  1. @sophieora, I see that you're fairly new to the board.  First let me say "Welcome to Cruise Critic!"

You've received a couple of good tips above...I don't really have anything to add to them.  However, as a future posting tip, try to give your posts a more meaningful title (other than your screen name) so that others can see what your posting is about.  In that way, only the people who have a real interest in that topic will jump into the thread.

    From past experience (not recent):

If you were "upgraded" for free, you do not receive the double suite cruise credits.

If $$$ were involved due to a bid or upgrade offer,  you WERE given the credit.

    This may have changed.

Well that's what I would have thought! As I stated in the OP, I bid for and won a suite upgrade. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how they mark it...

  3. I know this has been done before but it's been awhile since I recall seeing it here on CC.  We were discussing how medallions were "replaced" in another thread when you lose one or it stops working.  There was speculation as to whether they actually change batteries or just give you a different one.  The consensus was that you are given a new one; programmed as the old one was.  I think I can pretty well confirm that now that I decided to butcher one of my old ones.  I pretty well destroyed it just trying to get it open...no way in the world (that I could tell anyway) that they are ever intended to be opened up after they are assembled.  As you can see in the last pic, there's a bit of technology involved!

  4. We lucked up.  On our upcoming cruise we had a mini-suite (which is what we typically book) but decided..."What the heck...let's see what happens with a somewhat lowball bid".  Well...we ended up with a Vista suite.  First time ever to cruise in a suite.  Looking forward to it!

  5. I've always wondered what exactly they do in GS when it comes to medallions with dead batteries. If I had paid closer attention with my instance I would have noticed whether or not what they gave me back had my name and ship as they normally do, or whether it was "plain" which would indicate that I had received a different (but re-programed) medallion. If it had my name then that would mean they actually replace the batteries on board. Anybody noticed with a "new" medallion?
