We did Brisbane to Houston in economy. Not ideal, but bearable and we very quickly recovered in a good hotel with minimum jet lag. We tried to time sleeping on the plane to Houston local time and it seemed to work. With delays and plane changes we were 27 hours start to finish. 😒

You can buy gummy bears in the chemist over there.
A Marriott bed and mister gummy . Jet lag just drifts away.

The Spring one (08-Apr-24) was released Wednesday, 09-Nov-22 (I know, because I booked it the day it was released)

The 07-Oct-23 PC cruise Roll Call thread was created 09-Mar-22 by someone that booked it the previous day. My guess is that it was released on the 8th or shortly before.

Right now, I believe some releases are delayed as they are somewhat busy rescheduling the UWC around Africa instead of going through the Suez canal.

    So about 6-7 months before.

Could someone please help me out with a question?  Rest assured this is not a school home work question (like train "A" vs train "B")

    1.  A flight from the USA leaves Texas at 10PM on a Friday, and the flight lands in Sydney on Sunday morning at 730AM.

The flight is listed as having an "in air" time of 17 hours.  Springtime in northern hemisphere

Will most of the flight time be in darkness?  I'm thinking the answer is yes, since it's dark in Texas when leaving and the night would follow the flight eventually overtaking it before landing.  Guessing the flight crew will start getting everyone awake by about 5am (Sydney time) to serve breakfast and it will just be getting light outside, so about 3 hours of outside visibility?  Trying to decide if a window seat is of any importance.

     2.  Anyone done this trip are economy seats OK for old people or is premium economy or if at all affordable business class a must?

    Your thoughts and experience please.

    Thanks

It’s an extended night flight and economy is ok ,save the money for a better hotel.

When you arrive you may have to wait until the afternoon to get your room.
A better hotel will give you somewhere to have a shower and freshen up if they haven’t got a room.Plus they will hold your bags until check in.

Or you can book the night before but I don’t think that’s necessary.Freshen up , a bit of a walk and your room should be ready .

thanks - we've been to Sydney a couple of times before and have seen places like Harbour Bridge, Opera House and Botanical gardens.... but can check what excursions are on offer from Princess

We did look at Bounce? I think it was and I sent them an enquiry asking if they were open Boxing day and didn't heard back

    There’s a bus to Burwood Westfield from the airport,it’s the 420 .

I think you might be a bit early to check your bags.

I would drop my bags at Central station or somewhere and have a look around.

So where did you find these bagels? Which venue?

Windjammers have them but I used to get them in the Diamond lounge with Salmon.

Last season , couldn’t find smoked salmon in the buffet .So I got a fresh steak and egg cooked. Steak, egg ,cheese with some ketchup Bagel is pretty good but don’t expect to be doing much later.

Im pretty sure the dining room would do a off menu LOX for you.

It's hard to eat those as someone from New York, but I understand these are considered bagels in most places. The lox is also sometimes okay and sometimes not so good.

The bagels are pretty average but most of the bread is pretty average . It’s one thing Royal doesn’t do very well is bread products.

Completely underwhelmed with the itineraries on offer for Voyager when she kicks of her Brisbane season, so a big no from us, but have booked the 3 legs from Rome to Brisbane, including a 7 night Croatia cruise beforehand. When Explorer left Australia in 2019 we only cruised as far as Dubai and always regretted not going through the Suez, so here is the opportunity. We've never cruised in these waters, or the Mediterranean so are really keen. Many cruise critic members have experience in these areas, and all comments sought. Too early for any roll-calls yet, but the other social media outlet is up and running. We'll be doing the ports on this cruise on the smell of an oil rag, so any tips from fellow parsimonious passengers would be great.  I gather the Singapore to Sydney leg is attracting a lot of interest.

That cruise is filling up ,only a few junior suites left and standard cabins look well over half sold.

It was only released last week .

I take groups worldwide and advise all my clients to choose a different cruise as I feel Dubai wilk be closed to cruiselines also because of attack on commercial ship. I could be completely wrong,  but I have been in this business white a while and seen this many times before.  Dubai will be another hot sppt

There was a ship hijacked just the other day.

Absolutely. And they can change course at very short notice with no disruption to passengers if the situation requires it.

Interesting that Cunard have already decided to divert QM2’s 2025 world cruise around Africa instead of through Suez. That’s a whole year away. They clearly aren’t optimistic about the situation improving so anyone who’s booked on the Voyager Rome to Dubai repo in 18 months would be wise to have a Plan B.

Plan A which looks like a fizzer .Plan B which I’m not real confident in and now working on Plan C .

Provisions would be an issue for Royal,I don’t think they have Fosters in South Africa.
