And of all sudden this turned into a political thread. Sad. I'm sure you are a big CNN watcher.
The national crisis, which so directly impacts the cruise industry we're all obviously interested in, is directly linked to people who sit in their positions of responsibility as a result of politics.
As to my preferred cable news channel, I'm actually more of newspaper guy.

The president has already said the cruise lines WILL get a bailout. Just this afternoon/early evening as a matter of fact.
So I guess the "Executive Branch's mind bogglingly incompetent, bungled, ego and politics focused response" doesn't hold water.
A bailout of the cruise lines is not an indicator of the Executive Branch's competence. Things like availability of tests and critically needed medical supplies are - and this administration is failing miserably for that.
The president says lots of things WILL happen that of course never do, like how the US only had 15 cases of COVID19 that would "soon be down to zero" and how this would just "disappear like a miracle" and how anyone who needs a test can get a test, and they're beautiful and perfect just like the transcript (yes he actually said that).

Wow. You sound like a joy to be around.
Forgive me if facts and reality conflict with your desire to be joyful.

Are you serious?
Only an absolute fool would book a cruise right now. This crisis is going to worsen for months, and NCL is likely going bankrupt without a federal bailout. Your cruise is in September? A world where that cruise happens means the absolute best case scenarios for how this pandemic will unfold play out, or maybe things go better than best case scenarios. Given the Executive Branch's mind bogglingly incompetent, bungled, ego and politics focused response, I'd not bank on best case anything.
Do not book a cruise right now, under any circumstances.

Any of you bankruptcy law experts care to weigh in on this?

Because they anticipate things changing between now and then.
Canada obviously doesn't. They didn't say no cruise ships with 500+ pax until after April. They said July.

Yeah, it is a cash grab. Hoping to get your money to help their bottom line right now
Shame on them.

What am I missing here? Canada said no cruise ships with 500+ pax until July at the earliest, yet right now on NCL's website you can book (at an insanely inflated price) Canadian cruises for May and June?
Is there ANY good reason why NCL wouldn't just take down those sailings, aside from hoping uninformed dopes book them?

Why aren't there threads and people up in arms over norovirus? Fearmongering anyone?
Norovirus doesn't have a 3% fatality rate, nor is it spread through respiratory droplets. Aside from the fact they're both viruses (just like a butterfly and a rhino are both animals) the comparison couldn't be less apt.

It's for your convenience.

That's pathetic. I had to cancel an RC cruise for similar reasons and had my money in a week.

Of course its a bald guy with a goatee.

What I find interesting about the above referenced site is that there have been over 80,000 influenza deaths this year and only around 3,000 from Covid-19, yet everyone is in a panic about the latter but ignoring the former.
BTW in keeping on topic we are scheduled for an Alaska cruise around the 1st of June and have no intention of canceling.
COVID19 is more contagious, has a drastically higher fatality rate (.1% with the flu vs 2-3% for covid19), and it's a brand new virus in humans so there's no built up immunity like you get from previous years flu. This is the real deal.

When I worked for NCL, Code Delta did not mean a "biohazard", but it did include "pollution" incidents, but it may on other lines, since the "codes" are not standardized. Fairly certain that it was a drill, since they are required once a quarter, but not sure why a cabin would be mentioned, unless it was a crew cabin below the waterline.
I'm positive they didn't say "for exercise" like they do running the code bravo drills.
-
On the Bliss last week I heard a PA call for a "Code Delta." I know Alpha is medical emergency and Bravo is fire, but never heard a Delta before. Quick Google search says it means "damage to the ship." It was at night and the announcement was out in the hallway so I couldn't hear it well, but I think they gave a cabin #? Any idea what kind of damage would prompt a Delta?

Surprised they haven't offered Unlimited Medical Center Access as a perk.

But there you don't have the Observation Lounges.
Yeah and people actually sleep in their rooms. It's great.

The Encore would be a perfectly lovely ship if they eliminated the laser tag and instead had SpiceH20, and if the Vibe has its original footprint and general passengers could use sundeck space at the front of the ship.
Oh wait that ship exists. It's called the Escape.
I'll never set foot on the Encore. Disgusting ship built with disgusting values.

The Breakaway is literally the Getaway with a hot dog cart without the tacky purple carpeting.
Balconies on both BA and GA are smaller than the Escape. Also the Escape doesn't have balcony lights, which I love.

Anyone coughing?

Sailing in a Bliss angled balcony soon, and bummed not to see a lounger in any of these pics. Did you request one?

Last minute fire sales for solo travelers, and I live a quick train ride away from the NYC port.
Literally no other reason whatsoever.
Okay maybe Howl at the Moon.

Is the reference to "premium" upcharge items in the T&C's new?
Is it smart to buy a cruise now?

Because I'm an informed citizen that doesn't like seeing needless human suffering and economic destruction because of incompetent leadership?
As to the bailout happening because the head of the executive branch said it would, I'm glad you trust something will happen because a pathological liar says it will happen. He said he'd release his tax returns, too.
