  1. I just checked in one of our cabins for our cruise and it clearly showed, per passenger, the amount that would be preauthorized and explained what it was for. So at least they do notify you during check in about it!
  2. It's just going back to their crew for the gratuities anyway LOL.
  3. Apparently they didn't like an email from emich.edu? I've had that issue before with other similar services to verify. No idea why they don't like it.
  4. Interesting! I'll wait a few days then before I call. Thanks!
  5. I tried the chat. They verified it can be added, but said I have to call. Should I make my husband do this, or do you think they would deal with me?
  6. It really sucks when someone disrupts your meal, but I don’t support banning anyone from venues simply because some can’t behave. Anyone can be a jerk, not just kids. I mean, weak arguments have been used to ban black people and women from venues too. Not quite the same, but similar
  7. Update for those interested: I took his pay stub, circled all the relevant info, took his ID, circled relevant info, and superimposed it over his paystub into one document. Submitted that, and it was approved! Now I assume I'll need to call them to apply the OBC to our June cruise?
  8. When I see a bar, I equate that to loud drunken idiots, especially on a cruise ship. It only takes one or two. They should quit serving alcohol on cruises, or at least in specialty restaurants.
  9. Frustrating. I submitted his pay stub and they said it wasn't adequate (despite having the school name, and listing him as faculty??). Then I submitted the stub and his ID (which doesn't have a date on it, why I didn't submit the first time) and still says not adequate.
  10. Excellent! I submitted the proof and am awaiting the approval. Do you have to call to get it retroactively applied? We are cruising in June,
  11. I do love HAL’s proficiency with programming lol
  12. Can anyone point me to this HAL program for details? My husband is a professor in a public university and some of these programs would include him (teacher’s union). Does anyone know if HAL’s does or how to find out/sign up?
  13. How much more than what you paid is it if you booked a suite now? That will give you an idea if it’s a good deal. It doesn’t sound great to me but it is a long cruise so maybe it’s ok
  14. You don’t have to appreciate children, but that’s different than wanting them banned from somewhere they’ve always been welcomed before. Next week is spring break for my son and many other kids so your cruise will likely have a fair number of kids. I hope you have a good cruise but it was perhaps not the best planning for someone who doesn’t like kids.
  15. I suppose this bullet depends on the age of said children. Don't let your 5 year old go around the ship alone, sure. But lots of people trust their teens/preteens to go somewhere on a ship alone at some point. On our last cruise, my older 2 were 13 and 14 and they did sometimes go out on their own. Your last paragraph contradicts your earlier statements, tbh. You say you just want a few basic guidelines (which are reasonable) but also seemed to support barring them from the specialty restaurants - automatically assuming they are incapable of following basic restaurant guidelines.
  16. Seems perfectly logical to me. That’s how it should be.
  17. I don’t think that’s the majority. As parents, most either 1. Want a night to themselves and aren’t bringing the kids anyway 2. Were planning on bringing their kids all along or 3. Have no intention of paying for food on a cruise and still won’t. sure, they may get an increase in patrons, but I think it would at best be a wash financially, with the reduction in costs for kids already going. This point is of course debatable, and I could be wrong on the numbers.
  18. Discriminating against a class of people for a few bad eggs…hmmm….
  19. Another cash grab? This is less expensive than before. Kids weren’t banned from specialty restaurants to my knowledge and this makes it less expensive. I took my kids to them on another line, for full price so this would have been welcome. At least on that line, kids were free if ordering off the normal kids’ menu. My kids, sadly, wanted the adult food.
  20. Lol…why not? My kids always behaved well in restaurants and if they didn’t, we left.
  21. Thank you! 8” wider than a US Queen. Hope you have a great cruise! Where are you headed?
  22. My older kids (18,19) are on their own. They do have packing cubes to make it easy. My 13 yr old and my husband get their stuff together and I pack it. I check my son’s stuff, but not my husband’s, while putting it in cubes.
  23. Thanks, that link was helpful.
