  1. We’ve done both several times. For a relaxing adult vacation we would choose Celebrity every time. It’s more relaxed, seems a bit “classier.” Definitely better food and service on Celebrity. Also RCL is very mass market appeal. If you’re traveling with a large family group with kids there’s more to do on RCL for that demographic. DH and I think RCI feels like a trip to a large mall, not much emphasis on the ocean and water, while Celebrity is really moving to keeping that ocean connection,.
  2. Thanks everyone for all the valuable information. Because of some of the recommendations in this post - inside passage, longer port times, hopeful refurbish- I just booked on the Eclipse, Vancouver cruise the end of May. Hoping we’ll be cruising.
  3. Agreed. No risk in booking. If they cancel we get a full credit. We are not putting any money out as the cost of the cruise is currently less than our credit and airfare from Florida is incredible right now. Just have to Pick a ship.
  4. Help, trying to decide what to book for May/June 2021. We were booked on Solstice last June so we have a credit. DH is now eyeing the Eclipse instead. We’ve cruised the Solstice in the past but he’s concerned she’s getting old and missed her dry dock. I don’t know anything about the Eclipse, cruising out of Vancouver or that itinerary. Anything you can say about it would be welcome.
  5. We love Aqua and choose to book it for Blu when we can. That being said, carefully select your cabin. We were under treadmills one time and while it didn’t bother either of us you could occasionally hear them early in the am. Also, under the pool deck sometimes you can hear chairs being moved in am. Try to find a room under the spa, it’s a much quieter area.
  6. This cruise will be different for us, the World Cup finals are at 11:00 am so we will try to get onboard and go to O’Sheehans to watch. Do you think they’ll be showing it?
  7. We fly to NY on Saturday and Escape in Sunday. Ok NCL cruisers, what would you do? What I mean is, if you were boarding the Escape this week what would be the first thing you would do and what is your “Not to be missed,” thing to do or experience all week on the Escape? Ready, set, go...
  8. We had an inside on the Getaway last year July 4th week. It is SMALL. I used one of those shoe racks that hang and it was a life saver. I didn’t do this but afterwards I thought that the packing cubes you can buy on amazon would really help in this situation.
  9. It’s been a couple of years since we’ve cruised the Escape and the first time we’re flying in so I’m having to pack lighter. Couple of questions, I’m hoping you can answer. Are there hairdryers in the room? What are the soap and shampoo like? Any other tips to help me lighten up on my typical two suitcase packing?
  10. So frustrating. Still can’t book for our July 7 on Escape.
  11. This is the third time we’ve booked GTY and so far they’ve all worked in our favor. We booked a balcony BF on the Escape for 7/7 and were assigned today a BA on deck 15. I would pick a cabin on 9 or 10 usually but for the price difference 15 is fine and will be super convenient for sea days and breakfast.
  12. You will be fine. We did the same thing last year on a last minute cruise. You don’t say where you’re located but we spent a lot of time on 8, in the quiet chairs on the water. Better than a balcony really.
  13. Seriously, you do get what you pay for. But, we sail balconies or suites 90% of the time. Last year we booked a last minute inside. I can honestly say nowhere on the ship were we treated any differently than when we booked a higher category. Now, we didn’t have access to Haven but we didn’t pay for Haven, if I get a ticket to a concert and pay balcony prices I’m not going to get a meet and greet with the artist. Just like everything in life, you get what you pay for.
  14. We had this exact experience in July of last year. I thought it was the timing of the sailing, July 4 week out of Miami. Don’t get me wrong, I love NCL and after having just cruised the Symphony on Royal there were some things I really missed, but the party atmosphere on that NCL cruise, encouraged constantly by the activity staff was more than I could take. I was ready to say never again, however DH has encouraged me to give it another go. We are now contemplating Bermuda out of NY, which has me a little concerned. Anyway OP is spot on to what we experienced, we were hoping it was a one time
  15. A little off topic but does anyone know if they serve any of the sparkling selzer alcohols like Whiteclaw or Truly?
