Viking Ocean gives every passenger a PCR test every day they are on the ship. They are processed right on the ship. Luckily it's a saliva test.
ETA: They also require vaccination. And of course both ships sailing (Bermuda and Iceland) have had positive cases on board.
only because tests are not accurate at all.

The other extreme is to ignore that Covid even exists. No testing, no one has it.
Transparency is better. Yes, one should not panic over small numbers, but giving no numbers tends to make people think that things are being hidden.
I know a person with Covid who got negative test and I know a person without one who got positive test ( 3 test after same day proved it )

Frankly I'm glad of this, I'm tired of CNN et. al. up the cruise lines bums for every little thing right now.
100% enough is enough . This hysteria should stop in some point . It will be always a case of Covid somewhere . If someone is afraid they should stay home . Talking about it 24/7 doesn't help.

Booked MSC for Dec. want to cancel because of masks on board , was thinking about HAL but now HAL has masks as well..... don't know..... Wearing mask on board doesn't look good for us.

If we wait for the Canadian government to reduce the travel advisory to the states we might just wait for ever. Funny how out government à letting US citizens fully vaccinated to come visit us but at same time he’s saying not to go. I’m fully vaccinated and willing to take the risk and will wear my mask when possible.
The only thing bugging me like u said is because our gouvernement has issue that travel advisory this might void our COVID Insurance.
Sea YaEric
HAL offers travel insurance and I am 99% sure Manulife offers it too . I don't care what drama teacher advise or think .

OK-so, here goes.......
I'm happy cruising has started up again. We're all talking about it and reading reviews. Just like old times. That being the case-the whole mask thing has me bummed. I even saw some pics on FB and seeing everyone in masks was a let down for me. Reading the reviews it is obvious they are enforcing it and as they should if it is the policy they implemented.
I really am ready to pull the trigger and prefer to vacation in winter months. I've had my eye on a November cruise and just lately moved my hopes to December just in case this mask thing does not go away.
I'm vaccinated. Looking forward to a vacation. Am I the only one that is waiting to see what happens??
Don't get me wrong-I am not against those who want to wear a mask or it does not bother you to wear one. I respect that. My point on posting this is, am I the lone wolf out here not booking MSC yet due to mask wearing for the vaccinated??
I know I could book NCL tomorrow but really like MSC and the yacht club. I'm thinking I can wait but if not my vacation jitters will get the best of me. Especially when the NY port opens up then I'm outa here!!! LOL
we gonna cancel out cruise on Monday. I am not wearing mask on board.

I think people should stop jumping from each Covid case or stop travelling.

Just announced that White House will not be lifting travel ban for most noncitizens who within the last 14 days have been in the U.K., European Union nations, Ireland, China, India, South Africa, Iran and Brazil.
May affect a number of Celebrity Cruisers who coming in from the UK. There is no word if they will lift the ban for Canadian as was planned.
never been a ban on Canadians , we always could flight only ground boarders are closed

We loved Aruba on our stop there and have been saying something similar. The way prices are going, we’re looking more and more at land-based holidays which seem to offer better value. The new ships especially are just too big, too, with too many people onboard and YC prices for these ships are getting crazy. Its crazy , every company goes with own rules, every country goes with own rules . Every half an hour different news making it no possible to plane ahead . We are working and have to flight to cruise so we can't play " pack and go" game. We booked MSC for DEC and I really want to be on this ship but no way I am wearing mask or cruising with no vaccinated people. and not because I am afraid to get sick ,but mainly because they have 70% more chances to get sick and they will be tested (lots of false tests),and then cruise line will f** the brain to anyone who had contact or even pass by them . I am stressed enough now I don't need extra stress on vacation. Right now options are -MSC playing CDC rules or we cruise with HAL at least the food is amazing there )))

I have not yet sailed on her and others here may have contradictory information, but I understand the outside promenade deck on this ship is considerably narrower and does not have outside deck chairs as do the older ships.
For many, including us, the deck chairs on the promenade deck are an important part of the cruising experience and not having them, if that is the case, on this newer ship would be a disappointment.
As I say, others here may have different information.
thank you .promenade deck never been important to us. We hardly or never use it.

Wanna know what's expensive ? Celebrity wants 1500.00 $ for third passenger in cabin while first and second 1300 $ lol. I never saw it before and I will not pay this price just because its ridiculous. More I read all this more I think to rent a villa in Aruba and forget about cruising until all this covid bull gone. Every half an hour is different rule or change of rules.

Hello all. Looking for a December cruise on Nieuw Statendam , didn't cruise with HAL for 10 years because of luck of evening entertainment . Now we are older and looking for vaccinated cruise only( and no masks), so HAL looks like good option, specially on bigger ships. So please tell me how is HAL now. Do they have same amazing food like before ? How is night show's in main theatre? Do we need suite for formal night or its not that formal anymore ? We are going with friends, and they do love SPA and Thermal Suites, can they get a package for the whole cruise and how much is this ? Anything special not to miss on this ship? Thank you .

Can't wait for your report . Planning to book this ship for December. We did not do HAL for a while I wonder how is food and entertainment now. If its not too much trouble could you please check how much Thermal Spa area is and if its open at all with Covid rules. 🙄

I really hope MSC will read this board and see how many people will move to Celebrity , include our party of 6 . I hate to do this , I prefer to stay with MSC but we are not wearing masks on vacation.

Why post on an MSC forum if you don't intend to sail with them? Just curious, there are other cruise lines you can choose.
First of all because its a free forum and I can post everywhere I want .And second because I have cruise booked with MSC and I am waiting to see what's a rules will be by December ,if I need a mask on board we cancel and book Celebrity .

Respectfully, that isn't a fair assessment. I have traveled on trains extensively throughout Europe for decades and never once had anything stolen, including times I was traveling solo and had to go to the bathroom, etc. I'm sorry, but it irritates me when people paint Europeans as a bunch of thieves.
I can travel by train from Civitavecchia to central Rome for 1/4 the cost of a taxi. I guess if money is no object, then go for it. But I like saving money, because the less I spend on transport, the more I spend on gelato and cappuccino!
Its not Europeans who is thieves, and you been lucky ,many people had item stolen in trains and in Rome not mention Barcelona .ITs a fact that its much more thieves in Europe then in North America but unfortunately its going wrong direction here as well. Even in Canada we start watching our pockets in Toronto now. You are alone so your cost is low but when you add train tickets for 4 ppl it will be almost taxi ride .

I did consider the train, but I'm worried that 4 of us traveling each with 1 large suitcase and 1 carry-on might be a bit cumbersome? But maybe I should rethink that...
Don't rethink it. You must watch your pockets and your luggage non stop in train and in rail station . Book private transfer .You will be out in no time ,much faster then in US .

ANY required mask usage ONBOARD for Vaccinated passengers is a showstopper as far as I am concerned.
for us as well . I am not cruising in mask on.

One thing I don't get . If MSC cruising from Florida and not gonna follow CDC rules but Florida rules why masks are needed? Florida is mask free state now. I am not going on cruise with mask on ,masks are useless anyway against airborne virus .
Management response to serious onboard complaints?
