  1. Honestly right now any carnival cruise out of LBC is going to be 100% packed. California is full of people and carnival will do anything to sell their ship 100% out. it sucks but get a balcony and just avoid public areas.
  2. Sure there would..more fun! Would you rather make drinks and be out there in the “public” or in the staterooms all day cleaning them?
  3. From what we gathered from the employees; ALL guest facing carnival employees basically get paid around the same amount (obviously like a “manager” is going to get paid more..but the person serving your drink is getting paid the same as the person dealing your cards, and the same as the person making up your stateroom…this makes it easy as no one is “fighting” for one specific job)
  4. Nope, we asked that too. It’s split between allllllll customer-facing employees (ie: people who COULD be tipped)
  5. I wish that were true…we actually asked that exact question and they said ALLLL tips go into a “fleet wide” pool. So, no matter how well you tip..the Individual employees who serve you PERSONALLY don’t really get any extra money..the best “tip” is to find out who their highest ranking boss is, and tell THEM that this specific employee should get shore leave.
  6. If I’m 18 and murder someone..guess what? I get the chair. the US is weird about that 18/21 “adult” thing…
  7. Interesting; that’s one data point that we didn’t know about..I DID know the casinos “bought” data from their ATM machine vendors (ie: if you’re in Vegas and take out a huge cash advance from an ATM in a casino..they’ll send you offers thinking you’re a degenerate) I need to think about the CC game a little more (we are both super-prime; but don’t use the CC’s we have)
  8. This makes sense I guess..as this was cruise number six (I just looked it up) and we really only started betting heavily on these past four. (The first one was a long time ago, then we cruised again with friends that second time) so…I guess here’s to hoping the offers start coming in…
  9. Do you know this for fact??? i would be SHOCKED if CCL casino department went that nuts on data analytics. (VEGAS casinos don’t even do that!) but..honestly it may make sense…
  10. TBH that’s a pretty dumb rule..as 18 is the legal age for most everything (including the casino on carnival ships)
  11. Without knowing your “play” we can’t evaluate. how many points did you earn? (If you play machines) or what was your table play like? (Buy-ins; first bet and length of play)
  12. I’ve wondered this myself as we play UTH also (the CCL version is called “Heads Up Hold Em”; only difference is max 3x raise so a tiny bit different basic strategy) and we play between $25 and $50 ante (table max is $50 ante; which means $200 just to “play” at the minimum {ante+blind+trips+play}) and people around us were playing the $5 minimum and saying they were getting all kinds of free cruises and *****..we’ve been on 8 cruises with carnival playing the same way and this cruise we just got off was our first free (ocean view only)! A fellow software engineer at work said like you; maybe it’s LIFETIME play (because all the folks around us were solid platinum+ cruisers) pretty stupid way to market to your gamblers..but then again, they don’t have to compete for your gaming dollar haha
  13. I hope but this isn’t the first cruise where we’ve gained 10’s of thousands of points…I think, like you said; they’re tight with comps (in Vegas, this kind of action would definitely be getting rooms, food, freeplay and vip event invites)
  14. I would imagine to convert to a whale tale is probably $$$$
  15. In my experience; If you’re not betting blacks on the table, you can forget earning DOU. we just recently bet green (table max was $50 on Heads Up Hold Em) and basically got ZERO for it. we switched to playing slots, and earned 40k points between the both of us, then we got two steakhouse dinners (two separate nights)..wow..$180 worth of soft comps for going through $100k in slots (it takes $2.50 to earn a point)
  16. I think it’s ship to ship..and maybe even itinerary to itinerary..we were on a four day miracle cruise to Ensenada back in October 21’..it was crowded, but not TOO bad. Then we were on a 7 day to Mexican riveira on the Panorama..it was HORRIBLY packed! I attribute this to it being the week following the “Sailabration” as well as poor ship design for the Vista class (same size ship, just MORE staterooms so smaller everywhere ELSE). It was also at 100% capacity we just got off a 10 day miracle cruise to Alaska and it was also 100% capacity, and it didn’t feel crowded AT ALL. We literally never had to wait in any lines.
  17. Coming from a data analytics person and a software engineer..these numbers are nuts..do you know what Vegas would give you for that kind of action!? (Believe me; we’re degenerates Aka: 7Stars) For what you’re saying, the theo you’re earning is $25k (10% hold on slots). That’s BONKERS! but your numbers line up from your friend (we usually earn about 15-20k points on a 7 day cruise and we’re getting those same paltry “free” offers) thanks for your replies! It’s definitely opened our eyes and will save us MANY thousands in the future as well not gamble on a cruise ship anymore haha.
  18. GOOD GOD! That means you’re putting in a MINIMUM of $250k coin-in…no way in bloody blue hell we’ll EVER do that on a cruise! We’re on a CRUISE! If we wanted to bang out just gambling we’d go to Reno or Vegas My only gripe is; people we’ve met in the casinos onboard saying “we get free cruises all the time!” And they’re sitting there at Heads Up Hold’Em betting the $5 minimum..that doesn’t compute to me…
  19. I can only hope to get some of that! We just lost $26k on the miracle on a 10-day Alaska run. (But I don’t think we’re in their marketing demographic as we’re early 30’s DINKS and not quite platinum yet)
