Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I am booked on the 8/19 sailing of the Viva, and just received an email informing me that Beetlejuice won’t be ready for our sailing. The relevant part of the message reads: We regret to inform you that 'Beetlejuice ' The Musical' is not quite ready for your voyage. Due to some delays in production, the entertainment team will not be stage-ready in time for your sailing. While we understand this may come as a disappointment, please note there will be plenty of programming and entertainment options on board, including show-stopping performances in Syd Norman's Pour House; 'ICONS,' a concert experience featuring songs from musical legends from Dolly Parton to Lady Gaga; as well as a number of other musical talent and comedians to fill your days at sea. I am wondering how many sailings will be affected by the delay. Has anyone sailing later heard similar news?
  2. Upgraded on the 8/19 sailing of the Viva from a balcony (BF) to a spa balcony (B9) with a bid just above "good", which I settled on after bidding just over 50% of what I would have paid for a week-long thermal suite pass. I had no other bids.
  3. There’s another sailing, which used to be available for purchase on the website, starting on 8/10. I haven’t seen that it was canceled yet, so I’m guessing that 8/10 will still be the inaugural.
  4. Since I still see the name, I will hold out hope, then. Thank you!
  5. I’ve noticed another change. When I browse cruises on the NCL site, I have a banner notifying me that I have a future cruise credit to use by June 30th. No credit is reflected on my account. I’m clinging onto hope that the website is acting remarkably strange, but that hope is dwindling.
  6. I'm hoping too! It does seem like the 19th sailing has also disappeared completely from the site's search function, but I imagine that we would have heard something if there was a major change like that. I also wondered if they might have closed out bookings to invite "influencers" on the first couple of sailings.
  7. I have been keeping an eye on availability of certain stateroom types for the August 19th sailing of the Viva. There was no change in availability when I checked this morning, and something I saw here prompted me to check just now, and it’s suddenly entirely sold out. To rule out any site-wide issues, I looked at other sailings which all seemed normal, except that I can’t find any evidence of the August 10th sailing of the Viva anywhere on the NCL site. I’m not sure if that’s a new change, Does anyone have previous experience with seeing cruises rapidly go from some availability (there used to be about a dozen cabins showing in each of the two categories I was tracking) to none? I’m hoping this isn’t an indication of any delays this close to Viva’s first sailing.
  8. This is likely the worst “ploy to gain favor” ever since all it led to is a disappointed customer and a negative thread on CC.
  9. Have I been wrong in thinking that a bait and switch is criminally fraudulent advertising practice? It seems to me that the CC definition, based on at least three recent postings in different threads, is “something changed and I don’t like the way it changed.” Which is fine, I guess, but probably merits a different term that doesn’t imply fraud.
  10. Enjoy your trip! It'd be great if you could let us know what ends up happening with cruise-long or port specific VAT after you return. My trip overlaps with your itinerary quite a bit, so it would be very helpful to know what to expect from a recent, first-hand account.
  11. That's fine! If you are aware of what works for you when you're traveling, that's great! You should realize, however, that I was responding with advice for a different person who is in a different situation and expressed a specific concern.
  12. From what I've seen elsewhere in this thread, all but one bid expiring might indicate an acceptance is coming. I've also noticed earlier notifications of bids being accepted than when I was checking here regularly last year. At any rate, good luck!
  13. When you input your passport data for the airline, make sure it matches what is on your passport exactly. Many tickets are printed without middle names anyway, so you'll be fine as long as you provide the airline with the appropriate information.
  14. There’s a huge thread (linked below) on recent changes to the package that’s been pretty active, and you can probably search there for specific brands or skim to get a sense of what’s been on board lately. You can also pretty easily find (fairly) up-to-date bar menus online for all the ships. The standard package includes everything up to $15, and the premium plus includes all drinks by the glass (barring a few high priced exceptions). There is a list of wines for premium plus to have by the bottle with dinner, but those seem to be changing from voyage to voyage based on supply.
  15. I’m also wondering this (and I’m excited to find out soon!) but I think the answer is that very few people know, and those that do probably couldn’t or wouldn’t say anything here since the ship hasn’t sailed yet.
