I strongly disagree with the author of this 'cheat sheet'. For example we depart Galveston, Saturday, Aug. 21. His cheat sheet states the test can be taken Thurs., Fri., or Sat. BUT, if you will work backwards with me. We are aiming for a 1:00 embarkation on Saturday. Back up 24 hours(1 full day). That puts it at Friday @  1pm. Now back that up another 24 hours(1 day). That puts it at 1 pm on Thursday. Now back THAT up another 24 hrs(1 day) and we arrive at Wednesday at 1pm. That is 3 days prior to departure. And THAT'S when we will schedule our antigen test. With so little room for error on when to get the test, we have to plan very carefully.  Sooooo.....I agree with Heald's statement on Saturday departures, and when can we go get the test. So the correct answer is: Wednesday.

I asked this exact question of him.. because three days in advance is not always the same as 72 hours.  I asked - since our cruise leaves on a Tuesday at 4 p.m., should I arrange to have the test on a Saturday after 4 p.m.?  Will I be denied if it's any earlier?  And he basically said they weren't going to quibble over a couple of hours but after 4 p.m. Saturday would be best.

So on August 28, I'll try to schedule our tests.....

  2. I am on the Carnival Miracle September 14 sailing.

I had reserved the Tracy Arm Fjord excursion back when the ship was supposed to be the Freedom.  With the restart and the change over, of ships everyone in my book of Faces cruise group got cancelled for this excursion.  Lots of us kept looking for it under shore excursions for Seattle but it never appeared. We were very disappointed as this is one thing we REALLY wanted to do.

Then just yesterday someone emailed the shore excursion desk and lo and behold they told her that they could reserve that excursion via the email system and pick up their tickets at the shore excursion desk when they got on the ship.  As luck would have it, I saw her post about 5 minutes after she posted the email exchange and I immediately sent an email and was positively howling with delight when they told me the same thing.  So it is apparently back on and just not offered on the website (why, I have no idea.)

So if you're interested in it, take a chance and email the shore excursion desk.  Maybe you will get lucky like I did.  Good luck!!

Due to medical reasons, my wife cannot drink. She will purchase the Bubble's package if that will work. Please let me know if you've had any luck in getting one person to get the drink package.

I wish.  I'm a recovering alcoholic so I don't drink alcohol at all....  If BF wants Cheers, we'd both have to buy it.  It has more than alcohol included but there is only so many milkshakes I can drink!  Luckily we have $600 OBC and I told BF he can have at it!

  4. I last had Burger Queen in Haarlem, The Netherlands.  It was really good; much better than typical fast food.  Don't know if it's still there.

Will the cruise ship let me back on board with a bag o' burgers?

DIY Jeep Tour in Skagway is open and operating this year while the cruise ships are here.
    The trip is altered slightly but still amazing.  You will go up the Klondike Highway but you will turn around at the Welcome to Alaska sign at the top of the White Pass Summit;
We have added a side trip out to the Dyea Tidal Flats and the Chilkoot Trailhead as a some extra stops so you have an action packed day with the jeep.
Even though we don't go into Canada  you will still see all the best stops on our jeep tour.

You get to see the following:

    Bridal Veil Falls
Pitchfork Falls (2nd largest waterfall in southeast alaska)
    Reid Falls
    Captain Moore Bridge
    Sawtooth Mountains
    Bracket Wagon Trail
    White Pass Summit
Welcome to Alaska sign (great photo stop)
    City Overlook
    Gold Rush Cemetery
Dyea Flats & old town site.
    Chilkoot Trailhead
    Slide Cemetery

Your day will be packed with cool things to see and great photo stops.  We still have the audio guide that will talk to you while you drive and you still get the turkey wrap lunches, waters, and a cooler with ice packs.Lady

LadyMac, this is from the owner. They have us covered for a great day! Now lets hope for great weather!

This looks good! Thank you so much for sharing!  When are you going?  Our trip is in September and it's possible Canada will be reopen by then but I was seriously rethinking whether we should do the Jeep if it isn't.  Thanks again!  Hoping for great weather for you.  Please do come back and give us an update as to how it went.

They have a great new itinerary for you to follow because of the Canadian border closing.

We are doing this too.  I didn't see a new itinerary on the website.... can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks for posting.  I'm glad I read this.  I keep a paper copy for my scrapbooking.

Yes.  I also photograph mine to divide up days on my camera roll (when I don't use my cell phone) so I know what days I took the pics for my scrapbook.

First off Covid is far more dangerous than a cold or flu, just ask the friends and family of the more than 600,000 Americans who have died from it.  I personally knew three people who were killed by Covid, two of them were under 50 with no underlying health issues.

It's true that virus particles are very very small, but they're not spread as individual particles.  They clump together on the surface of water particles which are exhaled.  Masks are very effective at stopping particles of that size.

Plus there are many who didn't die, but are permanently injured.  A good friend of mine got it and she has permanent lung damage from it.  She's on two different inhalers (morning and night) and then a rescue inhaler as needed during the day.  On good days, she only has to use it 10 times.  She also gets a nerve block regularly for the COVID headaches she still gets.

Carnival should just ignore the judge and carry on as they had planned.

They could and Desantis would be out of steam because it's the business making the decision, not the CDC.  Sure, Florida can say businesses cannot require proof of vaccine so the upshot could be, if passengers voluntarily show their card, they bypass the testing requirements and can run amok maskless.  If the choose not to, they will be treated as unvaccinated and will require the PCR test 72 hours before embark, snap tests every time they get on/off the ship and one at debark - all charged to their sign & sail account.  Plus requiring marks, separate dining, separate shows, separate excursions.
