Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. So doesn't really seem like it's worth waiting for $100. Thanks for the info.
  2. Could someone please share any benefits you received when you booked a future cruise on board recently? I will be sailing in March and am considering a June Northern Europe cruise. Wondering if it is worth waiting until I'm onboard to book. The risk of waiting is that the flight prices could increase dramatically. The Northern Europe cruise does not have Yacht club, so I would be looking at a solo balcony. Any ideas where to find prices for excursions prior to booking? I'm a bit nervous that the Northern Europe ports will be $$$.
  3. I have seen someone in the Yacht Club that had too much to drink, arguing with another person that also had too much to drink about some American sports team. I also saw some other people that were wearing very very casual clothes. Money doesn't buy class.
  4. What do you usually ask for? I can't think of anything I would like beyond the room service breakfast card a few times.
  5. Anyone have experience asking for something that's not on the menu for dinner? I think one of my teens will look at that menu and sadly not want to eat much. He would much prefer the main buffet with burgers and pizza. I would prefer that he eat with his family! I assume there is a kid's menu, but he would likely need to eat 4 kid's plates to fill up. Will they make him a burger? (Quite possibly for 7 nights straight 🙄).
  6. Also be careful if it is in USD or CAD. Sometimes Air Canada defaults to USD even though I am in Canada. Maybe I am picking the first link when I search and it might be the US site, I'm not certain.
  7. I believe this is a new route for MSC Seaside. I am going in March but only on a 7 day journey starting in Martinique. The excursion choices from MSC seem uninspired. I'm not sure if I am too late and missed all the good ones, or if there are no good ones. Guadeloupe seems to get poor reviews - not even walking around the port area seems like a good idea. St. Maarten - I think we will take the water taxi to the last stop and then meander our way back to the ship. Maybe go swimming? It looks like a pretty safe place to "wing it". Antigua - maybe a snorkel tour? St. Kitt's - seems like all the tours are relatively the same, can't decide what provider would be better. Or should we just hire a cab for a few hours? Dominica - Champagne beach seems interesting, but maybe only for an hour or so. We also already have our own snorkel equipment. I have looked in the ports section of the boards, and these ports definitely don't seem as popular (except St. Maarten). Hoping someone that has been there recently can offer some advice.
  8. Wow. A lot of people have really misinterpreted my question. In no way was I going to let my teens wear ripped up clothes or look disgraceful in the restaurant. I was hoping to get an idea of what was acceptable that might get worn again. Ie dressy shorts and a polo shirt. Thank you to those that were understanding and offered ideas of what was appropriate so we can be prepared.
  9. Seems a bit harsh. I let my children wear what they like which is what most teens wear. It is inappropriate clothing for a nice restaurant (just like my comfy gym gear). However, I am hoping to minimize the amount of money that is wasted to buy them clothes they will never wear again. There are no uniforms at schools in our area and all the teens wear the same ripped up baggy style clothes. It's also not my practice to buy something and use it once. I can find clothes for them to wear, I was simply hoping to find out what I could buy that would fit the criteria of the restaurant and still reflect their personality.
  10. My teens live in oversized t-shirts, basketball shorts, flip flops and jeans/ jean shorts with more holes in them than actual material. I'm not interested in buying them an entirely new wardrobe to wear for dinner each night. I'm assuming the usual clothing they wear will be fine for the theatre and the pool deck. What can they wear for the restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner? I was thinking a pair of cotton docker type pants, a golf/polo shirt and black (not flashy) athletic shoes should be okay for supper. Would a pair of golf shorts be acceptable (ie nearly knee length, grey/navy/black material)? I don't want them to look like slobs, but also know that the clothing will go unworn the moment we return from the cruise and will likely not fit for the next cruise. Any pro tips?
  11. I am still waiting for port fees and taxes to be refunded from March 2020 cruise that I cancelled last minute when COVID broke. It's been an ongoing battle and unfortunately, probably won't sail again with MSC for a long long time after I go on my FCC cruise in the fall.
