  1. halfacts has photos of a cabin 1841 that looks less desirable than the typical layout. Closets are at the foot of the bed and the cabin looks to be more crowded than usual, so not all sideways cabins are created equal. I've scoured the internet and can't find any photos for 1877. Usually the deck plans seem to be pretty accurate when looking for a larger cabin. We're still looking for a solution after loosing our original cabin #2619.
  2. I would like to get information about cabin J#1877 located midship on the dolphin deck on Zaandam. On the deck plans it looks like a larger cabin but I was told it's only 183 sq. ft. Has anyone stayed in this cabin? Do you have photos? Would you book it again? Any pros and cons?
  3. I just noticed another component to this whole ordeal. The price for a J cabin has come down $500 pp since we booked. Since they moved us to an H we wouldn't be able to reduce our fare. Kinda sneaky isn't it?
  4. HAL isn't offering us anything but a different J cabin. We've asked for a specific ocean view cabin that is similar in size but have to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday when management is back in the office to approve it. We'll see. It doesn't sound promising.
  5. Holland America can make changes to your booking without your consent. A customer shouldn't have to take action to prevent a booking modification.
  6. She did call HAL. I called HAL. I believe that you shouldn't have to do anything to protect what you have booked.
  7. I discovered today that my TA hadn't booked my cabin with the no upgrade option for our October 2023 Grand South America cruise.. We had cabin J 2619 booked. It's a large inside cabin with 210 square feet, midship near the stairs and one floor down from the promenade deck. We were given an "upgrade" to an H cabin. No specific cabin. These seem to be on the promenade deck where passengers walk past your window and are obstructed views. They are also only 184 square feet. I don't see how this would be an upgrade. We were not asked to make a change. I noticed when I looked on my Mariner account at my bookings to my surprise to see that my booked cabin had gone missing and only the H remained. I called and asked HAL to get my original cabin back and was told it's not possible. It's already been booked. I can be on a waitlist for my original cabin. I'm surprised that it's becoming so difficult to spend $25,000 on a cruise and get what you've paid for.
  8. We booked Oct. 10 - Nov. 14 on the Oosterdam. We had to have the agent ask ship inventory to release a cabin so we could keep the same cabin the entire voyage.
  9. We recently cruised on the Nieuw Statendam in November and had the Have it All package. Water bottles that have a screw on lid are not included in the package. The only option if you want to take a water bottle ashore and you haven't brought your own container is the $4.50 + tip metal screw top lid. I know HAL doesn't want plastic on the ship but the price seems excessive. I'm pretty sure that when we cruised Alaska last year when ships started sailing again that the metal water bottles were included in the drink package. I know it not a big thing but I find it annoying and disappointing.
  10. I look forward to hearing about the ports and recommendations that you might have. Mary
  11. We have Shacke Pak organizers and we've used them for years.
