  1. I see what you did there...😉
  2. Hi - we've been on the Edge (Aqua) and the Beyond (Sunset Veranda) and in both cases the safe was big enough for an iPad Air. I'm not convinced it would fit the iPad Pro size though.
  3. So - we didn't go for the Classic Stateroom Bar Set Up in the end - we upgraded our Classic drinks to Premium and were content just to shuffle along to the OceanView bar for our 'getting ready' drinks. For our upcoming 7-day cruise on Edge it's now £124 for the Classic Stateroom Bar Room setup (and £185 for the new 'Premium' option), so the price has definitely gone up. I imagine it might be worth it now if you've gone for Cruise-only pricing, but we have drinks and tips included so we'll just go for the Premium drinks upgrade as usual. Maybe we'll win a move-up and get our butler to bring the drinks!! 😉
  4. We were on the Silhouette last week and it was reported as fully booked - 2,800 passengers on board. Very busy on the outside decks on the sunny days, we often saw folks circulating round to find two free sunbeds together. Not so bad on the cooler days. OVC was very busy at lunchtimes. But one upside of a full ship is that all stations in the OVC were in use with lots of choice and plenty of it.
  5. I never travel without mine! Never had a problem taking it on board any of the Celebrity ships.
  6. Celebrity call them ‘Evening Chic’ nights and on a 15-night cruise there would likely be three. You’ll see a real mixture - from tuxedos/ long dresses through to slacks/jeans with open-necked shirts. No-one bats an eyelid if you’re dressed up or casual, it’s all very relaxed.
  7. We’re on the Silhouette right now (last night 😞 ) and I couldn’t make any reservations at Murano through the cruise planner before we sailed, but on embarkation day we went straight to the speciality dining concierge and there was availability almost every night, both sittings. We assume they need to keep back some availability for the upper suites who have unlimited speciality dining included. We booked two nights in Murano but ended up cancelling one in favour of the secret Taj Banquet curry night (recommended!)
  8. Hello I have personal experience of missing the connection - this happened to us in July. This is rather a long post! We booked flights through Celebrity, from Heathrow to Barcelona via Munich. We had a 90-minute layover in Munich, but the Heathrow flight was delayed and Immigration at Munich was rammed so we missed the Barcelona flight by minutes. The airline automatically rebooked us on the next flight to Barcelona, but that was for the following morning so no use to us. After eventually getting through to the travel team at Celebrity they told us there were no flights that would get us to Barcelona before checkin closed, so they booked us on a flight to Valencia where the ship would be next day. They also booked us into a hotel in Valencia for the stop-over. Next morning in Valencia we had an email to say that Spanish immigration wouldn’t allow us to embark in Valencia. So Celebrity booked us a flight for the next day to Ibiza, which was the next port of call. Plus another night in the hotel in Valencia. We flew to Ibiza the next morning, were picked up in a gull-wing Tesla and whisked to the dockside. By that point our covid tests had expired so we had an anxious wait by the side of the ship while we did two new tests before being allowed on. All negative thankfully. So we joined the ship on day 3 having missed two nights of a 7-night cruise. But because we’d booked our flights through Celebrity they made all the arrangements to get us to our cruise. We learned three things from the experience: 1. Try and fly direct if that is an option 2. Definitely consider flying out the day before 3. Use Flights by Celebrity otherwise you’re on your own if you miss your flight The flights home from Rome at the end of the cruise were trouble-free. We think we’ll stick with Southampton from now on!
  9. Correction on the champagne front - there is Perrier-Jouet on the menu at the Sunset bar, priced at $28.5 per glass, so somewhat higher than the Premium package limit!
  10. I think the dates would depend on the duration of your cruise - ours is 9 nights so 2 curry nights, a 7-night cruise might only have 1. And they’ve avoided both Evening Chic nights which are on the two sea days. I don’t think you’d be able to use your dining package, these curry nights aren’t plugged in to the app so seem to be separate from the other speciality dining options. And as for ‘champagne’, yes it appears to be Chandon Brut and Celebrity Vintage Brut, although there is something called Bouvet in Luminae and some of the speciality restaurants. We’ve not tried it, we prefer still wine (or proper champagne) but they still don’t seem to be able to track down the widely-advertised but always unavailable Villa Maria!
  11. Hi - we’re currently on board the Silhouette 9-night cruise to France and Spain (10-19 Sept). There is an un-advertised curry night in the sushi space on deck 5 on 14th and 16th Sept. Cover charge $48. The curry nights in our experience are usually excellent - limited availability so book soon! Go to Sushi on 5 to book.
  12. The sailing looks to be pretty busy - Inside/OceanView sold out, one Veranda cabin left, around 40 Concierge and one Aqua. Maybe they are expecting a slew of cancellations of the higher-end cabins and suites.
  13. I've just received a Move Up email for a cruise sailing in September - we haven't even paid the final payment yet! Does this seem a little early to you? Has anyone else received the Move Up email before they have made their final payment on their original cabin assignment?
  14. We've found that neither the app nor the paper menu list all the wines that are available in Luminae. In our experience if you have found a wine you like elsewhere on the ship they will try and get it for you. And we have sometimes taken the sommelier's recommendation - they seem to have access to wines within the Premium package range which don't seem to be available in other venues. Overall we've had no complaints about access to interesting and varied wines when we've been lucky enough to be a suite guest. MDR on the other hand is a different matter!! 😀
  15. Hi I'm considering using Celebrity Air to join the Edge in Barcelona in July - does anyone have any experience of flying from the UK to a European destination using Celebrity Air? The options offered on Celebrity's web site for this cruise are flying with Lufthansa from London Heathrow (via Munich), or Vueling non-stop from London Gatwick. Both airlines have pretty awful reviews, with Vueling faring worse. I can't decide between the non-stop from Gatwick on a worse airline, or the Heathrow-Munich-Barcelona on a slightly better airline but with the added risk of missing the connection at Munich and missing the embarkation. We've not done a fly-cruise before so a bit nervous about making sure we arrive on time!
  16. Has anyone purchased the 'Classic Stateroom Bar Set Up' package and if so would you recommend? I'm looking at this package for our upcoming 10-day cruise on Beyond. It's around £90 for the 10 days, and for that you get a bottle of (basic) spirits of your choice and a selection of mixers. But now that all bookings have the Classic Drinks package included, I'm not seeing a huge benefit in the Bar Set-up apart from not having to leave your cabin to track down a drink from one of the many bars on board. I suppose if you've gone for cruise-only pricing it may work out cheaper than paying for drinks individually. Or am I missing something?
