  1. I don't think the PCC will be any different. That said, when I've taken upsells in the past I was asked if I wanted to insure it. I've always opted to do that. Before anyone points it out I realize an upsell and this is different. I wonder if a person was so inclined if they could opt out of insuring it with the knowledge you will lose that money if you cancel. Something else I'm wondering about with this. I am somewhat tempted to do this but my cruise is several months out and I feel there could be price reductions before final. If i take it, and the base fare that I originally bought goes down, I wonder if I can get that price reduction OR if they will say no, you have the have it all and that price hasn't decreased. I suppose I could cancel and rebook but then items I've purchased will also be cancelled along with my air. If I ask Hal about this I don't want to hear the standard answer without knowing if it's true or not.
  2. Also pre pandemic experience doesn't necessarily mimic the situation now.
  3. Nothing appeared on my bill either but from what I can see from the credits I received it seemed to be counted.
  4. Good to hear the mdr is open. Let’s hope that continues! Good to hear things are improving as well. Thank you for the update.
  5. Exactly. This was the nicest post to. Another was removed. What if a person has a broken arm? How does a scooter help? It’s really not too much to have a dining room open. The op is not asking for it to be open 24/7.
  6. I’m not saying it’s free to get from Quebec to Denver. Is it free to get from Quebec to Montreal? An Uber would be very expensive I would think. I know that asking people that are retired to get up early one day can be a huge ask. I didn’t see the op asking for alternatives.
  7. Good information but none of these options are free or without hassle. Frankly I’d rather get up early, I do it every weekday so it’s not the end of the world to lose a few hours of sleep compared to doing trains, planes and automobiles.
  8. Wow, just wow. I appreciate the op for doing this live from thread. Seems others would rather just attack.
  9. Unless things have changed since March staff was getting tested weekly for covid. While it may not effect you to not have breakfast in the mdr some have mobility issues. Everyone will feel it with additional bodies in the cafeteria.
  10. True. I would want to be there 2 hours ahead so hopefully they would be open then, but of course check. I assume that you’d clear customs there as well so that takes additional time.
  11. The airport is fairly far away, I’m thinking a 1/2 hour but it’s been a few years since I’ve done it so you’d probably have to leave earlier than 3. There are not a ton of “good” flights timing wise out of Quebec City so I don’t blame the op.
  12. And they still do on ships without the club orange dining area.
  13. That’s a good question. I hope there would be some paper notice. I mean I don’t think I looked at my “ticket” too much before the excursion
  14. I’m a person that buys club orange so of course I’d like to see that but I’d be shocked if it happened. If the op could find out about that it would be wonderful. I’m pretty sure some people in Neptune suites would not be happy with that little nugget if true.
  15. I really don’t care to argue the point anymore. When someone posts a stick it’s gone into absurdity.
  16. Just a little clarification on my post because I didn’t explain very well. If they are short of crew I’m wondering if some are testing positive just before they step on the plane (or the day before)therefore delaying their transit to the ship.
  17. Club orange members do not get breakfast in the pinnacle grill.
  18. Absolutely 100 percent. If those sailings were booked solid guaranteed this would not have happened. Any corporation with shareholders is going to follow the money. That’s just the cold, hard reality.
  19. Same on the koningsdam. As a matter of fact she insisted that I show her my card key because it would be faster. I had my phone in my hand with the ticket open for them to scan. I guess they were used to others that struggled.
  20. That part isn’t special. It is nicer on the pinnacle class ships. I can tell you no one hated Canaletto more than I did a few years ago. Now I really love it, definitely more than the pinnacle.
  21. So they should take a new ship because those are the ones that are generally doing the short cruises. I’m sure hal leased the volendam out because the bookings were soft. So now they move this large ship that will maybe sail 1/4 full meanwhile cancelling all the other cruises just so you can have your cruise. That’s makes no sense. Ships also miss ports due to random issues so you might not get there anyway. 70 is not old.
  22. Yes of course you are right about the sea days. For some reason I was thinking port 🤪. I was on the koningsdam 4 weeks since the start up. The dining room was closed upon embarkation. I don’t understand the whole crew shortage thing. Unless they have a lot of crew testing positive when they come to join the ship why are they short? I came to know a fair number of the crew on the koningsdam. We would chat and more than a few told me there were longer times at home because hal wanted to give all employees a chance to work. I also talked quite often to my cabana steward. He was leaving very early April to go home and he didn’t have his next assignment. I think it comes down to hal being cheap, Lots of business are like this. Just work employees to death. Next year hal is putting the zaandam on the west cost while it sends the koningsdam on long extended cruises. This makes zero sense. The market for those lengthy cruises would be less because not a ton of people can take that much time off. I have zero interest in sailing on this ship again.
  23. And yet you are reading this thread. I guess the fish must be cooking.
