I understand your point but believe you're comparing apples to oranges ... when I'm in a grocery store, I am masked and keep my distance.  I'm also there for about 30 minutes.  When I get to fly again, I will not have an issue with wearing my mask and avoiding close contact as much as possible.  Again, my time flying is relatively short and just a means to an end ... getting to where I am going!

However, during a cruise, I would love to think that I could relax those restrictions, go about my day/evening without a mask, not worrying about how close that stranger is while I order a drink or dance on the dance floor.  I'm currently booked with MSC and NCL ... will continue to watch and see before final payments.  In the end, if I have to prepare myself to cruise in the same manner as I get my groceries, I will probably cancel.  Just my opinion!

Us too .If mask needed on board and test every time we come back from the beach we will not cruise .

I’m with you Geobugs.  We’ll be switching our booked Celebrity and Princess cruises to MSC and possibly RCL as we have no intention of getting jabbed in the near future, and don’t mind testing.  I believe being tested is something all passengers should be required to do regardless of vaccination status.  Statistics show some vaccinated people becoming infected due to faulty immune systems,

    so universal testing makes sense.

my friend got negative test with 39 fever and lost of smell and taste , my other friends daughter got positive test without any symptoms ,she got retested 3 times same day all negative but they could not flight anyway. All this testing is no accurate at all

It is becoming increasingly clear that those of us with medical backgrounds and training have an understanding of Covid that does not match what general public has gleaned from news and social media.

With Delta variant increasing in US, public should continue with getting  vaccinated, wearing masks and avoiding “super spreader” situations without masks.

    Just my 2 cents…

if you have medical background you should know better that wearing a regular mask is absolutely useless against airborne viruses , its making it worst touching your face all the time and removing it wrong way.

Good for you but we are talking about a cruise with international guests not Walmart in Florida, some passengers are not us lucky as you or I, they may not be advanced as the US or UK in their vaccination program.
You still don't feel you have any form or responsibility to wear a mask for them? It's very likely a requirement on MSC as it is on the MSC UK cruises, will you refuse or not sail?

I will refuse to sail with mask on. I am vaccinated and I am not planning to wear a useless mask forever.

I don't blame you one bit for your decision, it's your call whether or not to cruise with MSC based on their plans not to require vaccinations. I have a different view, which is that as a fully vaccinated person, I have no worry whatsoever about becoming sick. And given that MSC is the only major cruise line to have sailed continuously since last August (apart from a short break due to Italian government mandates) without the widespread outbreak of Covid-19 that many feared (they had isolated cases here and there but never the showstopper event that was widely predicted), I'd say that their strategy has paid off. But again, it's your money and your vacation time, so you need to do what's right for you. I would rather sail on a 100% vaccinated cruise but I won't insist on it.

My question is do I have to wear a mask on board and do I have to do a test every time I board a ship? we are vaccinated

I have gone on many, many cruises but I will be going in October on my first MSC cruise (leaving from Barcelona).  The rate was great for a solo traveler (but was forced to choose a guarantee cabin).

I find the app impossible to navigate.  I don’t know how to upgrade my cabin (if I decided to do so) or how to book a tour.  All I see is a package deal for a tour that describes absolutely nothing, just asked me to pay $120.

Are we still only allowed off the ship if we book tours through the ship? And if so, where can I find a list of tours?

Also, should I worry that I booked an inside studio guarantee?  What is their cancelation policy?

Long wait till October. I would just wait till on board with all excursions. Situation changes day by day.

Probably a question for those who have have recently been on one of the MSC cruises:

Are there currently any club events?

    Receptions?

    Activities?

What about the party/reception for diamond members?

I guess it will be different after most covid rules changed

Did you try today? I just got off the phone with a CSR at 877-665-4655.

It seems like a long time since I booked a cruise, feeling like a 1st timer.  Booked online via msc 4 nights, drinks, wifi, a little obc, balcony Bella, for 2 just a bit over $1,000. I liked the itinerary overnight on the private island, port within driving distance. Its nice just to have something on the horizon.

Me too. I am even afraid to think we can go back to cruise again. We gonna be vaccinated and I hope no masks will be needed by December on board or its a no go for us.

I beg to differ. 😎 I called today, a Saturday,  at 17:37 and booked two sailings. The call ended at 17:59 which is one minute shy of their toll-free number, 877-665-4655, operating hours on a Saturday. I didn't inquire about tomorrow, Sunday; however, the CSR did confirm they will be closed in observance of Memorial Day 2021.

I can't speak as to GoldenBonny not getting through at 11:00 today. Time zone difference perhaps? Anyway, just wanted to share my Saturday experience.

Hope your upcoming cruise is a go! Cheers to all cruisers! 🥂

I am in Canada. I even called Canadian site no luck yesterday

MSC is closed on Saturday and Sunday.

you should book with a large US travel agency which is open all 365 days.

You will get a good discount of 8 to 10% on the basic Cruise fare (excluding port fees and taxes) from many different US travel agencies, if you put your chosen Cruise and cabin on the bidding site.

thank you. if they closed on weekend it would be good idea to update website and answering machine 🙄

    • Passengers don’t have to wear masks in their own cabins and can temporarily remove them “for brief periods of time while eating or drinking.”

Really ??? How was that before? 🙄

    +1

I'm sooo fed up of the same faces complaining every opportunity they get.

You even have those who like to list all the issues with a cruise from years ago and then book another cruise with the same company and start whinging all over again.

If you don't like MSC, move along to Carnival or stay at home.

LOL it would be too easy . ) I hate NCL , cruised once was more then enough for me .I will not book them again even for free and I don't go to NCL board to complain.

Can you send me a link to that if its the official position - this will help me with any switches of flights or insurance claims.

No Link . Official Canada start regular flights on July 23 . My daughter wanted to cancel her December flight they told her to wait. Now they cancel till end of October with USA but they sure it will be extended. It will be last minute announced so we keep buying tickets and air line keep our money.lol. my advice cancel this trip . November is election in USA it will be much more "protests"and riots . And don't forget over 40000 Covid cases per day.

    Just a straw poll.

Its my wife's 50th and we booked upper class flights to Miami, Cruise round the Caribbean for 7 days then a short stop in Toronto before returning to Scotland...

    Question is -

What do you think the chance of us getting to cruise on 23rd September with MSC?

We are both totally willing to go if there are no actual/legal barriers, so not looking for advice, just gut feelings will MSC be cruising by then?

No flights from USA to Canada till November .for now. I am sure it will be extended.really hope so.we cancelled our December Cruise. I don't know what should happen to make us to go to America any time soon.

I typically do lots of research before I book a cruise.  MSC just switched our sailing to Meraviglia.  I am not at all familiar with this ship.  We have previously sailed on Davina in YC and totally enjoyed the experience.  I have read a few comments on the Meraviglia and they were not all positive.  I would appreciate hearing the pluses and minuses of the ship.  We were assigned stateroom 14027.

If you like Divina you will love Meraviglia. It's much better actually and not as crowd as people love to say on this board.

Is that the listed excursions in their planner do not provide any rating/review/feedback system from those whom have taken the tours. I like the safety of booking ship tours in case something goes awry (to avoid missing the ship), but I certainly don't want to book a crappy tour, and would much prefer to book a third-party one with rave reviews as opposed to less-desirable reviews.

Can we please have ratings/reviews from passengers, MSC?

That said - has anyone historically had good - reputable - experiences with booking MSC-sponsored excursions?

    #rantover

MSC as any other cruise line use local excursion companies. All cruise lines use same operators .

Just dispute the charge with your credit card company. They can't hold onto your money for a year and a half for a cruise THEY cancelled. Also contact the media and if any US cruisers are getting this notice you need to contact the Attorney General for your state and for Florida since MSC has offices there.

Ya? all airlines can do it somehow. We don't get money back just credit for future fight

The best thing you can do in this situation is just request a full refund and wait until the situation will settle down. Why risk it when you can get a full refund NOW. In February they said that by April everything concerning the virus will be settled but as you can see the solution to this problem has been postponed. I would rather get my money and just stay at home. Its better to e with money than without money and the cruise.

You think it will be that easy. Just cancel your cruise or postpone it but no! people will not look for easy way  they want to open 1001 tops on boards because they have nothing to do at home.

Princess definitely get my vote, they have put anyone's safety first.

I wonder what MSC will do ?

What else they can do after all this Noro and Corona? Maybe they can use this time to clean ships properly.

Well i would hope most people would have the sense not to travel if they had a fever and get a doctors note to claim their refund. The point of my post was that if you should be denied at embarkation you would still get a full refund unlike MSC

As much as I know people getting refund now from MSC .But my pint is even if they return money today no one will guarantee you on a week or a month what will happened . Situation changes by minute .
