Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Already have. I've got two VV cruises and one Carnival cruise booked... I'm just not looking forward to having to go to Miami... but I do loves me da no kids cruising, lol... plus all the other different ways VV handles cruising. But yeah... nothing at all wrong with Carnival and they SAIL OUT OF TAMPA 🎆🎊🎉
  2. Thank you all. I didn't include Royal simply because I haven't yet looked into a Royal cruise for myself ... but I know that they sail out of Tampa because as a college graduation present, (in 25 days, May 3rd), my son is going on the Grandeur of the Seas sometime in August. As for NCL, none of the cruises in which I was interested sail out of Tampa 🤷
  3. That I can sail out of Tampa, which is only an hour away, vs Miami which is 4 hours away, lol 😂🤣
  4. I'm right there with ya. Just because the government, (like they're a creditable entity 🤦), says they are adults doesn't mean they are. My hierarchy of "adults" is: 18/19 if you're serving in the military, (you grow up FAST there). 23/24 if you're married WITH kids. 27/28 married but no kids. 30+ if you're single. NEVER if you're a Male under any circumstances at any age... at least that's what my wife tells me, lol 🤣
  5. I'm like you... just like when we go to Disney, the hotel is just a place to sleep... so we go with the Value resorts, (though we do occasionally splurge on the pricier resorts). I think if I went balcony I'd spend an hour or two on it, (when I wake up and an hour or so before bed), with an interior I would just get up and out more quickly. For maybe 2 hrs/day on a balcony for one cruise per year vs two interior cabin cruises per year... the interior wins. But... 🤷 I might try a balcony at some point. For the next year and a half starting in September 2024, I've got 2 VV interior cruises set, and one NCL, (also Interior cabin), set <-- because I don't see any VV itineraries going to the Bahamas during times I want to travel.
  6. If you scroll down a bit on this page regarding their Spa & Fitness classes, you'll see a pic of two guys with light weight gloves. I'd be willing to bet that this means that they at least have gloves 🤷 https://www.virginvoyages.com/fitness-spa
  7. Thank you. Only been on two cruises before... Disney 15 yrs ago, and I forget the line 10 yrs before that... but we went to St.Thomas and St. Marteen, (sp?). So, no status with anyone anywhere.
  8. Thank you. Not sure what, "DBE," means... so I'm going with, "I don't have it, Alex for $200" lol. At those prices I'd never drink $300 worth of non-alcoholic drinks... so I'll just pay ala carte, thank you.
  9. Hiya, folks. I don't drink alcohol, but do enjoy the occasional "Mocktail," Milk Shake, maybe a Specialty Coffee or Tea... maybe. First, in all the reviews and YouTube videos I've watched... I don't think I've seen mention of Milk Shakes... though given there's an ice cream shop, there must be Milk Shakes, right? Can anyone tell me roughly the cost of Mocktails & Milk Shakes please? I know of some bars that charge the same price for virgin cocktails as they do alcoholic ones, and some places that reduce the price. I'm just wondering, based on approximate price, if I'd drink $300 worth of those items over the course of 5 & 6 days, (the length of my two different VV cruises). Thank you for your help.
  10. Thank you. Good point, however, I called and apparently the only perk I don't get is the $Xhundred Bar Tab for free. Since I don't drink alcohol I don't care about that... sure I could get "mocktails," specialty coffees/teas, or milkshakes, but to be honest, I'd never drink a couple/three hundred dollars worth of any of those items. I also don't like coffee, and I'm fine with plain ol' iced tea, (which is free for me anyway). So, fortunately for me at least, that's a non-issue.
  11. Thank you. Yes, I am. I'd much rather pay more and have the security of knowing that being a cruise line excursion the boat won't leave without me should something hit the fan, than save a few bucks and risk becoming a "Pier Runner," lol.
  12. Thank you. Our last cruise, about 15 yrs ago on Disney, Hurricane Irene was rampaging through. We apparently came within 120 miles of it on the first day/evening, and the boat was ROCKIN'!! By late afternoon my wife and son, (8 yrs old at the time), were DONE. Green around the gills, and nauseous as heck. I don't get motion sick so I went up to the pool... there were a few others up there, and we proceeded to walk across the deck, it would surge upwards to the point we'd all turn around and run "down" the deck... then it would heave the other way, slowing our ascent, we'd turn back around and run back "down," lather, rinse, repeat. Then we'd get into the center of the pool, and watch as the ship rocked and the water raised to the edge, spilling out some then swish up the other side as the boat heaved. The 2nd day all was fine. We went to dinner that night, my family having recovered, and the waitress told us that between the two dinner seatings she had 32 families... only TWO showed up the night before, lol. We got aced out of one port stop; Barbados, but then went there the next day because Disney's private island couldn't take us.
  13. Hello, folks, I'd like to try taking a cruise every 6 months, while avoiding Hurricane Season, (June 1 - November 30). That's a narrow window when trying to avoid potential hurricanes, however I've lived in the Tampa Bay area of Florida for 30 years, so I'm well familiar with Hurricane Season and the fact that it ramps up in August through the end of October ... being less active June, July, and November. Having said that, I'm not familiar with the weather/temps in the Caribbean during those times of year. So, if you were trying to book a cruise every 6 months, and not freeze, or at least not freeze in the water... may I ask your suggestions and advice please? Being VV at least I don't have to manuver around kids' vacation times, lol. Thank you for your time. Take care, Lou
