  1. I do not see the Bright Lights shows currently on QA (Noir and Fizz) transferring to the G32 - these are interactive, intimate shows and G32 is far too big for the like. Silent discos are thankfully limited to a couple of sessions per voyage and hopefully a fad that will die out in the next year or so!

  2. This for us was totally bizarre. A scrap piece of sequin fabric bunched in a frame! Why! On a main staircase! There were a few things we liked on QA but the negatives outweighed the positives and unless we get a great deal on a not to be missed itinerary she is not for us at the moment!image.jpeg.2e7155c5902f4842c9ec601d36930e7c.jpeg

Afternoon everyone, I’ve resisted commenting on QA so far as I’m aware she will divide loyal WCC members but may appeal to a younger generation.
(For context I’m 47 and my partner 48, both Diamond level and love Cunard ships for many reasons- so we are below the average age on some voyages)

Having tried QA  I could comment stateroom furnishings and Queens Room size, or the layout … none of which are going to change in the immediate future.
However one thought has struck me onboard and that was the somewhat bizarre artwork without explanation..

    Two examples are posted below, and of course raises the question;

    “But is it Art??”

a hot pink frame with bubble wrap bubble wrap inside and of course the mirrored outline of a man outside of the cigar lounge … apparently it’s not meant to be Rolf Harris … -although that’s now the nickname for said mirrored installation!
Bring back QM2 bowl of fruit or the scratched images of QE2 on QV .. all is forgiven!!

  4. I have read that it is helpful to ask for a single table for two - might not be in the most prominent position for viewing the rest of the restaurant but that is the compromise.

  5. You get a mention on the entertainment today tv broadcast in the morning by the entertainment director, and a birthday card in your cabin signed by the captain and a couple of senior officers. Not sure if this happens on embarkation day though as I’m sure all staff busy getting everyone settled in. I have just celebrated my birthday in grills - no cake - that said other than putting my cards up in the cabin I don’t draw attention to it.

And Kings Court... the only polite thing I can think to say is it is not my favorite place on QM2.

Not ours either in the day but the Chefs Galley in the evening can hit the spot with pizza/pasta table service.

  7. Final thoughts - have thoroughly enjoyed our first experience on Queen Anne - great service, staff, food - with the exception of one Michel Roux inspired lamb dish which was below par for Cunard! Have seen some great shows in particular Suzanne Godfrey, Flautist, Dean Atkinson ventriloquist, Laura Evans country singer and the very funny John Martin. Also enjoyed The Barricade Boys, seen before on Cunard, Macdonald Bros and Clive Myrie talk.  Royal Court Theatre company, and the numerous other musicians on board, were excellent. As said before the Queens room (IMO) is not big enough and badly designed in terms of viewing the performers unless in a prime area. Loved both shows, Noir and Fizz, in Bright Lights. I am not a fan of the pavilion area (shoot me) too busy, too closed in, not for me. I like the panorama pool area but unfortunately weather was a tad cool and windy! Obviously different venues are popular on every cruise and the Golden Lion was a busy bar on this cruise whereas the Commodore was soulless whenever we went! The sea was generally calm so cannot comment on stability in rough seas. The cabins are comfortable (beds) and showers excellent but not enough storage space for more than 2 weeks. Some issues with embarkation on port days - need to open up a couple of gangways/security! The Royal Court theatre is comfortable(think best seats cinema) and has the latest tech/lighting which we enjoyed but does not have the charm of the QM2 or QV theatres. Had a great couple of weeks but we future booked on board for QV next year due to itinerary - and the fact we like her! No doubt Queen Anne is suited to warmer cruise destinations, given outside space, and would choose her again if itinerary was right and we could sail from Southampton.

  8. Can highly recommend the November crossing, having done the round trip last November and booked on again for this year! First leg is the Cheltenham Literature Festival - brings a good atmosphere and ‘buzz’ to the ship and bonus if you have an interest. Day in NYC then head for warmer weather. Xmas Decorations start popping up all over the ship and will be fully installed by the time you reach NYC on your return journey. As others have said you can never predict the weather on the Atlantic - depends what time of year best suits you to travel.

So is there anyone hinting on board that there might be a chance of improving storage in staterooms? That (and the Queen’s room) appear to be the main negative feedback. And indeed are there any locations in cabins to allow for adding wardrobes or anything. @Victoria2 I take it plenty of storage in Queens?

I would say no in PG unless they can introduce drawers under bed! We are liking the living space and shower is excellent but do find the cabin dark as long and narrow! Queens room is a definite no for me - no room to expand and the continual use of plastic conference chairs is a put off! We have enjoyed some great shows in the Royal Court and Bright Lights so positive and negatives for us!

Thinking about doing the small four nighter to Rotterdam in late August to cure my withdrawal symptoms.

Good call - you will be ready for it by then! Thanks for taking us along on your extended and extended and extended trip - much appreciated! Have you got any plans for QM2 in the pipeline?

  11. Totally in agreement and support your actions. People are well aware of the dress code - or should be via booking and on board information and if you don't like it choose another line. Management need to be held to account for this unacceptable attitude and I hope you follow it up. To be honest we have not enjoyed the Commodore Club on this voyage - not sure if it is down to atmosphere or demographic but will give it another go tomorrow night - last gala night!

Devil's advocate here. If seats were taken, it must mean other passengers decided to arrive early enough to get seated.

Gauge the situation and act accordingly. We knew the area would be packed, decided to have an early ish dinner ( crispy duck…the best on a Cunard ship  we have ever had) and go and enjoy an evening of live music which suited our tastes. 🙂

Good for you - as I say horses for courses in terms of venues, choice of entertainment and menu!
