  1. Some cruise lines include more, some less. Personally, I like what Oceania does. Because they didn't want to deal with mid cruise testing they changed the itinerary so that they were in Bermuda when 2 other ships were there so they had to anchor in the bay and run tenders.

Those are my thoughts. Just need to be on the dock before 10AM. Celebrity has not informed us exactly when they will be moving the ship, I am hoping it is not 9AM on the Sunday.
  3. It is not necessarily the exception. I know someone who was vaccinated and not boosted and had a very bad case. It just depends on the specific person and that person's specific susceptibility. They don't have a DNA test yet that tell you in advance.

When we are there 3 ships (about 8,000) will be in port on a Sunday. Are the chances of getting a mini-bus good or am I better off just paying the outrageous ($40 per person) ship excursion fee?
  5. Were they willing to do without proof since it was a transfer to a new cruise and not an outright refund?
  6. They will also pour from a can or bottle if it is at a bar and not one on the spigot.
  7. Celebrity has a 10 day policy, not 14. Just get a PCR test (more sensitive) and it will probably turn up positive. FYI, while larger cities will have more then one lithotripsy location they tend to book up in advance unless the doctor thinks it is an urgent/emergency situation. And Monday is memorial day.
  8. I unfortunately have had kidney stones. Probability of traveling next week near 10% based on what you said. You could use Cruise with Confidence to get an FCC if it applies to your situation. Otherwise you need to have a doctor check out your husband and be willing to sign a document that says he is unfit to travel if you want to get money from the Travel Insurance Company. I assume EVERYONE in the party has travel insurance.
  9. Then you haven't had really bad brewed coffee. It can be terrible.
  10. I was wondering how the food quality has been post COVID? I was on an Oceania cruise pre-COVID and thought the food was good however I wonder if it has gone downhill. The reason I ask is that some other cruise lines (eg, Royal) seem to be having intermittent quality problems.
  11. Usually, you can cancel just your own soda package in cruise planner. It is a pain in the neck however you could call and make sure they just cancel yours.
  12. 100% agree. See a doctor ASAP. The doctor needs to sign a form saying you are unfit for travel or the travel insurance people will not pay. Also, as others have said get a COVID PCR test.
  13. Absolutely test wifi calling on land before the cruise. That way you can work out any bugs without having to worry if the problem is with the ship's internet.
  14. At some point you DO need to cancel the soda package.
  15. I will definitely look. Would love to do a Viking cruise.
  16. FYI, the antigen tests have about a 30% false negative rate from what I have read. The PCR tests are much more accurate. If we test positive before our upcoming cruise will just take the money and do a land vacation.
  17. There are two excursions that I would like to book in the same day. They are 90 minutes apart and I just want to make sure that is sufficient time just in case the first excursion runs a little late.
  18. Empress of the seas but it was sold.
  19. Been there twice, once by cruise and once driving. I think it is a walking town, however I walk a lot. In a city like Charleston if you don't walk you miss a lot. There is a lot to see. Some of the historic houses offer tours, I think these can be booked in advance. I would recommend at least one house tour. I would do a general internet search for walking tours of Charleston. You can do a self-guided one or there are tours that are led (either through the cruise ship or book your own. People also take carriage rides. The food is also very, very good (however I thought it was a little salty). The restaurants do get busy, reservations are highly suggested and should be made well in advance. FYI, the NPS does a boat ride to Fort Sumter, I've done it. Unless you are a really big fan of civil war era forts not sure it is worth it given you will probably have time constraints. This can be booked in advance. The historic city market is worth a walk through and near where the ships doc. There is also a more upscale shopping street. Also, nice to see is the pineapple fountain in the waterfront park.
  20. The refreshment package is only worth it if you fully use it. If you are only looking for water you can pre-order a case of water that they will put in your room on embarkation day. Not sure if they are switching over to cans from plastic bottles.
  21. sometimes they use 2 punches for a double expresso, I think it depends on the person manning the register. Also, the 50% off refers to the regular coffee that they will charge for (not in the dinning rooms but at the Barrister).
  22. It is not in the cruise planner however the app shows there is a Chef's Table option for nights 1 and 2. Any idea if this might be real or if the app just has a problem? Also, the menu looks interesting, is the food usually good?
