Merry Christmas to those on this thread who have restored my faith in humanity. Wishing you and your families a joyful 2018.
In fact, since I’m feeling generous, I extend the same sentiment to all of you. May the magic of the season grow your hearts by three sizes so that those of you who do not yet value the shining stars who make cruising wonderful learn to appreciate them.

I can’t atop thinking about you and your loved ones. We who are anticipating a joyful Christmas have just received the ultimate reminder of how very fortunate we are. May we draw on your fine example of grace and dignity amidst unspeakable grief to do good in our communities and in the world in 2018.
My sincere condolences, Sam.

When one is demonstrating one’s utter lack of a moral compass, I don’t think it’s too much to ask that one at least express oneself correctly. My conscience is clear.

Principle.
Fares.
No, it’s definitely not rocket science. It’s just doing the right thing, which seems to have gone out of style, along with spelling and grammar.

Actually, you mean «*once in a while the wealthy cruiser pulls one over on the crew, yet demands the same level of marvellous service.*» I truly pity them for having to serve some of you.

As a person who can walk, but who has multiple disabilities, I have always found that I receive far more assistance by quietly asking for help on site than by making accessibility someone else’s problem. I hate asking, but I have met many kind people that way.
My mother and aunt tried out their new scooters - which can either be pushed like a shopping cart or sat in like a wheelchair - in New York City, a city once known for its unfriendliness. People rushed over to help them without delay, even carrying the (empty!) scooters down entire flights of stairs. They raved about NYC for months after our very successful trip.

Should be increased by $10 per day, not just $1.

But posting it here doesn’t solve the problem for future cruisers. Nor does it send a message that the behaviour should not be tolerated. Please take 30 seconds and write the note.

Do NOT let this go. That is unacceptable behaviour.

Wonderful! If this is your family, have a wonderful cruise, a Merry Christmas and a joyful 2018!

Explain that to the Cruise Critic member who lost loved ones on that bus. I’m not engaging with you on this.

The only acceptable response is to express condolences for the loss of the deceased, the injuries of the survivors, and the grief and shock of the families.

Oh, Lord. Time for me to exit this thread. It’s affecting my blood pressure.

How many of you have seen the long lines of pax at Guest Services on any cruise line immediately after embarkation? Those are the people who have found (or invented) an unacceptable problem which entitles them (because really, it’s all about them) to steal from the very people who make cruising so special - and those people’s children and elderly loved ones.
This attitude has been encouraged by the notion that «*the customer is always right*». Sometimes, the customer is a sanctimonious jerk who should stay home and inflict his or her misery on someone else.

My one and only bad experience in the water also occurred in Nassau. All I remember is rolling and rolling as the ocean pitched and tossed me, then coughing up a storm when finally pulled out. I have not ventured into the ocean since. Fortunately, there was no time to panic (the whole thing lasted minutes, if not seconds) and I have continued my lifelong love affair with the sea. But now I have a healthy respect for her [emoji4]

Funny how the story ALWAYS changes after questions are asked.
G.M.T., my condolences [emoji23]

I am SO sorry that happened to you.
Did you use profanity in your review? That might be the culprit.

Thank you to others on this thread for defending the marvellous crew against the implication that they stole the item.

And someone will argue that “strongly recommend” does not mean it’s absolutely necessary [emoji849]
My sister and her husband are happily married. She was asked for the letter at Customs driving back from the ship. They made her go get it in the trunk of her car. They were looking for escaped criminals, both of whom were male. There was no male in our party of four adults and two children.

It would help to know what the item was. Even so, the most you could receive, even if you sued the cruiseline (some fools do) would be its replacement cost at its current depreciated value - not the cost of a brand-new item.

I like almost nothing about organized religion, but I like the practice of placing a Bible in my room. God only knows how many people have ended their lives while away from loved ones and their support system. For those who would be comforted by Scripture, it is indeed an emergency item.
Cruise ships are a different kettle of fish, but it causes me no harm to have a Bible or Quran or other holy text on hand for those who need it.

Eliminate the endless flying time, and I’d be there tomorrow...

Ripped jeans do not look nice, well-groomed or put together. They look like a cry for attention. And then when the person receives the negative attention they are so desperate to obtain, they scream bloody murder.
It’s all so very tiresome.
