She has ... a Colombian passport.

Visa requirements are based upon the country of passport:

    https://www.migrationexpert.ca/canadian-embassy/colombia

    This is an interesting site:

    http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp

It says a Greencard holder doesn't need a ETA or VISA, but then when you click on the link, it says that Columbian citizens need a Visa, with no discussion about USA Greencard Holders.

You may need an eTA, depending on how you travel to Canada

If you drive a car or arrive by train, bus or boat

You don’t need an eTA, but you need to bring the right travel documents. You don’t need a visitor visa either.

    Visitors to Canada

Identification requirements for United States citizens and permanent residents, and international visitors

All international travellers must carry acceptable identification and a valid visa (if necessary) when entering Canada. A passport is recommended because it is the only reliable and universally-accepted travel and identification document for the purpose of international travel. International transport companies, such as airlines, must make sure that travellers have proper, valid travel documents. If you do not have the proper documents, you may be delayed or unable to board the plane. What you need will depend on where you are from, how you are travelling, and what documents you are travelling with. Consult entry requirements by country.

When you enter Canada, a border services officer will ask to see your passport and a valid visa, if you are arriving from a country for which one is required. Visit the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada website to learn more about what travel documents are required.

Citizens of the U.S. who are members of the NEXUS program may present their membership card as proof of identification and as a document that denotes citizenship, when arriving by air (when coming from the U.S.), land, or marine modes.

Citizens of the U.S. who are members of the FAST program may use their cards as proof of identity when arriving by land and marine modes only.

Permanent residents of the U.S. who are members of the NEXUS or FAST programs must travel with a passport and proof of permanent residence, and may be asked to present these documents to the officer upon arrival at the border.

Permanent residents of the U.S. who are members of NEXUS also need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) when flying to or transiting through Canada. Citizens of the U.S. and Canada are exempted.

All visitors arriving from or transiting through the U.S. are encouraged to visit the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website for information concerning the U.S. Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, and the requirements to enter or return to the U.S.

This site is more definitive. Bring her Passport and Green card (which you need anyway to re-enter the USA). No ETA required for car/boat:

  2. The "All Aboard" at 7:45 is before the ship's departure at 8:30. The ship can't depart until everyone  has taken part in the "Guest Safety Assembly", otherwise known as the Muster Drill. Don't miss the first Guest Safety Assembly. People grumble about other people not showing up and having to wait for them. Think of the Late Embarking Guest Safety Assembly as a backup only if you really can't make the first one. If you don't attend either, they will disembark you from the ship before they sail away.

Don't know about when you can book specialty dining on the first night. You would think that Princess would have that correctly programmed, as it is not unusual. BTW: if you book the first seating at 8:00, they won't expect you there until about 10 minutes after the Muster Drill is over. Even if it ends late.

If you arrive Whittier at 5:30, transit to the Ship and check in, and drop your stuff off in your cabin. By then, it will be 6:30 at the earliest. Grab a snack and freshen up for dinner. Enjoy the Guest Safety Assembly, and then be off to dinner.

The fact that this is primarily felt in the aft quarter of a ship has long made me wonder why so many cruisers seek out cabin towards the aft.

I am starting to plan my next cruise, and am selecting Forward to avoid the vibrations, and because they are cheaper.

Let's try and leave this thread on track about their cruise and the ship and not about the dress codes....🙂

I was on the same cruise. Ate in the MDR for dinner on all nights, except at St Thomas where we ate in town since the ship was docked until 10pm. MDR selection is much better than the Buffet for dinner. At the MDR, no dress code enforcement. I was really casual for dinner, except on dress up nights.

For breakfast, if they have something you like, the MDR is much better. Sometimes the selection wasn't so great for breakfast, but I could always get a good omelette at Planks. I found out on the last day I could order a custom omelette at the MDR, not just ham and cheese. Bacon was better in the MDR vs the pile in the Buffet. If you want pancakes or french toast, definitely go the the MDR and get a freshly made one, not one that has been sitting around for 30 minutes. Lots of mystery items on the Buffet. Seems like they were trying to use up excess food. The day after serving lobster in the MDR, they had Lobster Crepes for breakfast.

On Embarkation day, I missed the MDR because I had to sit around waiting to make a Sanctuary reservation. We ate at the Buffet, and I was hard pressed to find something I wanted to eat. I forgot about going to the back and checking out Planks and Steamers. I could probably have found something there. Or, I should have just got a hamburger from the Grill. For the rest of the week, we ate lunch at the MDR, or on shore.

Soft serve Ice Cream wasn't great. It was kind of grainy (ice crystals). Pizza was mediocre too.

Did you take any patter or menu photos?  Also how was the pool deck pizza?

I have all the Patters, except for the last day (I wonder where it went). I'll try and post them tomorrow.

Pizza is ok. About as memorable as Costco Pizza.

Thought someone had mentioned a 'training' class on the ship for learning how to use your Medallion capabilities.

Was there anything like this on the Caribbean Princess?

On Embarkation day: 1:45 pm MedallionClass Orientation. Join your Cruise Director Matt and learn about the wonderful experiences available with your Medallion.

  8. Traveled on the Caribbean Princess last week. Did not need to print out the Boarding Pass to Embark. The Medallion pulled up everything they needed. Although, you may want the Boarding Pass in case Medallion is having a bad day. It was around 12:00, and only had to wait about 2 minutes for a Medallion check-in. There was a regular line, but not bad. The only problem was that they wanted to re-take the Security photo.

We also had the login problem on the ship (had to keep re-logging in). It seems to have settled down after a day. Don't bother trying to use the email/password to login. It didn't work. The only reliable way was to use your cabin/name/birthday.

Tip: after you connect to the wifi, login.com will forward to the login screen. logout.com will log you out. Useful if you bought the 4 device pass for only one of you, and you want to login your companion's device after they have already logged in (ocean.com does not forget who you are - It only forgets that you have logged in for internet).

They don't seem to care if only one of you has the 4 device pass and share it. However, if you do that, you loose the chat feature as Chat is part of Ocean Concierge, and that is what you need to connect to the internet. No worries though. when we are connected to the internet, we could e-mail each other. Or, if both of you have iPhones, you can iMessage via text (that goes through internet, not cellular texting).

  9. During the Ultimate Ship Tour, I asked about the vibration. The Control Room guy mentioned something about the propellers turning at different speeds.

I also asked about the wet dock fix. He said each propeller shaft has 2 motors, and the wiring on one of the motors needed fixing. With just one motor, the propeller can run at 60%. For the fix, the shaft was partially removed so the motor could be taken out. The motor was then rewired. Sounded like it all happened internally to the engine room - no hole was cut in the side of the ship.

Don't know if there are 2 separate motors on the shaft, or if one of the windings on the motor was a problem.

  10. Ship: Caribbean Princess

    Class: Grand

    Deck: 14 Riviera

    Cabin Number: R305

    Category: BC

    Location: Starboard, Mid-Forward

    Connects With Cabin: N/A

    Accessible: No

Quiet: Yes (except for neighbor one night). Cabins above and below.

Balcony Size: Normal, approx 86" wide x 52" deep

    View: Normal

Privacy Issues: No issues. Although Bridge can 1/2 the balcony from the wing.

    Wind: None

    Soot: None

Problems: No shelf in mini-fridge. Bad sliding door handle design - hard to open from inside. The handle turns down to lock, and up to unlock. However, when in the up position, it is hard to pull door sideways since the handle wants to rotate down to the middle/sideways position. They need a fixed handle on the inside, like they have on the outside.

Comments: Had Barrel Chair on July, 2019 cruise. Closest elevator bank to the main theater, so it can be a wait to get back to the cabin when a main show lets out (theater on Deck 7, cabin on Deck 14. Did not feel like walking up 6 flights of stairs. Very convenient access to the Spa (2 flights up), and to the Lido Deck (pools, and buffet). However, the Buffet is aft, so it is a hike. Wall between the bed and closet is NOT metal, so magnetic hooks will not work on that wall. Looks like the panel between adjoining balconies can be opened. However, it looks like it has not been open in a while. Probably only regularly used on cabins that have connecting internal doors - if you open the internal door, you may also want the balcony panel open. The panel looks like it only opens 1/4 turn (half way), and not flush to the wall (post is in the middle of the balcony, and lock is against ship hull). Thus, an open door takes up a little space on the balcony. It is possible to lay both chairs almost flat, and take a nap on the two. Not comfortable enough to sleep for an extended period of time. Ship is wider on decks 10&11(??) so you can see those balconies when you look down.

  11. We are underway, and I am sitting in the World Market on Lido deck. The Caribbean Princess has a really bad vibration problem. The silverware basket is rattling and slowly moving across the table. My wife was having a massage, and it felt like they installed vibrating tables.

Don't know if it is an HVAC, propulsion, or other problem.

No reason was given other than very small issue.  we weren’t delayed that long maybe 15 minutes

Sound like one of the gerbils went on strike and they had to promise more food before he got back on the wheel.
