, near the atrium, and I'm unsure about what I would be over on deck 4.  Please let me know your experience with this deck, and if you remember, what cabin you were in. TIA.

We had a relaxed day today, its a sea day after all!

Morning - room service breakfast, lazing on the super balcony enjoying the temps in the 70s

Afternoon - black glass wine tasting with macarons (cassis & mango); Latitudes Wine Around the World, couple hours in the spa.

Evening - dinner at Hudsons (MDR) with a window seat in the middle providing a good view of V!va’s wake; chat with a couple YouTubers we often watch; Press Your Luck game show -pre-show energizer:

Was there any charge to participate in Press Your Luck?  I've seen on the dailies where you can sign up, but no mention of cost (if any).  Did you watch it?  I've watched it on TV and just curious as to how they work it.  Enjoying the review--thanks for doing it.

    Two more questions-

This is a surprise trip for my kids.  Based on the odd bathroom layout, I booked mom & daughter together and dad & boys together.  If the kids all decide they want to stay in one room, should I call and switch that (will they even allow me to do that) or can they just stay in one room without notifying anyone?  They would take the balcony room that sleeps 3.

We did the GTY rooms as that was all that was left.  We have one interior and one balcony.  Just got our room numbers and we are on opposite ends of the ship, 3 floors apart.  Anyone ever have luck getting them to change their rooms with a GTY room?  Not really a big deal and I was well aware when I booked that we probably would not be near each other, but it would be nice to be a little closer.

I've done it on other cruise lines--never hurts to ask.  Call your consultant.

It is unlikely any cabin location would be affected by smoke on Freedom class, even from the outside deck 5 area smoking section. You are probably more likely to get smoke from someone illegally smoking on their balcony.

My last cruise we were 4 decks up from a smoking area and it did affect the enjoyment of my balcony. I’m hoping to pick a better location for us this time. Do you know what side smoking is allowed on deck 5?

I didn't get a chance to check last night and now the casino is closed until after we leave Miami at midnight tonight, but my best guess is that your points will be reset after each leg. The way that casino points work is that the number of points you need to get a "free" cruise is based on the length of th current sailing. So you need fewer points on a 3 day than you need on a 7 day. It wouldn't really be fair to let you accumulate points on a 7 day and then spend them on the following 3 day to get a "free" cruise at the cheaper "price."

After posting this question, I came across another post that made it sound like different length sailings had different point requirements--which makes sense.  I appreciate you replying back.  Enjoy the rest of your cruise.

  7. I was on the Seascape recently, and as you said the buffet is extremely busy, but I did not wait an hour for anything.  I will say the line to get made to order omelets was long, and I chose not to stand and wait for that--maybe that is where the hour long queues were???  You can also eat breakfast at the Green Wave MDR.  The attitude you go in with is everything--enjoy your cruise 🙂

  8. I am considering a similar 10 day cruise, which is also listed as a 3 day and 7 day--basically a b2b.  Does anyone know when you book it as a 10 day cruise, do your casino points accumulate for the whole 10 days, or do they split into accumulating as 3 and 7 day cruises?

Is the casino on Divna smoke free or not?  Asking for a friend 🙂

I know it wasn't when I was on it a couple of years ago but I hope someone who has been on it recently can chime in with the current regulations.

on meraviglia they took out the seldom used library/games room to add a smoke free casino annex

I did read that they had done that.  I wish they had done what they did on the Seascape, but at least it is an option for nonsmokers to have somewhere to gamble smoke-free.

  11. We recently sailed on the Seascape.  They had just completed renovations in the Sports Bar where they enclosed a room next to the sports bar with slot machines in it where smoking is allowed--smoking is no longer allowed in the main casino.  Does anyone know if they are planning these same renovations on other ships (specifically the ones departing from the USA)?

Thanks, Deb  .. phoning  America and explaining the problem would be a costly phone call ...and a letter would take some time . Perhaps I'll hand it over to ABTA ..Association of British Travel Agencies for help . NCL are members.

Did a little googling and came across this list that was update June 2023. I’d email them all.

That must be the reason ... it's regarding a refund that Southampton are reluctant to authorise . I'm now going to try dealing with Miami ...thanks

I don’t see any email addresses for an appropriate department. Here is the mailing address and phone numbers for reservations and corporate. Best I can do.
