  1. I wish I had known about these tags before our last cruise 3 weeks ago, we have been home about 13 days and still have one suitcase missing which at this stage I guess we may never see again! Oh well, lesson learned here, apparently there is a 1 in 250 chance you luggage will be lost, of course that has to be us! In addition yes, London Heathrow was a nightmare, very long queues for security, took 90 minutes to get through, in addition I got Covid which I am convinced was either at the airport or on the plane home, my fault, I let my guard down and did not wear a mask, another lesson learned there.
  2. Thank you everyone for your very useful replies. Really looking forward to sailing with Regent again, if this board is anything to go by we hope to meet some really nice folks on board. Just sailed with SS after six years, not the cruise line we were use to.
  3. Hi Flossie, Thank you for your advise, I have asked for clarification, I am not too bothered about the money for the transfer its just the hassle of arranging a taxi Etc. Its a shame when you pay thousands of dollars for a cruise that the cruise line dont go the extra mile to get you to the ship on time! Its not a deal breaker but its such a disappointment and just another hurdle to jump through.
  4. I dont doubt you for one minute, here is the direct quote from our TA who we have been with for years. I have logged onto your booking and as you have got a pre-cruise hotel and transfers as part of the package with Regent, if you pass the details of your flights to me once you have had those booked and I shall pass them onto Regent so that they can arrange the transfers for you.
  5. We just booked our flights to Nice, according to Regent a 1 night pre cruise stay in a hotel, we have been informed is the Rivera Marriot however, Regent are now saying the transfer from Nice to Monte Carlo is NOT included, they will pick us up from the hotel to the ship, what a con that is!!!
  6. Thank you all for you best wishes.
  7. We have just come off the Silver Spirit, we arrived home on the 1st July, (this time last week) There were 498 pax on board, we stuck with the masks thing throughout most of the cruise however only about 4 or 5 other people did. On the tender most if not all wore masks, on the coach/bus very few did when on an excursion. Foolishly I let my guard down and did not wear a mask on the final 2 days on the ship, or at the airport or on the plane, that was my downfall, two days after leaving the ship I got Covid which I still have. Each to their own I guess but for me you cannot be too careful. You pays your money you take a chance, for me it didnt pay off, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
  8. Thank you, very much obliged.
  9. Hi Jean, Thank you for your prompt response, really looking forward to sailing with Regent again, we booked a Penthouse suite this time so spoiled ourselves. We have just returned from a 7 day sail with Silversea Venice to Venice, unfortunately SS is not what it was when we last sailed with them six years ago. We understand all the difficulties surrounding travel, new staff Etc but it just wasn't the same, we did enjoy the cruise but we cant wait to sail with Regent again.
  10. Hi Everybody, We are sailing with Regent for our second cruise 10 days, Monte Carlo to Athens 21st October. We have a one night hotel stay prior to the cruise, has anyone stayed in Monte Carlo with a hotel supplied by Regent, if so which hotel was it please? On a different note, I have checked on the Regent web site to look at the restaurants on the Voyager, we cannot book any until the 23rd July, do you have to pay for any? Also, is there a restriction on the number you can book? I have looked but cannot find the answer anywhere, thanks in advance.

    Silversea air?

We flew with Ita airlines, our Air France flight got cancelled the night before we left the ship.

    Silversea air?

We landed at Terminal 4 from Rome, that when we discovered two bags had not arrived, we then went to terminal 2 for our Cyprus flight which was heaving with people, still one bag missing, we "think" its in Istanbul but not sure? Working on our next cruise now with Regent, 10 days Monty Carlo to Athens, 21st Oct to 31st Oct, hopefully airlines and security may have improved by then?

    Silversea air?

Correct, London Heathrow was heaving with people, it took 90 minutes just to get through security, people crammed like sardines, in addition the plane was full so yes, more than likely one or either of those.

    Silversea air?

You are quite correct, ironically we were one of the few people who were masked at all times however, by the end of the cruise and flying home we did indeed let our guard down, my fault entirely, stupid really, since the pandemic broke we have been so careful, just goes to show you can never be too careful, never again, masks at all times.

    Silversea air?

Could it get any worse? Of course it can, I contracted Covid two days after leaving the ship, in addition one of our bags is still missing!!

    Silversea air?

We had a nightmare even before we left the ship. The night before we were due to disembark (18.00hrs) I went to check in on line with Air France, the flight had been cancelled. Went to reception they sorted a new flight around 23.00hrs, Venice to Rome, Rome to London. We left the ship took a 200 metre walk to the coach/bus only to find one of our case had gone missing, we had no option to leave without it. With minutes to spare it turned up at the airport. We checked in and boarded to 1 hr flight to Rome. We landed in Rome the next flight to London was delayed by 50 minutes, We eventually got to London but two bags did not make it. We boarded the plane to Cyprus only to find that when we reach Istanbul the flight to Cyprus was delayed for over two hours! By the time we reach home it was 29 hours, ridiculous! On a separate note, we will never fall for business class short haul ever again, the seats are just economy/coach seats with the middle seat unoccupied. Still waiting for our lost bags.
  17. 150 Euros is just outrageous, we paid 49 sterling in the UK two days before the cruise.

    Silversea air?

Never a truer word spoken! Just tried to check in with Air France to go home, it says "you flight is not available??? Reception trying to sort something out.
  19. Day 7 This morning we are back in Italy in Trieste. This is our last full day, we disembark in the morning at 07.30 even though our flight is not until 12.40pm, we may have some waiting to do in the airport? Last evening, we ate in the Silver Note, a very intimate restaurant with a quiet small selection of food, I had the octopus to start followed by the duck which was very nice indeed. Mrs Fudge chose the lamb and specifically asked for it to be cooked well done, unfortunately it came with blood inside so it got sent back, by the time it had arrived I had finished my meal! They had a female singer in there who was very loud, so loud it was difficult to hear each other. We retired to the Panama lounge where there was “death by chocolate” as much as you could possibly eat. So, a leisurely morning around the pool awaits with a cocktail (or two) I have discovered a Brandy based one call In Seine which goes down very well. In the afternoon we enjoyed an excursion to two local castles and a wine tasting, very good. Overall, we have enjoyed the cruise however, because we last sailed with SS six years ago in my opinion standards have changed especially food and clothing attire which we all know can be so subjective. Yesterday whilst having lunch two young ladies walked into the restaurant, one wearing a very flimsy swimming costume only just being covered by a see-through net, another had very short shorts on with the zip right down, totally unacceptable in my view. The changes were not deal breakers but it was a shock to the system since we last sailed with SS. Maybe we set our expectations too high? On the positive side, the crew in all departments have been outstanding without exception better than I remember. The excursions we have taken have been very good, well organised, plenty to do and see, would highly recommend. We are dining in the MDR tonight than turfed of the ship at 07.30. It’s been good sailing with SS again, despite a few hiccups they are not deal breakers, it doesn’t suit everybody, we have met 12 people who have their first sailing on SS, sadly 8 will not sail with them again, SS have missed a trick there. So, if you are already sailing enjoy, if you are about to sail stay safe and enjoy, Bye for now Fudge. Sadly, not everything goes right, just tried to check in with Air France, it say your flight is no longer available!!! Reception trying to sort something out!

  21. Yes there is, we questioned whether someone could smoke outside on the Panorama deck? We were told that the ship allows smoking all over on the port side.

    Silversea air?

Hi everyone, I am sure this has been asked before, so apologies I cannot find anything on the subject? We are currently on the Silver Spirit, yesterday I spoke with the future cruise consultant about a future cruise. Cut a long story short we booked a "ghost" cruise just to secure the on board 5 percent discount on our next cruise. During the conversation I asked was it better to book air with SS or independently? She said SS every time, which I thought she would. We have sailed many times but always booked our own flights, I am wondering what experience you well travelled guests have had please?
  23. This morning we arrived in Sibenek, Croatia. After breakfast we took a tour into the National Forest, about a 30-minute drive to see the Waterfalls, the guide took us on about a 75-minute scenic walk through the park and waterfalls, stunning, really beautiful. We then moved onto a small village for a walk at your own pace, back to the ship for 13.00 hrs and a really nice lunch in the la Terrazza. Mrs Fudge left the ship for some retail therapy in town, Mr. Fudge had yet another glass of Billy Billy. Last night we ate at the Indochine Restaurant, probably the most disappointing meal we have had so far on board. We had a starter of King prawn sweet and sour which was tasteless and only just warm. We are both spicy food eaters so we opted for the Thai Green curry and the Lamb Rogan josh, I asked the waiter to make mine really spicy. When it arrived, it was the smallest portion you have ever seen, no more than 5 or 6 pieces of lamb and a small portion of sauce. Yes, I could have ordered more or sent it back, I tasted it and it was hardly a curry, very ordinary, oh well one bad experience does not make a bad cruise. We had our first go at trivia today, finished second on 17 points out of 20 not too bad! We couldn’t think who the drummer was in the Beatles before Ringo star? Tomorrow is our last full day on board we have already been given our marching orders for leaving the ship early Friday morning. We set sailed early today 17.00 so at 19.00 Mrs Fudge was knocking on the boutique doors to spend our (her OBC) I may get a bottle of after shave if I am very lucky.
  24. Day 5 This morning we landed in Dubrovnik, Croatia. It’s called a sugar cane Island. We woke up to a lovely sunny day 32 degrees. A leisurely morning for us around the pool, plenty of sunbeds very few people around. Going to try the Seishin for lunch a new experience for us. Last night we ate at the Atlantide restaurant, the staff were just amazing, very attentive, the food was outstanding. When we last sailed with SS I discovered an Australian Shiraz Red wine (complimentary) that’s all I drank it was called Billi Billi, we haven’t seen it for years, when we sat down to eat we glanced across a table and there was a bottle on the table, my eyes almost popped out of my head! We immediately ordered a bottle which they left on the table. To our surprise there was a bottle in our room when we retired, amazing, just amazing. Lunch at the Seishin was really nice, I went for the Silversea selection, about 10 pieces of sushi and my favourite red wine. After lunch we did a leisurely walk around Dubrovnik with an official guide, about 90 minutes, it was very interesting. This evening there is a Venetian Society cocktail reception, we were invited by the Hotel Director Csaba Desvari.
