  1. That was a big oops. He wasn’t meant to be in the one I posted. Too late😂
  2. It’s so beautiful in that region. I’ll look for something. Just watching Dolomite young man Jannik Sinner demolishing Novak! At least at the moment.
  3. It’s the story of ages: create a demand, and they will pay.
  4. Our GP kindly prints a letter each for us with a list of our meds, which are minimal anyway, and we carry extra scripts if we’re travelling for a long period. They go in our travel folder with copies of our passports, vax certs, etc. We’ve never been asked for verification of meds, but I always think Murphy’s law would prevail without the proof.
  5. It's a regular scene at our golf club: people standing outside the main doors madly pressing their automatic car openers to see which car lights respond in the carpark.
  6. Wha a wonderful description and photo. The tickets are not cheap, quite expensive really, but as you say, worth every cent (we used to say "penny" but it seems odd after almost sixty years of decimal currency). Phillip Island is quite exposed, and each time we've been there, the wind blowing off the Southern Ocean has been bitterly cold. Rug up, Lynn and Lyle; it doesn't hurt to be prepared. As a motoring enthusiast, Lyle, you may be aware that there is a high-speed circuit facility on the island. Our family all gave Mario a "BMW experience" for a special birthday a few years ago. I dropped him off at the circuit and then filled in my day in Cowes (the main town). When I returned to collect him, my heart was in my mouth as I watched a convoy of beemers whizzing around the track at what seemed F1 speeds. He's still raving about it. I think you two will have a lot in common to discuss. We once visited the Ferrari headquarters in Italy. After touring the museum, I left him to it. He spent forever on the observation post just watching the F1s being put through their paces. I enjoyed my book😉
  7. Apparently locals avoid swimming at this beach. It’s not patrolled and dangerous. Tragically, reportedly a rip claimed these people. On a beach, green does not mean “go”.
  8. No Mic, three dead and one in hospital fighting for life.
  9. Just watching the evening news. Sadly, 3 people have drowned on Phillip Island.
  10. Excuse typos but I think you can read the message 😉
  11. Is that when you ate at Sandbar? It’s been clised for a while, sadly. Les said there’d been a fire (I think it was Les who told ys). I hope David re-opens soon. He’s a treasure who produces miracles.
  12. Yes, it does, but some accommodation in Lakes Entrance is priced on the high side. Orbost seems to have more of the sort of offering you'd be seeking for an overnight stop: comfortable, clean, and with a restaurant attached or nearby. Metung is indeed extremely beautiful.
  13. Yes, I stand corrected, Leigh. I was thinking of Metung. We've stayed at both so I shouldn't be confused. Probably more accommodation to choose from in Orbost.
  14. Hi Lyle, You will need a sleepover between Batemans Bay and Phillip Island; it's about 10 hrs without hitches, so too draining when you aren't familiar with conditions (and opposite side driving). Lakes Entrance, just under 5-1/2 hrs from BBay is a region of natural beauty, but is a little way off the main route you'll be taking, and your mission is to get to Phillip I. Orbost, a sizeable town on your route, is just over 4-1/2 hours, so a little under halfway. There is a range of reasonably-priced motels and hotels in Orbost. If you had the time, Eden is a wonderful stop: rich in history of the whaling industry and natural beauty. Sadly, if you desire only one stopover, it wouldn't be far enough along, and next day's trek to Phillip I would be too long. So, 1 stopover: Orbost. 2 stopovers: Eden, Lakes Entrance. Only my suggestions, and I'm sure others will have more advice for you.
  15. That’s a slightly different plan to the one I was referring to, which is not a “daily roaming plan”, but rather an upgrade option you can take for a specified period. It certainly doesn’t default to a repeat, all I needed to do was switch on Flight Mode and the $10 did not continue for the next day. Once though, whilst distracted, I was a few minutes over the precise 24hrs, and yes, logged another $10 for another day. Not to waste an opportunity for a natter, I rang as many family members and friends as possible, and spent most of the day on the phone. Strangely, Mario was not surprised.
