Thank God it's only first come first serve and no reservations needed. I've heard about reservations on other cruise lines for shows ...

Most likely you heard about people saving a block of seats for their family and friends. Which is against the rules and lead to fights, but that is a different thread.

    Sorry.  You miss the point.

The trick is to tell you are inside the stateroom and want the door locked behind you if the sensors outside can detect the BLE beacon when you are inside.

The door is automatically locked. The trick is telling when to automatically unlock it. As I see it, the only time it should unlock automatically is if you first pass A or C before arriving at B. Any other time, the door stays locked. If you are inside the cabin, you turn the door handle to unlock the door.

Does the door unlock automatically when you are inside the cabin and are leaving?

With obvious WiFi access points in the corridors and none in the staterooms, the panel had to be passing WiFi-frequency radio.  With the Medallion tech needing to know whether a Medallion was in the stateroom (and you presumably wanting the door locked) or just outside in corridor (and presumably wanting the door unlocked) the panel can't be passing all frequencies.

Assuming they don't have Access Points in the cabin, then the easy solution is:

Assume wifi access points A, B, and C, with B being the one at your cabin. If you pass A or C, and then are located at B, then it can tell you were in the hallway and unlock the door when you get to point B.

No need for special frequencies that the door traps.

Does the find a shipmate software allow you to find just anyone? I didn't think it did so is the paper issue much different. (Of course, finding someone using the software versus going up every hall on every cabin deck requires much less effort.)

You can find the other person in your cabin (assuming they did not turn off the location feature). In order to find someone else, you both have to grant permission in the app somehow.

  5. I booked the 4 device unlimited internet, but I only have 3 devices. I've seen other posts about giving their internet to a crew member when they leave the ship. How about giving the crew member the 4th device during the entire cruise?

Has anyone tried getting the engineers to replace the battery? Or PSD to replace a medallion when the battery was not operating correctly?

Battery doesn't look like it is easily replaceable. Probably can get a replacement generic medallion (no engraving) from the Passenger Service Desk.

I agree.  I have an 8 day land tour before my next cruise and I am worried about receiving the medallion before I leave home for Alaska.  I wish they would ship them as soon as the final payment is made.

There is a battery in the medallions. From what I read, they don't last much longer than the cruise. Shipping them when you make final payment practically guarantees a dead medallion when you board.

CCL stock has been in freefall for the past couple weeks . Perhaps now is the time to buy if you are not already a stockholder.

Been in a steady decline since it reported earnings in Sept 2018. Another bad earnings report on June 20, 2019. In Dec an Mar, it took 3 days before an earnings miss before it started to recover. I would wait for the up-turn if I needed to buy. Maybe a few more days.

  9. Seems like the obvious answer is to NOT display private information on the public screens.

Even companion information can be limited. If they are in a public place, then the screen can show where they are (not that much of an invasion of privacy when you are in a public place). If they are in their cabin, the screen reports only "in their cabin", and not the location of the cabin. If they are in a different cabin, it can just say "other cabin", and you have to figure the rest out yourself.

$70 + a day and you can’t get a can of soda. Wow. Do passengers really actually buy this package.

    $70/day includes alcoholic drinks.

$24/day for anything w/o alcohol (including coffee).

$12/day for anything but alcohol and coffee.

  11. To help boost the immune system, take 1000 mg of Vitamin C twice a day. Or, something like Airborne.

I have to fly USA-Pacific once a year to visit the parents. I use to always get sick. Doctor recommended the mask and vitamin C. It worked. Mask works on a 14 hr flight. Not so much on a week long cruise. Take all the precautions of not touching your face with your hands unless you just washed them.

While not a fortified wine, sake does normally have a higher alcohol content than traditional grape wines. The question remains. Also, isn't sake served warm? How will you heat it?

While Sake has higher alcohol that MOST wines, it does rival the alcohol in some wines. The alcohol content is determined by the yeast and the sugar content in the original grapes. Some grapes have high sugar content.

Some sake is served warm, and some chilled.

Sake is sometimes called Rice Wine. Wine is made from Fruit (i.e. blackberry wine), and most of that it is from grapes.. It doesn't have to be grapes. Rice is technically a fruit.

We are onboard the CP right now. So far I’ve been underwhelmed by the air conditioning, especially in the stateroom. The AC is definitely “working” and probably within the company’s desired range, but if you prefer to sleep at any temperature that resembles cool, you will likely be disappointed.

they seem to keep the temperature at just *barely* below a sweat (if you don’t use a sheet or blanket) - and call it a success.

Let me know now if anyone has any other questions from onboard.

Where on the ship are you? Deck? Forward, mid forward, mid, mid aft, aft?

Any suggestions from my post above?  On downloading the other apps?  We keep getting "Registration Failed"

Are you getting "registration failed" with the Ocean Ready, or the other Ocean apps? If the other Ocean Apps, I'm guessing they only work when you are on board the ship and connected to their wifi.

I am still trying to figure out the coffee part of the new drink packages.  Previously I have purchased the Unlimited Soda and the New Grounds Coffee card.

Now I am thinking about combining those and getting the Premium Coffee and Soda Package. But is that a true combination of the previous two?  Can I get all of the specialty coffees that are on the New Grounds Menu, lattes, mochas, frappucinos, etc. in this new package?  It is really unclear.

It seems like the New Grounds Coffee Package includes 15 Specialty Beverages (7-day cruise) plus all the regular coffee you want, whereas the Premium Coffee and Soda Package is not limited ("all, specialty or premium coffees and teas"). If you drink more than 2 Specialty Beverages (espressos,  lattes, etc) per day, there may be some benefit to the combination vs buying the two separate packages.

  16. Bring along a garment bag for your coats. If the hotel won't store it, Bags To Go will store a bag at the airport for $8/day.

Better yet, bring along a collapsible bag that fits into suitcase. In FLL pack the coats into the bag. Check at the Port with your other bags. Store them with your other luggage under your bed.
