Wow! That is the tour we are booked on! Can't wait! My only question is: Did you get to keep the Lanyard and Badge? That would be awesome!
Glad you made it home and seem to be recuperating well. Hang in there! You will be back in January!

I will dream tonight of Pygmy tables, Tom-Toms and KH pillows while riding a black stallion in a Magic Forest with Faceless people. Hopefully, Gloom, Doom and Bloom will not be there!!😉
Marilyn, I just have to tell you that is probably the best and funniest comment you have made here! I am really glad I did not have a mouth full of coffee when I read it, because my computer surely would have suffered!
You are amazing, and I know for sure I will miss your daily commentary and photos of new discoveries on the amazing Edge! I remember that you said you had more to post, so I will enjoy that, too.
I hope you had a safe and uneventful journey homeward once you got a flight that actually left FLL, and that things are in order and unscathed at your home. I am sure your pup missed you both and was very glad to see you! Speaking, of pup, what ever happened to Lloyd's puppy? I know you found Mr. EDge, and the new and improved penguin, but what happened to the puppy? I bet they left him in France because he didn't have his passport. Poor puppy.
Thank you again for everything! See you in person in January!

I think it would be wrong for X to stop foot traffic where the Cabanas are located. It is a path to go from one end to the other. X didn't think this one very well because the area is not private or can't be made private like the alcoves on the S class.
What is wrong is having that foot traffic routed right through the center of the Cabanas. The cabanas should be along the outer wall, with the path between them and the pool area. Then they could have curtains and block the cabanas off for privacy when in use. Seems pretty obvious.

Yes, but the Nieuw Amsterdam is now smoke free after dry dock. Since early 2018. So the guidelines haven't been updated. There's still hope, perhaps?
I understand what you are saying, and it is ridiculous that HAL has not updated their Smoking Policy on their own website FAQ's!
But, as they say, there's always hope!

That does not 'Crown' her as The Queen of The Edge, which makes her one of your Attendants!
bon voyage
Bo, you are right! They gave the prize to the wrong person. We have our Queen of the Edge, and we will not let them take the honor away from her, regardless of Zenith or whatever. We know who is our leader!

Here’s a few pics. I’ve taken a ton so far. One difference I see between this ship and the K-Dam is up in the Crows Nest. The bar doubles as the coffee bar. The nice loungers along the front window are very different. There’s more of them and they are quite comfy. Also, on the port side is an openish room that looks like it will be used for EXC talks or other lectures. Looks like it sits about 60-75 people.
There also seems to be more quiet seating areas and more books in their library. I think it’s a nice compromise. Like maybe Corporate heard us.
Thank you, Sherita! What great photos! Do you have one of the bar/coffee bar you mentioned? I am wondering how well that will work out, but maybe the two libations are more popular at different times of the day for the most part, and it will not cause problems. Anyone who finds out more about that, please let us know!
Meanwhile,
Bon Voyage! And Thank You!

So we know for sure that they will allow smoking in the Nieuw Statendam casino?
There was quite a large discussion about that on another thread before NS even sailed, and most people who posted were really against the brand new ship allowing smoking indoors at all.

From the HAL website:
"Sea View (Retreat) Bar/Pool on starboard side only. On Prinsendam, Koningsdam, and Nieuw Statendam, smoking is allowed on the port side only.
- Sun Bar on Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam
- Sports Deck forward and aft of Crow’s Nest on starboard side on Maasdam, Veendam, Volendam, Zaandam, Rotterdam and Amsterdam
- Oak Room on Noordam only, including cigar and pipe smoking
- Designated areas for active slot players in Casinos*. Oosterdam and Eurodam casinos are completely non-smoking. Noordam Casino is completely non-smoking, with the exception of two nights per cruise."

Sorry... but I turned the video off in 2 seconds..fast as I could,
Flashed ???? Possible culture diff here in vocabulary but glad you enjoyed it, I think..
Just not our style of Modern Luxury..we like to mellow out not rave out!
That's our one big fear about cruising EDGE.. excessively loud music, flashing lights, general chaos, So far it seems pervasive,...in EDEN, the Martini Bar, the Club,.,etc Wondering if there are any quiet mellow spots for the evening.???
Well, hcat, I agree mostly, but I did watch the entire clip. I was thinking that if I wanted to see the circus I would rent a movie, etc., since Ringling Bros., Barnum & Bailey has shut down. (I didn't go to the circus before it did, either) Just not my thing. So, if you can determine where there might be quiet spaces without loud, raucous music or flashing lights, please let me know and you will probably see me there more than once.

I hope this becomes standard on all HAL ships!
Well, while I agree with your idea, good luck with it happening at HAL. Case in point is the brand new Nieuw Statendam, which will allow smoking in the casino! Before everyone jumps on me for that, yes, I understand that it is only in certain areas. However, I also understand that on the Koningsdam, sister ship of the Nieuw Statendam, the smoke not only permeates throughout other areas of the casino, but also seems to migrate to other venues on the deck below it, via someone's bright idea of putting a circular staircase between the two. Most have said that there seems to be no real need for that staircase, due to the forward elevators and staircases being so close to that area. The consensus is that if they would remove the staircase and close up the floor/ceiling in that area, many, many people would be much happier, and smoke would not enter the music venues below the casino. By the way, there was also mention of the noise from the revelers in the casino disturbing those in the music venues, but I don't believe that seems as objectionable to most as is the smoke. So, unless HAL decides to finally make its casinos smoke free on ALL their ships, as Celebrity is doing, you just won't hear much positive about it.
And, although I will admit that I have not been on the Koningsdam yet, I have sailed more than once on Eurodam, Nieuw Amsterdam, and on Westerdam, Zuiderdam, and Noordam over the years. And, I am going on the Nieuw Statendam in a couple of weeks and Celebrity Edge in January. After those voyages, I will feel better to voice my own opinions about some of the things on this discussion board. Until then, what I have mentioned above is either what I have read on the HAL website, or from comments here on CC by others. If you disagree, fine. If you agree, fine, too. We are all entitled to our opinions. I don't think it is either kind, polite, nice or necessary for anyone to verbally slam anyone else on these boards. If I read something I disagree with, I just move to the next post.
Thank you for reading this, if you did.

Hi Marilyn
I have a message for you!
Valentina asked me to say "Thank you" on her behalf for the chocolates your butler kindly delivered to her. I said you'd be back on the 20th so hopefully the pair of you will actually meet up next time.
I hope you recover fully from your little mishap and have a safe uneventful journey back home.
Regards
Peter
PS and yes, I can't wait to get on the Edge next Sunday
Thanks, Peter, for all your updates, and thanks to Valentina, of course, for keeping you in the loop from her perspective! Have a great trip!
Bon Voyage!

Marilyn, again, THANK YOU! for all your time and effort in bringing the beautiful Edge to life for all of us who were stuck landside. Please promise to wear your Edge hat on January 20, so we can all find you at check-in! Have a great day today in FLL and a safe journey home. Can't wait for January! (Where are you staying the night before that one?) Please tell Henry thanks, too, for being such a trooper and letting you spend all this time posting for all of us. We appreciate it more than you can know.
~Barbara~
P.S. Glad you are on the mend and will be mostly back to normal on your arrival home and back to work. Just tell them you are the ONLY one who has a permanent souvenir from Edge! Personally, I think it is much better than a tattoo.

VT and all you lucky Edgies on your current adventure, thank you for all you have done to make us feel as if we are there with you enjoying that wonderful ship. Please be safe on your journey home, and have wonderful Holidays! To those on the January 20th voyage, see you then!
Bon Voyage!

We received our Sea Passes when we checked in and needed them to board the ship.
Thanks, Oville. Now I am even more confused. Some get them at check-in and some get them onboard? That is very strange. If you don't get them at check-in, how do you get onboard?
-
Thanks! Shows you how well the information is relayed to the phone reps at X. Sad.
Next question is WHY would they leave them out in the corridor for just anyone to pick up? That doesn't seem like a very good idea to me, but what do I know?

Does anyone know if you can use your phone app to access your room while you await contact with your room steward?
Going back to the original comments about receiving your card from your room attendant, I mentioned that to an X rep I was speaking to on the phone today, and he said, no, that the cards are given out at check-in. So, I laughed and said that was not what happened to whoever it was that posted it here on the CC board. (Sorry I forgot who it was, and I am not going to go back to find out) He proceeded to tell me that I should not believe what someone who was not with X says. So, I immediately said thanks and goodbye and hung up! I mean, what the heck was THAT? I know whoever posted it here had it happen for sure! No doubt in my mind. Period. End of discussion. Stupid Rep! He better realize that we Edgies are a close-knit group and that we do not tell untruths here! Whatever.

Just got off the ship and took some pictures of the gorgeous girl in port!!
notice the gangway sign on elevator buttons - got off in Destination Gateway.
Beautiful photos! Love seeing her in the sunshine! She is spectacular!
Interesting about the Destination Gateway use. Was going to ask you if you boarded on that level in PE? Now THAT would be a great entry! Where do you enter from the ramps in T25?
