  1. While I hope they do not cancel DR on my cruise in 10 days I really hope that they don't make it a sea day.  I had been going with one of the two Western Caribbean itineraries instead of the Eastern because of the 4th stop.  I'd prefer to make the stop at DR because I have never been there and have been to San Juan a few times.

Glad to hear this.  We're on the Bliss in two weeks and I have Cagney's booked for the first sea day.  Always enjoyed it in the past but lately it seems to depend on what ship you are on maybe?

I can't honestly say because this was the first time we went to Cagney's.  I have had good steaks and I have had bad.  For the most part I am not picky but this time it checked all the boxes: good flavor, good texture, not over/under cooked.

Although asked and answered before I think, does NCL fill every cabin upgrade or not or do they take care of any upgrades on the ship on day of embarkation? It seems like they would continue granting upgrades if the price was right.

On our Alaskan cruise this past August they were still awarding upgrades on the day of the cruise.  we did not get an upgrade and we didn't get the notice that we were unsuccessful until we got back.

  4. The 2nd stop is St. Thomas but I believe they have excursions for St. Johns.  Interesting that they switched to Nassau from GSC already.  I'm on the same cruise just 2 weeks later and there has been a lot of talk about Them switching from Puerta Plata to San Juan too.  For the 22-29 Jan cruise they also have the itinerary in reverse.

  5. If I understand your question correctly, you are asking about going from West Coast to East Coast or vice versa?  If that is the case, I believe that those type cruises are only done once per year for each option/ship.  Going from West Coast to East Coast happens at the end of the Alaska season when the ships move to the Caribbean Itineraries, so in November.  And the east to west will be the opposite and happen in January prior to the Alaska season.

  6. I have honestly never had a bad meal on a cruise.  I like variety and try new things.  I have noticed that the options in the MDRs have started to lessen though.

I had heard negative opinions on Cagney's in the past but I tried it anyway on my past cruise.  I did not get a filet because I had just had one elsewhere so instead I got a Ribeye.  One of the best steaks I ever had.  I tried my wife's filet and it was great but I liked the Ribeye better.  I am also a huge fan of Moderno.

  7. I will be on the Encore in January and they will be showing Kinky Boots & Choir of Man.  I have not seen either of these shows and was wondering where they ranked compared to other shows.

This past August on the Bliss I saw Jersey Boys and it was excellent, one of my favorites. The guy who played Frankie Valli was fantastic.  Back when the Epic was brand new, I saw the Blue Man Group and that was my all-time favorite.

When I tried to use the app while on my cruise, if I wasn't connected to the ship's wi-fi (not logged into my Internet plan, just connected) the app wouldn't show anything at all.  I couldn't call up scheduled activities or even the My Account information.  Maybe you've had a different experience, but this was mine two weeks ago.

Sorry, I was confused about being connected to ships wi-fi and using minutes to use the app.  You need to be connected but don't need to use minutes.  However, once your cruise starts the app doesn't work unless you are on the ship and connected to the ships wifi.

That is completely correct, but you do need to be connected to the ship's wi-fi at the least.  If you're connected to any other wi-fi the app is useless.

The app works different when your cruise has started, it doesn't do anything unless you are on the ship.  You do not need to be connected to the ships wi-fi for the app to work.  However, there doesn't seem to be much you can do on it from what I can recall other than see what you had previously scheduled.

I'll be on the Encore in January.  I hope Paquito is still the CD, he is really good.  I've been on two other cruises where he was the CD.

  11. If you arrive early, you will end up waiting in the boarding lobby until they allow people on the ship.  If you get there at 12, you will be waiting in the huge winding line to check in but once done you can get right on the ship.  I've done both and prefer to check in early to maximize my time on the ship the first day.
