No reservations for afternoon tea except the paid for Champagne Tea. We don't often go but sometimes it's better to go a bit later after the first rush is over.

    No problem with the wine.

Have a great time and let us know what you think.

Thank you!  I feel like we need experience this at least one time 🙂

  2. We will be taking our first ever Cunard on the QM2 in August.  I've been reading the boards and hopefully have prepared us for what to expect.  Just a couple of loose ends:

    - do we need to make a reservation for high tea?  If not, do line ups start VERY early for high tea?

    - the never ending conversation about bringing wine on board!!! - I just want to clarify that we can bring on one bottle each without packing it away in our suitcase?

We are all set with our formal nights (red/gold night and roaring 20's night).  Really looking forward to this experience!

Your phone will automatically connect to available WiFi networks, especially if you've connected to one before (like MedallionNet). However, simply connecting to WiFi does not mean your phone is connected to the Internet. That's why you have to enter your credentials (stateroom, DOB) to access the Internet. To keep it from accessing the Internet (to only access the ship's WiFi and App functions) go to logout.com and "disconnect" from Internet. But as long as your phone stays connected to ship's WiFi (and in airplane mode) you can still use the app since those features are local to the ship, not the Web.

A few notes: "Internet" is connecting to the WEB. "Intranet" is connecting only to ship's services. They are different. The Medallion App uses the INTRANET while Safari, email, WhatsApp, YouTube, etc. need INTERNET access. You can continue to use the Medallion app functions while connected to ship's WiFi, but you don't need to connect to the Internet unless you need access to off-ship data.

Fun fact: some SMS-based notification services (like WhatsApp, email notifications, and Ring notifications) will still get through for a period of time even though you disconnected from the Internet. This is likely due to delayed deactivation of SMS packets on the ship's WiFi routers. This can be frustrating since you'll see a notification pop up (comes via SMS) but when you go to check, you can't connect since you've disconnected from the internet.

    Thank you!!!!!!!

@High C's  If you want to use the internet to surf or pick up emails, you will have to connect to the Medallion Wi-Fi.

First thing you do is turn on Airplane Mode to make sure your current plan is disabled while on the ship (turn it back on when you are on shore/according to your carrier plan).

You will have to purchase a device plan if you want to do anything involving the internet.

Medallion class works off of the INTRAnet (internal ship internet).

But with the "Princess Plus" package, I don't have to purchase internet minutes for ONE device, correct?  And this isn't limited in terms of minutes?  (this is my first "medallion" cruise, indeed my first cruise since Covid.  I'm used to the old 250 minutes free plan we would get!)

  5. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU @cruzin4us for asking this!  I am so COMPLETELY non-technically fluent (is that even a sentence???).

So here's my "iPhone for dummies" question - I don't log onto the internet on my phone.  It just logs on itself.  I realize its my data plan or wifi access that makes this happen.  So how do I NOT have this happen while we are on the ship?  So that I am only using the App function and nothing else?

Oh, and while you're explaining things to me, does What's App work without your data being turned on?

See - "not technically fluent".  Told ya! 🙂

I am doing a 12 day British Isles cruise in August 2022.  Many people on our ship are doing the Loch Lomand, Trossachs and Stirling Castle excursion.  Unfortunately, most of these are already booked, so we are trying to find a private excursion.  One of the people in our party would like to see Glasgow as well. I looked at a map and Glasgow is the opposite direction.  We dock at 8, not sure how long it will take to tender off since I know they give priority to Princess excursions for the tenders, and we have to be back on the ship by 6, so need to be back at the tender place by 5 or 5:15 I would think.  So I am thinking maybe a 7 hour tour.

Since it looks like we will have to arrange a private excursion, I suppose it is possible to include both Glasgow itself as well as Loch Lomand and Stirling Castle, not sure about the Trossachs then.  Does anyone have any suggestions re this? Should we try for a stop in Glasgow itself? Should we skip that and just do the other places? Are there other places we should go instead?

I could be wrong, but I do not recall Greenock to be a tender port.  We were there in 2016, and I am almost positive we docked.  And I just looked at our itinerary for August this year, and it is not listed as a tender port.

  7. Thanks for this info.  We are on board on Aug 5 for the first time.

Where did you board?  NYC or Southampton?  And what tine did you arrive at the pier?

Many thanks and continue to enjoy your cruise 🙂

On our February cruise on the Emerald, we were in Isolation hell.  It was on Aloha Deck.  The covid positive cases (Red Zone) was on the forward, Port side.  Quarantine cabins for crew was on the forward, Starboard side.

Yikes.  Sorry to hear that. 😞

  9. Is anyone able to advise which deck/cabin block is currently being used on Emerald Princess?

We have a mini suite on Emerald deck booked for our BI cruise in August.  These cabins usually sell out VERY quickly, but for our sailing there are several that are still available.  Which makes me nervous that perhaps everyone else knows something I don't!!!! LOL

Any info would be greatly appreciated 🙂

I don't imagine an airline is going to continue to require any Covid protocols that they don't have to do by law.

Try this AC tool by putting in your origin and destination cities and dates of travel and you get back Covid requirements & info.

Thanks!  I'm not the OP, but appreciate the info  🙂

  11. Further to the OP's question:  the country (Canada) may not require it, but does the airlines?  We need to be tested before we board the ship, which is also true when boarding in Canada.  So, using that analogy, it is possible the airlines may have their own rules?  Just a thought.....

We are travelling to/fm NYC and Toronto this summer via Air Canada.  I have read (and re-read) their website and can't find anything definitively saying whether or not you need a test to FLY.  So my guess would be no.  But who knows?  LOL

Yes, Emerald should be separate for sure!

But, Steelers36 brought up a good point, are you in the same cabin on your b2b,

the Enchanted?  Would be interesting to see how they show different cabins.

    They do show b2b’s

    together.  The Enchanted should show

Aug 26-Sep 17 even though they are separate bookings. That doesn’t matter.

Just treat it as one cruise when you do your DMW, etc.  But, wait until the bookings are straightened out.

They worked in the b2b issues up until we actually sailed in Feb and Mar.  I really don’t think they fixed it, only on a case by case basis, as far as I know.

Yep - same cabin on Enchanted.  So I'd be fine with that - as long as our dining selection extends across BOTH bookings!

I'm a Medallion newbie.  Navigating it is hard enough - let alone with so many glitches! LOL

I'll report back when I hear. 🙂. Thanks again.

I updated my post immediately after submitting as I realized you truly were connected across two different ships.  Just a thought - did you have a ship or schedule change between booking and now?  Regardless, you do have a problem.

LOL - figures that I happened to see your post immediately!! 🙂

Hopefully they respond to my email quickly 🙂   Many thanks

I am not sure that you really have a problem here.  First, B2B's on the same ship do show up in MC App as a contiguous voyage.  Has been like this since Day 1 of MC App and I would not be concerned.  I presume you are in same cabin.  I am not sure what MC App shows if a guest is on a B2B and has two different cabins.

The Emerald trip should not be lumped in with the Enchanted trips.  For example, we have B2B2B on Regal in Oct and that shows as one voyage in MC App.  We then move to Island for Oct 31 after a five day gap.  That shows as a separate voyage in MC App.

The linking is not going to do anything in your situation.  Strange that this issue still persists for you as I thought it was something fixed last year.  The OCEAN team should be able to straighten it out.

The problem is that the Emerald is the ONLY cruise showing.  But it shows I am on board all the way through to the end of the second Enchanted.  I would not be concerned if it was merely the 2 Enchanted cruises linked together.

Not only not in the same cabin, but not on the same ship! LOL

So I'm pretty sure I do have a problem 🙂
