  1. I fly thru Detroit a lot. 50 minutes is ok. You will be flying in summer so weather should not be a major concern. If you are on Delta most likely you will fly into terminal A; but you could go to MSP in Terminal B/C. You take a underground moving walkway to get from A-B. If you only have hand luggage you should make it

I just booked a cheaper flex flight for 430$. From Toronto to Vancouver, - Seattle - Fairbanks. The layover in Vancouver - Seattle is 50 minutes. I arrive in

  2. I'm originally from Michigan and fly in and out of Detroit on a regular basis to visit family. While 50 minutes is a little tight, it is doable. DTW is a huge airport, but they have a shuttle that runs between the McCarran terminals, if your next flight is in a different terminal. The only negative might be any checked luggage. Hopefully, it would make the next flight. Hope you have a wonderful vacation next year!

Thanks. I haven't booked it yet. I heard it is never good to book a flight with a less then an hour and a half layover. That was another concern, if I have to pick up my luggage or will it be sent all the way to my final destination

  3. hi,

I'm from Toronto, going to Fairbanks Alaska next summer. Looking at the flexible fare options and there's one flight that goes from Toronto - Detroit. Then a 50 minute layover. Then from detroit to Minneapolis. A 2 hour and 54 layover there. Then to Fairbanks. My concern is, is the 50 minute layover to risky? This flight is $628.77 I dunno is that a good price?

  4. The flexible fares come and go, but mostly go the closer you get to the sail date. The wonderful thing about the flex fares is you can get price reductions up until final payment date. It's so simple! Just have your TA call and get the new fare. You'll get a new Locater #, but that's all that changes besides the better price. :)

Thanks a lot. That's what I wanted to know. This process is very exciting :)

  5. We have found eventually as flights sell and the cruise nears the "flexible" option goes away. ;)

If you are 45 days or more out best to grab the flights as flexible then you can cancel or change without penalty.

Thanks Keith. Will book today as soon as I see a good option then

  6. The available flex flights are probably the only thing you will see unless people with other flights decide to cancel at a later date and those seats become available. I would suggest picking the best available flex flight now, and keep checking back at least a couple of times a week to see if a better option becomes available and changing if it does. You have until 45 days before the cruise, but you will need to make payment earlier at 75 days prior.

Ok thanks Cherylandtk, ya I only found like 3 flex flights, and the rest were restricted flight option

  7. Hello,

I am booked on an Alaska crusie tour for next July 27, 2018. I am looking at the eZair flights on my cruise personalizer. I would prefer to choose flexible fare over restricted. Don't see many flexible options. Will there be more? Do you guys suggest I book my flights right away? Or can this wait?

  8. Once you get off the cruise ship right at Canada Place they have a free shuttle that goes to Capilano Suspension Bridge, not too sure how often they run but I would imagine their website would say. Not sure what you would do with your luggage or if they can take it. Trying emailing Capilano Suspension Bridge, doubt your the only one that would be getting off a cruise ship wanting to go on the shuttle. They bring you back to Canada Place then the sky train is 2 blocks away which takes you right to the airport.

Exactly regarding my luggage. With the other tour your luggage stays on the motorcoach and you get dropped off at the airport at the end. They also put at the bottom of the page that the excursion is for people who have a flight departing after 4pm

  9. So my Alaska cruise next summer is ending in Vancouver, I just was on the princess website looking at the excursions they have to offer. I really want to experience the Capilano Suspension Bridge. When I saw they have this tour I was thrilled. But then read that it is only offered as a crusie port excursions and not for disembarking. They do offer one where instead of the Capilano, you tour the city, then they take you to Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge, go for a nature walk, then drop you off at the airport. I might consider this if they don't offer the Capilano. But does anyone know if they do?

  10. I'm still with Keith on this one, especially if passenger is already checked in and has no baggage and goes right to CBP. If among first off, will be at YVR plenty early and it is efficient airport.

For the poster who mentioned international, flying between Canada and USA is not considered "international" in the sense you are thinking. Because of the high frequency and volume of travel between our two countries, there is special dedicated US pre-clearance in all major Canadian airports. It's about as close to flying domestic as you can get. And flying from US to Canada is exactly like domestic as no customs involved in the US departure airport. Canadian flights are mixed in the gates with US flights and you clear customs in Canada.

If you really want a more detailed answer, then mention your airline and what the baggage situation will be. Does your airline have kiosk check-in where you self-serve? Are you going right to security with your bags? All bags go through US CBP first and then anything checked is dropped on the belt and then you go through CATSA (Cdn TSA). You should also provide day of week flying as that affects amount of cross-border traffic.

Right. It is a domestic flight. I'm flying from Vancouver to Toronto. Ya I'm considering taking a later fight at night so I can do the capilano suspension bridge. That is something I think I would hate to miss. When I was on my Norwegian cruise last July they gave us the declaration card to fill out on the ship so I didn't go through customs. Just checked in on the kiosk and boarded the plane. So I'll only have 1 luggage with me so would there be a place to lock my luggage at the Vancouver airport before I do my Vancouver tour?

  11. Whatever flight you pick make sure you enter it/information in the "provide independent air" travel arrangements section in your booking on the personalizer. It helps staff onboard with assigning disembarkation times.

Go to the passenger services desk during your cruise to make sure you get the early group.

Oh okay thanks Keith. And Steelers, I do not have a NEXUS card, will this create a profile for catching that 11:10am flight ?

  12. Agree. Especially if you have certified customs screening like NEXUS or GLOBAL ENTRY.

You just request the early walk-off when you fill out a debarkation form on the ship (it's left in your cabin about 1/2 way through the cruise and kind of depressing - lol)... indicate you have the early flight.

Okay thanks! And oh my gosh is it ever depressing! The second last day of the cruise I always feel it :( lol

  13. Can I choose to be in the first self walk off group? Oh I didn't book the flight yet. I just found it and it's insanely cheap. Including my flight from home to Fairbanks, Alaska. It's 430 bucks. So cheap!!

Sorry. My mistake it's not 430. It's 715 bucks. Still a good price though

  14. If you do the first self walk off group with your luggage that should be ok.

Take a cab. Its about 25 minutes.

I would leave your flight alone.

  15. Hello, I will be going on my first cruise with Princess, very excited! I've never been in princess before. How long does it take to get off the boat on the last day of the cruise? My cruise ends at Vancouver, it arrives there at 7:30am. I found a return flight home departing Vancouver at 11:10pm. Would I make it or should I get a later flight? If so, what time does anyone suggest?

    Thanks in advance

    JP

  16. Last time I was on Princess, I had anytime dining. I was put at a large table with couples and singles. Almost every night after I ate with some of that group. The maitre'd really did a good job for me.

Excellent. Great to hear. I'm extremely excited for this cruise!

  17. I'm in a roll call for a February 2, 2019 cruise. The roll call for our upcoming October 8 cruise was started May 12, 2016. The roll call for our March 18, 2018 cruise was started May 19, 2016. It is definitely not too soon to start one for your cruise. ;)

Thanks Thrak! Just started a roll call ;) we shall see what happens

  18. When we sailed with NCL my husband and I wanted to dine with others also and were only ever given the option of sitting at a two top. One evening we were seated close enough to another table (who also were conversational) and it was almost like sharing a table. Perhaps as part of their My Time Dining they no longer seat mixed parties.

    Ya, makes sense

  19. I was solo on the Grand Princess (15 nights) in April to Hawaii and had anytime dining. When I went to the dining room, I was always asked by the hostess if I would like to share a table and was seated at a table for 8 with others. I preferred this to traditional dining as I wanted the flexibility to dine at different times based upon the days activities. I enjoyed dining with and chatting with different people each evening. There are no 'singles' tables, although there were two solo travelers luncheons offered on my cruise (I went to one). I was very comfortable on Princess as a solo and have booked another cruise for 2018.

That's excellent to hear. Ya that's why I chose anytime dining. Ya I didn't mean to say "singles table" lol. Okay that's exactly what I'll do. Ask to sit with a big table with other people. I just came back from my first solo cruise with Norwegian to Alaska. It was Best vacation of my life. The only

Thing was I I did ask if I can sit with others. But they always put me at a small table by myself :S

  20. With ATD, you will be asked if you want to be seated with others. It's an option to meet others.

Absolutely. I just don't want the set time dining option because I want to spend as much time as I can in the ports

  21. No set time for Anytime Dining and just tell the Head Waiter share a table and you will not be dining alone. You will also get to meet many interesting people.

Thanks. Just cuz I went on a solo cruise last month with Norwegian. Best vacation of my entire life. The only only thing I found was the one time I ate dinner alone. It sucked for me lol.

  22. Hello, I will be travelling solo next summer on the Golden Princess.

I don't want to eat dinners alone and I chose the "anytime dining option"

Do any of you know if I can request to sit with a singles table? Or do I have to choose the "set time" dining option?

    Thanks
