Does anyone have any photos of (or have stayed in) the Ocean View Balcony cabin 12250 or 12650 on Quantum class ships? I've currently got 12250 held for a cruise on Ovation because, on the deck plans, it looks like the balcony is slightly larger than regular balconies. However I know deck plans are not always accurate. Or does anyone have a photo of these cabins on decks 13, 11, 10, 9, 8 or 7? e.g. 11250 or 11650.

Any info about these cabins  will be much appreciated.  Thanks 🙂

Hi! Did you stay in 12250 or 12650? I have 12250 booked and looking for more info.

Ok I'm sure I've had more than 6 central park balconys and I do sit out if the sun is hitting the balconies on the opposite side. I've had deck 10 and 12 for sure. My biggest complaint was I was below the round pool on harmony deck 12 and the kids screeching all day long got on my nerves a bit. I would try next time not to be below kids pools. They screech all day, cant swim without screeching. That was on harmony. Oasis kids yelling at the pools also got annoying.

I would choose a lower deck if open. That deck 12 double wide was all that was left b2b last time if I wanted the double long balcony. I also was next to the extra small inside next door last time. I've also been next to the stewards cabin and preferred that lower deck.

Nothing huge but be aware the kids are swimming right above you. I've done that cabin more than once on 3 oasis class ships. Look at the deck plans and you will see which side of the ship that round wave pool is.

Thanks for the great information! Looks like we would be right below the kids pool area… might send me looking for an ocean view room!

How is a clean view going to be cooler? I have sailed in both and admit I dont without when the balcony is in the sun, no matter if its ocean view or central park. I've had a skin cancer issue so i cant sit in the sun.

If the sun is shinijg and your balcony is where the sun hits, it's going to be hot..I dont u understand how one will be hotter than the other if the sun is shining on it.

I did a ov facing balcony on oasis and never used it during the day. Too hot all week. Why spend extra if you want to avoid a hot balcony?

The video I watched said it was too hot even when the sun went down. I was surprised by that, and it’s making me have second thoughts. I was hoping to hear from others who have been in CP balconies as to whether or not they had a different experience.

  4. We have 12629 booked for a July cruise on Harmony. It’s one with a double balcony and it’s next to an inside room, so it’s not next to the noisy ice room/staff room like on some floors. After watching a video of the room many times, I’m starting to worry about my choice. We’ve never stayed in a CP room. The video I saw said that the balcony was too hot to use. Considering we will be sailing in July, I’m starting to think I should switch to an ocean view balcony. Thoughts from those who have sailed in a CP balcony?

Yes, but certain add-ins (like protein powder I guess, I don't know much about that stuff) may cost extra. I do know I took my niece to get a basic smoothie there before and she used a voucher.

Thanks! We will definitely use some vouchers there this summer.

Unlikely a new ship would bump the two original ones.

That’s what I thought too. But I saw at least two emails that Symphony cruisers received saying they were going to be there on the 2nd. And the app shows all 3 at Coco Cay on the 2nd, which I know is impossible.

  7. I saw this topic in another group about a week ago, and I haven’t found an answer since. Changing itineraries due to cancellation of Labadee has 3 ships scheduled to be at Coco Cay on April 2. Oasis and Freedom were originally scheduled to be there that day. Then Symphony passengers got emails saying they were also going to be there on April 2. I kept waiting to see an update, to find out what the solution was for this mess, because I know only 2 ships can dock at Coco Cay. So far, the app has all 3 ships there on April 2. All the port schedules I can find only show Oasis and Freedom. Just wondering if anyone knows for sure which ships will be there on the 2nd?

Plenty of Ubers available. Easiest place to get a taxi is probably outside Central Station. Not sure if there will be any around the People’s Palace. From experience you will get more chat/ local knowledge from a taxi driver than an Uber driver.  I’m hoping your great-grannie lived in one of the tenement buildings, that Glasgow is famous for. If so, the National Trust has a property called The Tenement House at Charing Cross, where you can experience what it was like to live in one.

Thank you for the info! I’m not sure if she lived in a tenement house. She lived at 8 Bothwell St in Cambuslang, in what I think is called a terraced house? I tried to attach a pic from Google maps street level view but it didn’t seem to work.

If you are getting the train to Cambuslang from Glasgow Central it will be the Lanark train. It’s around 10/15 mins to Cambuslang. Trains go half hourly. Think there will be a bit of a walk from the station to Bothwell St in Cambuslang. Please manage your expectations. This is my local train route into Glasgow and it is not the most scenic!

I'm pretty sure that we’ll take the shuttle bus from Greenock to Glasgow. Transfer to the hop on hop off bus. Take that tour, with a detour to Cambuslang from the People’s Palace stop. I still think the bus from that area will take us very close to where we need to go. I’m considering a taxi also. I honestly would just like to drive to the house and take a picture, then drive back to join the tour. So perhaps a taxi will be best? Are there a lot of Lyft or Uber cars available, or is a taxi a better option?

Wow, great location. Would have liked to know about "Travellodge" years ago; I always had a hotel way out of this part of the city...either North of Hyde Park or close to Victoria Station....

This hotel is just around the corner of the British Museum and Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus and the whole Theater District is in walking distance...

Thanks! We ended up choosing a different hotel, The Resident Covent Garden location. Hoping we like the location, it seems to be great.

  11. I’m not sure if this is even possible. But we will be stopping in Greenock on our cruise in June. I planned to do a tour of some kind in Glasgow, possibly even the hop on, hop off bus. I’d really love to be able to see the last place that my great-grandmother lived before she emigrated to the US in 1924. She lived in Cambuslang. I was looking at how to get there, and saw a bus (263) that I could take from Green St., near People’s Palace, to Bothwell St., just a minute’s walk to my destination. But the bus website, First Bus, is a bit confusing, and doesn’t show the stops that I saw on Google maps. Can anyone offer insight? Is this doable, or crazy to try? It just seems a shame to be so close, and not see where my family came from.

They won't be expecting a tip. But if the driver has been good, friendly and safe - that is to say, doing more than just doing their job - then I will often tip a few pounds. But it wouldn't be any more than £5.

I would book now for the car service.  I think I gave £5 as a tip.

Thank you both for your quick answers!

I used a car service Just Airports from LHR to my London hotel - Park Plaza Westminster and Premier Inn Waterloo (a block behind Park Plaza Westminster).  Put in your hotel’s postal code to get a quote.

It is nice to be met after baggage area to be met and driven direct to your hotel after a long flight without dragging your luggage all over the place for transportation.

On embarkment day, check out International Friends from certain London hotels to Southampton dock with a stop at Stonehenge.

I’m thinking about using Just Airport service in June. How far out do you advise booking the service?

Also, is this a service that we should tip the driver? In the US we would tip our driver.

As Harters says, you absolutely won't stick out. There are lots of reasons why people choose non-alcoholic drinks in pubs - either long-term, or on the day, or just that hour or round - so it's entirely normal. I often order non-alcoholic drinks for myself, and it's unusual for anyone to even notice that.

Thanks!!! I am definitely getting excited for this trip, and appreciate all the help and insight you’ve both provided!

The headquarters of the UK's Vegetarian Society is in Manchester, which is the centre of our metro area. Vegetarianism and abstinence (from alcohol) have been quite strong movements since the mid 19th century. I'm a meat eater but no longer drink alcohol.

Good to know! My husband and I also eat meat but do not drink alcohol. I was hoping to not stick out too much by not drinking in any pubs we stop in. Good to know it’s not just us!

I will try to remember to come back with an update after we visit Oxburgh! We are planning to be there at the end of June.

I also love history, and both Great Wars interest me. What a great story you have! And how amazing that you can remember and honor the memory of your great-uncle.

We have traced my husband’s heritage quite far back, and his great-great-great grandfather on his paternal side to here in the states in the 1800’s. His name is on a Civil War monument. But we hit a major roadblock trying to move beyond him. It truly is a mystery, but we will keep trying to unravel the past. We’ve even done something called Y DNA looking for answers, since he traces back through all male relatives. No luck there either.

Eating plans are a must in our family! Especially when I realized that our Oxburgh venture will most likely be a 12 hour day. Our college age daughter is a vegetarian, so I always have to triple check options with her in mind. I have been pleasantly surprised that England seems to very vegetarian friendly!

It is very nice to chat with you!
