  1. We have done the water park/swim with dolphins twice now is PV. Great trip and very easy to book on your own and save TONS of money. (You also get to be at water park longer if you book on own:) Lynn :D

The cruise lines are now looking at the list of people signed up for the day and if it's discovered that you are from the ship, you could be cancelled. If this is something you really want to do, stay with the ship excursion.

  2. I live part time in Cabo San Lucas and the company that a lot of locals use is the Rissalena. It is a family run operation, the day tour is 3 hours, $55/person, includes open bar and a full lunch. Max 24 passengers. They do not have a web site, you can reach them at rissacat@prodigy.net.mx. There are Trip Advisor reviews on them. If that is more than you want to spend, Cabo Escape is another good choice. You can google them. They are closer to the tender pier than the Rissalena.

  3. Then there is March 9...

    Daylight Savings Begins.

Many cruisers have been left in PV.

Yes, especially since Mexico sticks with the old way of daylight savings time and they don't change until April 6th. That really messes up things.:p

  4. Does anyone know are the taxi fares per person or per cab? Thanks.

It's per cab for the longer hauls.

There are mello bars/restaurants on Medano Beach if you're trying to escape the party crowd, otherwise, I think Downsized has the right advise.

  5. Hi, My husband and I are taking the Miracle to Hawaii in December. Was wondering if anyone knows of any fun things to do on Maui, Honolulu, Kuai, Kona ad Hilo? We enjoy most of our favorite times on board, but thought I would ask. It looks like the Maui docking in in an industrial type area.

We have cruised many times and are platnium but never cruised to Hawaii before.

    Thanks!

You might find your answers under the Ports of Call section:

  6. By late afternoon on New Year's Eve, many businesses are closed, too.

Not in Cabo. They were gearing up. All of the restaurants and bars were open. Most of the street shops close around 7 pm and nothing was different there, but everything opened later on New Year's Day.

  7. If you are a US citizen, you don't have to do anything until after everyone else departs the ship which is closer to 10:00 am. You will get a letter in your room the night before telling you when and where to meet.

Even if you have to change cabins, the room steward will help you move your things so you don't have to do a complete pack up.

  8. Yes. Just got off the Dream. My kids made platinum in the middle of the cruise, and they were platinum upon boarding.

Whoops, sorry for incorrect information. Other lines make you complete the days, I thought Carnival was doing the same.

  9. Can anyone give me directions to the Ocean riders office from the cruise pier for a whale watching tour? I understand it near the Nowhere Bar.

Yes, it is in the same complex as the No Where Bar in Plaza Bonita. If you look straight across from the tender pier, you will see Plaza Bonita. Once you leave the tender pier, go right and follow the marina all the way around until you come to the No Where Bar. You can also use the large mall, Puerto Paraiso, as a landmark. About an easy 20-25 minute walk or less if you walk fast.

  10. Since I live in CA my certificate has no expiration as per state law. I only have one FCC left and will be using it for the double amount.

I thought the same thing and checked with my PVP who cleared the answer with several people to be sure it was correct. Carnival is using the excuse that since they are discontinuing the program, the law of no expiration date does not apply. In fact, the certificate will now expire on the expiration date stated on the certificate. Might want to give Carnival a call on this so you don't get caught holding a worthless piece of paper.

  11. Not all the bars on Medano Beach are party bars. Along with Downsized's recommendation of Tabasco's, there is also the Medano Beach Club and right next door to it, The Sand Bar. Both are very mello and tend to be frequented by locals. I was just at Medano Beach Club this morning and there were several families there.

  12. I guess we are spoiled by the Caribbean waters in Mexico because we NEVER do a water excursion in PV or Cabo. The Pacific water is just too cold for us and we live in southern California.

The water in the Sea of Cortez, which is the only swimmable beach in Cabo is currently 84 degrees. Swimming is not allowed on the Pacific side of Cabo.

  13. ** Carnival pre - reserves the entire pirate ship and you can not book this excursion independently if you are in Vallarta as a cruise ship passenger.

Is this a fact? I called pirate ship vallarta just for info, and they didn't mention that at all!!!

Yes, it is a fact, and we've heard rumors of people showing up and finding they have been cancelled once the cruise lines compare the list with the vendor. You get your money back, but you have disappointed family members.

  14. In Cabo, a family friendly restaurant to hang on Medano Beach is the Medano Beach Club. It's also where the locals hang and on Sunday's, there are several Mexican families there with their children. It's nice and mello without all the stuff that goes on at those party places.

They will set you up with loungers so that the kids can frolic in the water and be within you eyesight. The water will still be warm, enjoy.
