I've tried searching for this topic, but I find it confusing. Does texting work on the ship & do you need to have wi-fi to use it? I have Verizon & found on their website that they have a "pay as you go" plan. My niece is not getting wi-fi, but we need to be able to text/communicate with her on board. I have heard that we should put our phones on Airplane mode, but then that blocks texts, correct? Thanks! Kris

I tried to find a recent "Activity" list and had a hard time finding Nieuw Statendam that was readable. If anyone can post one in here, I would greatly appreciate it.

My young adult niece will be on our Nieuw Statendam January cruise and I'm asking for suggestions for her. We spend most of our days in the sun at the pool and she is not a sun person. I have done some searches & found some things she might like (BBC Earth presentations, puzzles/games, finding a shady spot to read, etc.). Does anyone have a recent "Activities" list that they give out daily on the NS? I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, Kris

It seems I cannot make show reservations now for my January cruise. When I'm on board, can I do that on the app or do you just show up? I really liked it on Royal to plan ahead and make all the reservations before we left, so less to do on board. Not a big deal though. Thanks, Kris

Hi, I'm new to HAL. I did search for some info on tender tickets but didn't find anything specific. On RC & Celebrity, we just went to the tender door & got in line. I hear for HAL you have to get a ticket on HAL. Can you do that on the app or do you go to Guest Services? Thanks! Kris

I'm confused by this. For our January cruise on Nieuw Statendam, we got the "Have it all" which includes the Signature beverage package. On the website for this package, they show what looks like a canned water & the words say "bottled water". Are you saying it might not be included? Thanks!

Can you book main dining room reservations on the website or app before you get on the ship? I found the specialty dining, but not the main dining room. Thanks, Kris

I was on Waitlist for an Excursion for my January cruise. I rec'd an email that it was available & I had 72 hrs to book. I go to the website & can't use my Excursion credit. Also, somehow now it showed double the excursions for the same one (2 for me & 2 for my husband). I was not able to remove the duplicates. So, I called & the guy said that you cannot use the credit on waitlisted excursions. So, I had to pay for them and when on the ship I have to visit Guest Services to get onboard credit? It was hard to understand him. What an inconvenience! Has anyone heard of this? Thanks, Kris

Well, it would not be a demand and I would never even be upset it they didn't have it. It was a simple question that i wondered about. I thought that was what this message board was for. I will take my stevia for my coffee.

Thanks for the info! Darn, we have never been to Key West, but the Bahamas are beautiful. We are beach people, so really looking forward to Half Moon Cay! I'm always surprised that you rarely find an excursion that takes you to a beach for more than 3 hours. Have fun!!! Kris

Yes, I had problems and someone on here said to wait for a few minutes after you choose Flights and Begin. It worked for me! 🙂

Thanks for the response! Below is what I see, but was hoping to see the port name or if a tender, a name of an area where we go from the ship (for Ocho Rios & Key West). That way, i can look at the area to see what shopping & restaurants are there. The invoice from my TA does not have much info at all, including even the itinerary.

So, I know there is a separate forum for Cruise ports, but wanted to ask this here since I have read that there are multiple places at Key West that a ship can dock (or tender). Where does HAL go? Our itinerary does not list it (January 2023 on Nieuw Statendam). Also, can you just walk around for shopping & restaurants? Since I'm asking anyway LOL, how about Ocho Rios? Same question. For a January 2023 cruise on NS, the air is $50 more pp on HAL vs the airline directly. Any reason to go with HAL? Thx! Kris

The inside cabins are listed as 141 to 225 sf. That is a big difference for a small cabin. Our last inside cabin on Celebrity had a loveseat area which was nice. I booked cabin 7070 on Nieuw Statendam and in doing some YouTube views, it looks like just the bed and a desk. Are there any larger inside cabins which are the 225 sf? Not a huge deal, but just curious. Thanks! Kris

At first I tried this & no luck. So i cleared my internet cache & shut down my laptop and then tried again (waiting patiently LOL). It finally worked!! So, not sure which thing fixed it LOL. Airfare is running higher than last year 😞 Thanks so much for the idea!!

I have been trying to get flights on a held cruise for 3 days, but always an error. I have never booked on HAL before. Is the website this bad or do I need to do something techy, like clearing cache, reboot? I do not want to call. Thanks, Kris

Nope, no luck. I actually have 2 holds because I wasn't able to figure out how to cancel one. I just wanted to change the cabin (couldn't figure that out either lol). It shouldn't be this hard. But thanks for your reply!

I put the cruise in HOLD yesterday and keep getting an error when I try to price airfare.....I don't want to call LOL. Is this normal? Thx Kris
