Problem is, the ship isn't going to wait.

I would not expect them to wait. Entire cruise was a little over 300 and I have 300 obc.

I understand risk. I see what everyone says. I don't see a play except hope my son finished by 3:45.

I'm sure if we are walking to security to check in at 4, will not cause ship to be late.

I still don't see how they can get all those people on in two hours with all extra checks

  2. Thannks for replies.

It is never easy, we've had so many cruises cancelled so I will put on pressure!!!

His second day of assesments is same day as cruise.

Day of cruise is his assesment until noon and break until 2:30 where he can go up to 4pm. Seems boarding will be only from 2pm to 4pm, not sure how they get all those people on in two hours.

Hopefully he will be done by 3:45 and take taxi at 3:50 to cruise port. Hotel person said only a few minutes away.

I moved us to Residence Inn by Carnival Port.

  3. Hi

We are schduled for a cruise coming up. My son just got an email about a high school aassesment that could end at 4pm. We are staying at Sheraton, near Long Beach cruise port, and only minutes away.

Boarding is from 2pm to 4pm, ship leaves at 5pm.

If we get there a few minutes after 4pm will we be able to board?

Ship is Radiance out of Long Beach.

Carnival must have sold enough cabins to the folks who were lucky enough to get those stupid crazy special offers,  I've been window shopping and noticed today that nearly all prices seemed much higher.

All dates for cruise were on sale, not just mine. Some were 30 bucks. All dates disappeared at same time, not just mine.

It was still January 31, very early in day, when I checked and date changed to Feb 28. My cruise was there with new date. All were pulled about an error later.

For me I'll assume end promo date is very early that day and not end of day. It could coincidence they pulled promo but I'd be safe and assume what I just stated.

  5. January promo book by date changed to 02/28 this mornnig. It was already changed when I woke up.

Rate was still there for only a couple hours and rate I ended up getting has more than doubled for all dates, not just one I ended up booking.

My guess is date published i[urchase by date s not end of that date but beginning of that date.

Yes. Or anytime in between start and finish. :classic_biggrin:

Thanks, I know it seemed like a stupid question but I have been burned when something as simple as an app says please use coupon by Jan 31 and it expired at 12:01am on the 31st, not say 11:59pm on 31st.

MSC require an additional test to the one you take to enter Dubai. If you are heading straight to the ship or staying just one night before boarding you can obtain a free PCR test when you arrive in the airport. If you are staying for a few days pre-cruise there are posts in this thread telling you where you can get one

We arrive very early day of cruise from Chicago via Helsinki. Ours is strange two days on ship in Dubai at start and two days on ship in Dubai at end. We are leaving early on what will be last day on ship. Hopefully we can leave ship around 3am last day to avoid hotel charge in Dubai.

  8. Thanks for explaining. I'm on phone so sometimes my auto correct screws things up.

I've now tried three time to do Dubai and each time it seems to run into weirdness.

In msc website I get an error calling up my itinerary. I'll call ta when I get back in town.

    I am from us btw.

  9. I thought I saw this asked before but can't find.

We are cruising January 3 from port Canaveral. I had a covid test setup for January 1, which just was notified cancelled.

I know I can cancel and get full refund, I'd assume my 300 obc from a different cruise will be lost.

If I move available funds to new cruise do I lose obc? Seems if obc is lost it would be rediculois to not do refund.

    Thanks

This is incorrect.  It's correct insofar as you would need a "proper" pre-test should you test positive at the pier in order to qualify for quarantine assistance, but regardless, you WILL be tested at the pier by a third party (CVS or Eurofins.)  If you're negative you can board and nobody will ask about your pretest.  If you're positive you cannot.

If you test positive, whether you pretested or not, you'll get FCC.  But if you need to quarantine in a distant port, NCL will (arguably, based on other threads here) assist IF you've taken a qualifying pretest.

If you test negative prior to arrival and negative at Pier, denying boarding, you are entitled to full refund and secondary assistance, after primary insurance.

MSC does things differently than Carnival, just like Carnival does things differently than RCI or NCL out of Texas.

And why the two year resurrection of a long dead thread?

Sorry, didn't notice it was two years old. I guess I googled taxes on soda packages

    Incorrect.

    https://www.ncl.com/refund-and-cancellation-policy-covid-19

    • If you, your family members or travelling companions assigned to the same stateroom cancel a cruise booking due to testing positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of embarkation, you and they are entitled to a FCC for the amount paid to Norwegian. To qualify for the FCC, if your COVID-19 test was administered by a provider other than one retained by Norwegian, you must present your verified positive test result in a form acceptable to Norwegian.

That was not rule in November. In Novemend, when I travelled rule was.

    Test Negative within 96 hours

    Test Positive at pier

I was at pier ready to go, your rule says I cancel. I did not cancel.

PLUS I posted where Peace of Mind rules.

    Cancel POM. I did

Use FCC for another cruise, which gets cancelled. I did two actually

FCC can be converted to Redund.

            FULL REFUND

They pay any expenses after primary incurance

In my case they paid for one night and limo to hotel

I tested in New Orleasn, since I knew they had techical issues after pier and was negative

                    rented a car

                    drove to Chcago

Hotel told me they paid first night

Per rules at time i am entitled to a full rend.

Per current rules on Peace of Mind I am entitled to full refund from Peace of Mind, I never had any extra FCC

Here is current rule on their website. I am covered by items 1 and 2. I cancelled booked Antartica last January and they cancelled. I had one other one also cancelled. I cancelled first a few days prior to them cancelling when pandemic first started using Peace of Mind. I would hope they will honor these rulings in end.

To offer our guests even more flexibility for future vacation planning, many who hold outstanding Future Cruise Credits (FCC) may now submit a request to convert their FCC to a monetary refund. Guests who elect to request their FCC to a monetary refund will receive the original cruise fare paid, back to their original form of payment and forfeit any bonus FCCs attached to their Latitudes profile.

For example: FCCs issued in July 2020 had a book by date of July 2021. The new “book by” date is December 31, 2021.

Applicability to convert an existing FCC to a monetary refund request may be submitted for one of the following reasons:

    • Guest has been affected by one or more suspensions.
    • Guest elected to cancel via our Peace of Mind (POM) policy and the sailing did not take place as a result of our suspension of voyages.
    • Guest had an active reservation as of April 5, 2021 for a cruise with a vaccination requirement (all sailings through October 31, 2021) or an active reservation as of August 18, 2021 for a cruise with a vaccination requirement (all sailings November 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021), and the guest is unable to comply so long as the request is submitted prior to the final payment date. Requests submitted after a qualified reservation’s final payment date will be subject to Norwegian’s cancellation fee policy communicated to our guests at time of booking and can be found on our website Cancellation Policy page.
    • An active and existing FCC is attached to a profile of a guest who has passed away.

Any guest affected by one of the above, wishing to request a monetary refund (of their original cruise fare paid and in lieu of their active FCC, including bonus amounts) must submit a refund request via the Guest Relations Case Submission page.

    Special Notes

    1. All guests who complete an online submission request (requesting to convert active FCCs to a monetary refund) agree that they are authorized to do so on behalf of all persons on the reservation as we are unable to issue partial refunds. In addition, they agree they are authorized to remove the value of any bonus future cruise credits offered by Norwegian Cruise Line for all guests.
    2. Upon submission of the online request, an email will be sent to the email address entered on the form with a response and case number.
    3. CruiseNext and CruiseFirst coupons are not eligible for refund outside of each programs terms and conditions.
    4. As we anticipate high volumes of inquiries, we kindly ask for your patience and allow up to 30 days for the review process to be completed. Each submission request will be individually handled and responded to.
    5. Exclusions may apply, but are not limited to, one of the following:
      • An FCC has been fully or partially transferred.
      • The current FCC holder is not the original FCC recipient.
      • A credit card dispute was filed for the charges.
      • The FCC is applied to an active and existing reservation.
      • The FCC has been partially applied to an active and existing reservation.
      • *An FCC has been applied to a reservation canceled under our Peace of Mind policy on or after August 2nd are ineligible for refund as the original FCC value are now included in the Peace of Mind FCC (coupon class POM-NRD) which is a non-refundable future cruise credit.
    6. If a refund is approved, all FCCs (including Bonus FCCs) will be deactivated, and a refund will be issued back to the original form of payment, within 90 days from the request submission date.
    7. Any existing 10% Future Cruise Discounts will remain active and available for use on future bookings.
    8.  For guests who are no longer able to travel as a result of an official announcement by a government or agency that takes place within 14 days of sailing (when Peace of Mind is no longer available), and the mandate states guests are NOT allowed to travel, then a refund would be available. If the new mandate is an inconvenience to the guest, i.e. a new quarantine requirement upon return from travel (but not a travel ban), then an FCC would be offered.
      •  Only new government or agency mandates would be considered. Anything in place already since April 2021 would not allow the guest to cancel and receive the above.

Wow.  I didn't know that NCL will not give you a refund if you test positive before your cruise.  This gives us another reason to not make our final payment next week.  Royal Caribbean would give a refund in that situation.  Once NCL has your money, good luck getting it back.

If you are negative within 48 hours and positive at Pier you are supposed to get a full refund

  14. I ran into similar in new Orleans last month. Negative 48 hours beforehand, positive at Pier.

Mine turned out to be false positive and secondary check was so screwed up after four attempts of equipment testing failure I was called positive.

We did get hotel, letter about support company, that was never informed by ncl we were at hotel.

I took test in new Orleans and it was negative. We drove home, room they gave me and my minor son was impossible to stay distanced, they could get found suite or adjoining rooms

Now they are not refunding money. It is part of their t&c if negative in advance and positive at Pier refund.

Personally I just don't see why to trust ncl

NCl tries it's darndest to hold onto your cruise fare, whether they cancel or you do.

After much anguish, many emails, phone calls, etc. my sister finally got her full refund from a cruise Norwegian cancelled at near the beginning of the epedemic, March of 2020.  It probably was partly because she panicked and cancelled the cruise herself literally two days before NCL cancelled all cruises

She tried to use her FCC last August, but that cruise was cancelled by NCL as well.

So coming up on two years, and the saga, as of Monday, is finally over.

This is exact same thing that happened to me. I cancelled two days before they did when pandemic started. Took fcc, no bonus since I cancelled, called peace of mind. That one got cancelled and offered ten percent off, no option for refund. Now thst fcc was on cruise that I tested positive at Pier and I had negative within 48 hours prior to travel. I am entitled to full refund on two areas. One now peace of mind fcc is entitled to refund plus my positive at Pier after negative.

Now I have 1300 fcc I want refunded and about 100 refunded. My out of pocket is 2172 plus prepaid wifi and prepaid excursion.

    How is this not stealing?

I do have claims submitted through their website. Hopefully they'll do correct thing and refund every penny I've invested.

Everyone will enjoy check in COVID tests for a while. Everyone will enjoy masks onboard. Hope you do. We love it!

I agree they should do at Pier. I happen to be one that was negative at home. Positive at Pier, turned out false positive. At PCR testing area people were incompetent and machine not working. Ten minutes into forth attempt they declared me positive. From there ncl dropped ball. No support, as written in doc they gave. Took test at new Orleans couple hours later, was negative. My son and I drove to Chicago next day.   Ncl has only give couple hundred in refund and have not honored full refund. I do have insurance for car, etc. They only would have paid for one night and no food. I guess if my insurance denied they should pay expenses, but I doubt it. They are liars and do not honor their published rules on refund   not sure why anyone would trust this company based on my experience.

I prepaid wifi upgrade and shore excursion. I do not think they even refunded that money. I sent in case and follow up for full refund and keep getting emails for survey of how trip went.
