We are on her 10/2, can't wait!!! BTW, all the pix are awesome! The only thing we're waiting on is the exemption for GGD. I hope it gets approved as there are are 10 of us going and it would really suck if they had to cancel, as this has been booked since 10/19!

They approved some exemptions for 8/28 and 9/4 today so they moving along faster than they did for August.

I heard about the Canadians and that's just wrong.  I understand AZ isn't approved for use the USA, but it's no different than J&J.  The other group getting the shaft in this are the people who have recovered and have natural immunity.

There's a difference. AZ is recognized as a 2 shot vaccine with the WHO and J&J is a one shot.  It's not a great situation but the US and Canada has such a close connection there maybe some kind of deal reached with the CDC once the borders really open.

Ive wondered about that. My booking name is usually my first and last but my passport has all 3 names including middle. And Carnival never objects to my credit card which just has my middle initial.

Mine does also and it has Jr at the end. My vaccination card just has first and last which wasn't an issue when I boarded the Horizon.  Carnival thoroughly looked at our paperwork twice since my daughter had an exemption.

That's a very good idea. However, if he just went to one of these drive through vaccination sites, where does he go to do that? I don't have an answer.  Although, I don't know who he would be able to call either...

We got ours at Brookshire Brothers.  I guess I will be looking into this.

The mass vaccination sites were operated by someone; county, state, city or a hospital so that would be the place to start.

Ok our sailing is 9/04/21 Now fingers crossed crossed they approve my daughters request. Or does anyone do childcare on here. Lol.

There wasn't any childcare on my Horizon sailing and it probably will be the same for my September sailing.

Hi sorry if this has been answered already. Family for sailing in September Carnival Panorama. We are all vaccinated except for my daughter who is 10 years old cannot get vaccinated. Do I need to apply for exemption for her? Or do they take that into account when we made the booking she was under age thank you advance.

You need to apply for the exemption. There was a link in the operational update email sent on the 19th,

We think. Just realize everything is subject to change hour by hour until then.  That way you are not upset when/if the protocols change.  With all the lawsuits and changing rates of infection, I don't mean to scare anyone, but I do not think anything is certain until I am onboard.  And it's possible things will change during the cruise.

The question is on the exemption process and right now it's through October.

It will really depend on the protocols in place next march.  Even if you are paid in full, right now the emails are not going out very far in advance.  They are only looking at July and August cruises right now.  I cruise in September, and understand that I will have no idea what the actual protocols will be until a few weeks before the cruise, if then.

    The protocols are through October.

We aren't cruising until March of 2022, and  haven't paid in full yet.  If I understand the procedure for applying for exemption correctly,  the members of our family who will be applying for exemption can't do so until two things happen: the cruise is paid in full after which time the email with the exemption form will be sent.  Is that correct?

No. The protocols being announced is the first thing that must happen and right now that's just through October.

Key West residents voted to not allow any more large cruise ships to dock, ever.  The Governor overruled the people's wishes.  I think that's the whole reason that port is up in the air right now.

The state legislature which represents the people of the entire state are the ones that passed the bill to overrule the local referendum.

Others have covered your first question, so I'll stick to your second - WiFi speeds.  I used the value plan on the Horizon in 2 B.C. (before COVID).  I thought it was fairly quick for ship WiFi, meeting my needs (e-mail, light surfing, light casual online game play) and exceeding my expectations.  I, too, had heard the stories of early Vista and Horizon cruisers having bad experiences A.V. (after vaccine).  But perhaps some of it can be explained by a large percentage of bloggers, vloggers, and Internet hogs on those cruises.  I'm hoping it will be better in a month or two when I go on my trips.

The problem for the vloggers is the upload speed which is always slow with satellite.  I was on with the vloggers on 7/10 and the speed was very good on the Horizon.

I have heard theories that Carnival is hoping enough people back out so that they don't have to deny anyone and can give the exemptions to anyone still hanging on, but I'm not sure that's true either.

From what I saw on my roll that's true. Carnival was even offering 1/2 off a future cruise during the last week but a few held out and didn't get the exemption till after they took the PCR test.

my concern is that if masking for the un-vaxxed is not enforced, there may be problems with other un-vaxxed contracting the virus.

They need to require it for the unvaccinated first and then enforce it.  At least now it's required in the Casino but it also needs to the same for the buffet if not the entire ship.

John Heald released the passenger and crew count on Facebook for Horizon and it was 75% capacity.

He didn't say 75%. He said figure out the numbers. All the Horizon sailings have gone out at less than 60%. Donkey gave the numbers in his Q&A.

  15. 29 minutes ago, pnwredhead said:

How did they know who to enforce them on? What did they have to see to know that someone was not vaccinated?

Masks were only required in certain places like the arcade and they had someone there when it was open.  They were also required on bubble tours which both Carnival and the tour operators enforced for everyone. The only other place where masks were required was the port of Miami. There was a couple who got off the ship without a mask and they were immediately stopped

My daughter wore a mask except while eating and in the pool but it should be a requirement for all unvaccinated.

I once had a college professor who said the worst two laws ever are speeding and alternate side of the street parking. He went on to say everyone breaks them with generally no consequences. And once you break a law and there are no consequences, it is much easier to break another law.

So, I agree either enforce the rules, or don't have the rules.

Carnival enforced the mask protocols on the Horizon on my July 10th sailing.
