  1. Is there not a group chatting or messenger app like on Royal or NCL?
  2. Surely at least one eye must be on being able to homeport for a ship larger than fred olsen. Without homeporting and the benefits that brings for the city as a whole I don't really see the point to it. Could they do two ships a day regularly?
  3. You guys got treated to a show last night. Craig Charles DJing you out to fireworks after him DJing with the royal liverpool philarmonic playing with him. Incredible. I will remember last night for the rest of my life. I work close by and I am so glad I went I wasn't gonna go but I changed my mind during the day I think my sailway on QM2 out of Brooklyn even for the 400th TA is gonna suck by comparison.
  4. If enough ports decide to "ban" at least the really large cruise ships then Royal and MSC will be forced into bankruptcy given they would have x number of ships they could not homeport nor sell and would be forced to scrap at a loss of countless billions I am sure. A situation which if that happens begs the question of why further develop southampton if that development is to house the really large ships which in that possible future are heading for the scrap heap? And I don't tell me Southampton council hasn't thought about closing the terminal down because they have and they are under pressure to do so.
  5. Cunard not withstanding. If it is not the aim of Liverpool city council or relevant title to transform that cruise terminal into a home porting facility with the benefits to the city that that would bring then what is the point of the development? They can fit the Celeb Apex and MSC Virtousa as is it.
  6. I am from Ormskirk getting in to the city is not that bad. I am sure they can get the capacity. I am sure Olsen's suppliers can supply larger ships if they had to? If the port isn't aiming to be a homeport for something beyond Fred Olsen then what is the point of it? They get more and bigger ships than any other port outside of southampton with the exception of the scottish islands. But if the plan is not for a home base then what's the point?
  7. But for the American passengers they can get pretty much anywhere from Heathrow. Not so much from manchester.
  8. I disagree with that to a certain extent. Great transport links for supply and a lot of large warehouse supply type firms in the area. Fred Olsen homeport in Liverpool so supplies wouldn't really be an issue would they?
  9. So are those sailings majority german? Or it is still the majority mix of brits/americans? I have never been on one. And I can't believe it is only 45 miles difference from Liverpool/Southampton. Here is an interesting questions lets assume this new cruise terminal is built. Do we think Liverpool could complete and even beat Southampton on the port charges and taxes and things they have to pay? Who knows.
  10. We are brits they are germans? Sailing from Liverpool would save them fuel and money in the long run wouldn't it? Why do they sail out of Hamburg? Is there history in Hamburg for Cunard? Sail out would be a lot better given that the atmosphere liverpool can make FWIW it's 45 nautical miles less from Liverpool. I googled it. I thought it would be more because ship goes round cornwall
  11. T/As from liverpool would save half a day on fuel wouldn't the more or less still 7 nights 6 days but less distance slower speed less fuel use? Which over time - not sure how much time - would amount to a free T/A for cunard in terms of fuel use?
  12. I think you misunderstand me. The first port of call for thes sailing was liverpool then Iceland then Halifax then New York. It didn't home port from Liverpool. Me and my dad never went one it and he would have to sailed out of Liverpool on Cunard. They haven't bought that trip back since Covid
  13. They did in 2018 and 2019 one T/A Southampton/Liverpool,reykjavik and New York. But only once and not for the last few years. Maybe that route didn't take.
  14. Cunard will never homeport for one reason. Most of the flights for the U.S are from heathrow and half the passengers are american. Even though each Transatlantic from Liverpool might save half a day of fuel
  15. They got a treat last night with that sail away party with Craig Charles DJing them out to the fireworks. Charles DJ'd with the liverpool philarmonic orchestra. I have never seen anything like that before in my life.
  16. How many people do Cunard reckon are coming down for this on Monday? Anyone have any ideas?
  17. I am 94 days out from the cruise on August 23rd. I can complete the check in info which I have not done yet. Would the boarding times be assigned after this completion?
  18. And also you cannot be arrested or detained or hours or days you are simply refused and walk out of the airport. Like I said the irish don't have a choice nor would the want one perhaps. I can see people choosing to do it but not people flying to avoid it.
  19. It actually is at least for people outside Ireland. People transitting through Dublin from UK or elsewhere in Europe to connect to USA have made the choice to be on that flight and do it that way.
  20. Did they help you. Where they calling people forward based upon the flight they where trying to catch? Like at the airport when your in the check in line and they call out a flight and ask if anyone is waiting.
  21. Booked on for 2025 carribean added on 2 days in NYC so flying out of Dublin. I know it's a while away yet but I am just thinking about the preclearance at Dublin. How have people found it? Thanks
  22. I am doing this soon and I am losing sleep over it.I have been reading the dublin airport depature board online. How did you find the experience? How long after clearing the irish passport control did you go the preclearance? How many security checkpoints did you go through to get to the immigration desk. I have wheelchair assistance booked I am just worried about the timing of all this 9am landing preclearance seems to open at 11am for the 1.15pm EWR flights. Sorry for all the questions thanks in advance.
  23. I think you mean Hati didn't you? Temps are in the mid 30s in Lagos at least right now. And the nearest embassy hundreds of miles away.
  24. To be fair NCL left them in a very dangerous place off the cost of Nigeria wasn't it? Leaving someone behind in Africa is not the same as leaving them in Spain or Iceland or whatever. Particulary Americans, Brits or Australians.
