If she is anything like her sister EDGE you will be blown away.

Sorry, I misled you. We should have been on Apex April this year - the maiden voyage, but obviously it was cancelled. Gutted!  And no Edge class ships sailing from Southampton next year.

Oh well, I'm sure Edge or Apex will sail from UK soon enough.

We have a very long Princess cruise booked for September. Really looking forward to that. 🥳

Thanks for that. Have to say we have done Silhouette, Constellation and EDGE on Celebrity. We loved Silly and EDGE was just another world. We really did not warm to the Constellation at all though and would not sail on this class of ship again. Our dream cruise for 2022 would be EDGE again but it cost us a fortune....

I know, it is flipping expensive, but you can get good deals. Not that I’ve noticed any recently. The Celebrity prices have gone through the roof!

Interesting To hear your thoughts on the Millennium class ships. We’ve only sailed on Silly and Eclipse so far. We’re due on Apex in April but of course was cancelled. 😭

    Hi,

We are having a look at cruises for 2022 at the moment and stumbled on the fact that a cruise on Regal Princess was a really good price for the Med Aug 2021. Their prices are not out yet but if similar in 2022 it is tempting. We love Britannia and understand that there are extra costs like tips and drinks. We've done Celebrity a number of times and have been told that Princess is an up market P&O and better than Celebrity. Just wonder what your thoughts are. Thanks everyone.

(Great to talk cruising again 🙂 )

    👋🏻 Hello,

we have sailed on all 3 lines and my thoughts are that P&O and Princess are very similar and Celebrity is far superior to both.

Food in particular is on another level on Celebrity.

We have so far only done a very short Princess cruise though so my judgement may not be entirely fair.

Hope that is if some help. 😊

  4. Our balance was due today.

We decided that it is very unlikely to go ahead and even if it does the uncertainty around ports added to mask-wearing etc does not make for a relaxing holiday.

We have moved our booking to Aurora’s Christmas cruise next year.

Thank you all for your input. 😊

There seems to be a theme of the delays / announcements coming out on Tuesdays at 10am.

Personally, I wouldn't miss the P&O due date at all, and if the TA was offering to receive payment closer to the mark I would be emailing them to confirm.

However, once the nearest Tuesday at 10am has past to your balance due date, you will have to decide unfortunately whether or not to:

-- Pay and accept the long wait for a full refund, or a 125% FCC if preferred.

-- Move the deposit to another cruise, preferably a shorter one in low season, so you do not have to pay them any more real money.

    -- Accept loss of deposit.

Reading the other threads, including from the "mole" - who is usually close to the mark, Aurora is not necessarily top of mind when it comes to any phased restart.  Her passenger numbers are small and it is more challenging to make this commercially viable.

December is a long time away though, so hopefully things will brighten up 😃

    Great info.

It seems we are all very compliant. 😬

    Lizzie Hi

You are in a situation whereby your cruise is not going to happen, so your choice is to move your cruise deposit to a later time, or pay up and wait your refund.or gauge when the final date is the final date. such as, oop's we were away at the time etc.

I would seek agreement with my T/A if I were to try this!

We will be in a similar situation in January, having paid a substantial deposit for a 35 day back to back cruise, leaving on the 1st May. the difference is that we do not want to go.

    Keep safe!

    Hello!
Hope you are both well. I hope you’re wrong, but I suspect you’re right. 😕

If we do keep the booking I’m sure we will pay in plenty of time. I was really only wondering if others routinely waited a while to pay the final balance.

cant you move your cruise to a later date, Ivor? X

We were on this cruise but moved it to next year as soon as we had the chance.

I want to see more evidence of good practice before we cruise again.

I hope you get to go, but I really can't see it.

Careful you don't lose your deposit by missing payment date. You could move your deposit to a different cruise without losing it.

I don't think that the cruise will run on Dec 9th but no-one knows for sure.

I fear you are both right but we’re happy to go if it does.

As they have already cancelled up till November 13th (is it?) I can’t see ours sailing only 3 weeks later but we can hope. 🤞🏼

There is no reason to pay before the P&O due date.  My TA was fine about that.  You could also ask P&O yourself if there was a later date you could pay.

We weren’t going to pay before the due date. But we do normally pay on the due date (I think it’s something like 6th Sept). Our TA has already said we have “about a week” grace, I was just wondering if there are any rebels who never pay on time? 😬

We are just conscious that it will be Sod’s law that we pay and it gets cancelled the next day then we have another prolonged wait for the refund. 🙄

  9. Hello fellow cruisers,

We are due to board Aurora on 9th December and the final payment is due at the beginning of September. We are definitely going to pay as we very much hope the ship will sail (though nor will we be surprised if it’s cancelled).
We normally pay our balance as soon as it’s due, but having had a painfully long wait for the refunds for our cancelled April cruises we aren’t specially inclined to be so quick to make the final payment on this occasion.
We wondered how prompt others are making the payment?
Our TA told us we would be ok to make it about a week later....I suspect we could stretch it to 2 weeks...what are your thoughts?
    Thanks for any info. 😊

  10. We were due to take our first Azamara cruise on June 5th. I don't want to rub salt in any wounds either, but like Combine, wanted to show there is movement. The refund was requested on 17th April and we have received a full refund today. I really hope everyone gets their money soon. 🙂

We cancelled over the phone this past Saturday morning and are expecting a refund. I asked for a cancellation number or

an acknowledgement of request and received neither. I guess we're just going to have to trust the system for the time being.

At lease I documented the date, time, and the name of the representative I spoke with on the call......

At least there is some comfort in knowing it’s not just us! 😂

I would love to understand what form that needs to be filled out.  We booked through Costco and got our cancellation email but are due 25% for cancelling in the window.  Can anyone help me out here.  Obviously I can't get through to Celebrity or Costco to get my questions answered. Thanks

We got an email from Celebrity. Just after midnight on Saturday night.

We also booked with a TA. We’ve emailed them to ask the question too as you can’t get through by phone atm. They have not yet responded.

the Celebrity email directed you to click a link for a refund. That’s what we did.....

  13. Our Apex Cruise was cancelled on Saturday and we chose to request a full refund. We have not had any notification of our request or email to confirm receipt of the request.
Does anyone know how long the refund is likely to take to be applied to our credit card?

I am still cruising leaving out of San Juan this Saturday 03/14.  My wife and I are 30, and 33 in excellent health. I am hoping that with all the cancellations, we will be able to get some upgrade deals.

We were hoping for this too. We are currently in an aft Sky Suite on Apex on 1st and 5th April our of Southampton.  We had bid up on a number of categories of suite - but having just had X's cancellation policy confirmed by our TA (no refund - payment just transferred to future cruise credit) we've just taken all our bids off. We don't want thousands of pounds tied up on a cruise we may not even wish to take! Celebrity have potentially cost themselves extra money with this policy.

Not at all. I’m one of the “regular” passengers.  I see many things I would love to have but can’t afford so I buy what’s within my budget.

If I’m out of place being myself then this will be not only our first, but also our last cruise with Celebrity. My husband and I don’t feel the need to try to impress others.  I was initially concerned about giving Celebrity a try after reading some of the comments from people on this board. However it was cheaper than other cruises we were looking at so we decided to go for it.  I was greatly relieved after chatting with people that will be on our cruise. It seems that vast majority are down to earth and friendly. Obviously all aren’t. If Celebrity doesn’t want people wearing ripped jeans on their ships, they can state that in their dress code. Or maybe they need to check with the snootiest of their passengers to get their approval first.

You will be just fine, as SherriffJoe says, everyone on board is super nice. I have only felt a sneery attitude when we tried Cunard. I'm sure you will look very stylish. Celebrity changed their dress code to be more inclusive and so that their passengers, who are on holiday after all, can feel comfortable. If anyone is uncomfortable with whatever SOMEONE ELSE is wearing, then I suggest they need to have a word with themselves! You'll have a great time. 😃

  16. Hi Lisa,

Thinking of Venice in particular and the strong anti-cruise ship feeling which seems to be held by locals, I wonder if it might be an idea for Celebrity to volunteer to stop cruising in to Venice before the ban which is coming - great PR points?

I say this as someone who would love to sail in or out of Venice at some point, but I do also cringe when I see the photos of the ships dwarfing the Venice skyline.

From what I understand the alternative dock is only 3 miles away, so access to the city would still be very easy.

Just a thought, as we say in the UK, Brownie points for Celebrity for being pro-active and environmentally friendly.....

That's a good idea, but as others observed probably not practical from the US.  I must depend on comments here and official reviews - some of which are not all that flattering but when you average them out they are not so bad.  So far as the decor, we have experienced all sorts of decor in our world travels, and I take extended motorcycle trips where my decor is a small tent and a sleeping bag. I don't lose sleep over decor, as long as it's clean and we -maintained.

What I will be looking for on a world cruise is a clean cabin, a good room steward,  a clean and well maintained ship, good food (doesn't have to be exceptional) a promenade that goes all the way around the ship, some shady areas outside to read and watch the sea glide by, a wee dram or two at reasonable prices in the evening, and a nice group of fellow travelers.

I don't need over-amplified production shows or over-amplified pool-side bands, a casino, a belly flop contest, a men's sexy legs competition, drinking contests, and feral children running loose.  I can usually manage to avoid all but feral children and I figure a world cruise will filter them out.

So, does it look like a world cruise on the Arcadia will fill the bill?

I think it will be just fine from what you specify as important to you.

The Buffet and food choices are the big downside to me on P&O, nowhere near the choice available on Celebrity or Royal Caribbean.

Totally agree with this, Celebrity and RCCI food (especially the buffet, is much better) - I LOVE my food and the thought of a very long cruise on P&O with the distinctly average (to be kind) buffet offering would make me think twice.

However, the Glass House is a good, Sindhu is ok, The Beach House is ok and the MDR is ok and as food is not up there on the OP's list of "must haves" then I think it sounds as though the trip will be just the ticket.

    Have a great time. 😊

We will see you on the 4/5 cruise! There is a roll call started, if you are interested. Hopefully, it will get more active soon!

I've just had a look. Everyone is talking about a naming ceremony - I assume this will now happen prior to the 4 day cruise...? Or sooner if they add another one if she is even more ahead of schedule?
